Racedriver came up with the idea for this group build so I can’t take credit
for it. Due to work he doesn’t have the time to host the group, so I volunteered
to host it in his place. I do hope he can find the time to join in. Thanks for
a fine idea Racedriver.
I have been here for awhile now but haven’t been very active in the forums.
I would like to see the interest in a group build where no aftermarket is
allowed, no resin cockpits, wheel bays, wheels, etc..., and no photo-etch. The
catch is I would like to get back to basics and require some sort of scratch
built add on whether it’s as simple as adding hydraulic lines to gear struts or
completely rebuilding a cockpit. Now scrap PE frets or scrap resin or parts in
the spares box would be allowed as long as it is used in some form of scratch
building. Any subject would be allowed in any scale.
My idea for this group build was brought about by the fact that almost every
model I have in my stash has some form of aftermarket add-on that I have
purchased, which in turn has made me realize we are spoiled by add-ons. That in
itself is not a bad thing because I like ultra detailing my models as do a lot
of people here. I just figured good old fashion ingenuity might be a refreshing
break from spending countless dollars on aftermarket add-ons.
The rules:
1) Any scale any subject, crossovers and partial builds will be allowed.
2) Some form of scratch building must be on the model.
3) No purpose bought aftermarket for your model, however multimedia kits will
be allowed.
4) WIP pictures are highly recommended especially of the scratch built
add-ons.
5) Descriptions of how you did a particular scratch built item would be
helpful too so we can learn new techniques.
6) Have fun the scratch built parts don’t have to be in the league of Chukw.
The start date is going to be 01 July 2010 until 01 July 2011 if I get
enough interest. I would like to have a few more people commit before I
make it official.
Also if anyone wants to design a badge I would greatly appreciate it as I am
un-skilled in designing something that would be appropriate. Thanks in advance.
