You finished yet Richard?????? seriously though thats a nice paintjob, well done I agree with the the other guys the wheel does give it a kinda off road look....It might be that big to hold the nose up high, looking at it on the ground it appears to be in a glideslope angle....

Thanks a lot for the kind words, luckily there won't be much to see once its all buttoned up. I fairly happy with how it looks so far. Next up closing it up and starting the wings and gear.

About the Horten nose wheel, that has always been the main thing I didn't like about the lines of the 229 otherwise its an absolutely beautiful plane. I wish they hand not used that monstrosity! I'm sure they either had really good reasons or like you said surplus tractor wheels!

...You have to wonder though WHY it has such a BIG nose wheel lol...

Been thinking about that and the only reason i could imagine myself is that the nosewheel would have to carry the weight of the whole aircraft on a crappy nose down landing. Or germany had a surplus in tractor wheels at the time.....

The mig is coming along great. Really spartan interior but you made out of it what you could. Well done buddy. Give us more more more!

Richard I agree with the others, the color looks right to me!!! That is a nice lil kit!!!! I know you don't know the answer, and am really not asking. You have to wonder though WHY it has such a BIG nose wheel lol. Looking good mate!!!!

jmabx- that P-59 looks great! I wish this kit went together as well as you say yours has!

kermit- Geez! You might have that one done by the end of the week! Colors look right, exciting to see it in that camo scheme.

Started work on the interior of the MiG. The kit provides very little detail (There's not even a stick!). Kermit was very helpful in sending me some screenshots of the MiG in the IL2 1946 game. Based on those photos I think the interior blue green im using might be a bit much but ill go with it. Im not sure if there is much I can do to to make it a little more detailed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Almost every piece had to be sanded down to fit inside the fuselage, the floor was probably the worst. I had to take about a 1/4 inch out of the center to get it closed up. I placed the seat back in the wrong spot on top of the seat itself so I moved it directly to the floor. As you can see my model making is a little crude (The kit doesn't help matters much) I have to have it though to complete the Soviet collection I'm trying to build. I suppose I better get used to build like this if that is my goal!

Had a day off today so had time to do the camo spraying and undercarriage assembly. Only got the landing gear bay doors and antennae to slap on and dirty her up a bit before i can start the decalling. Never did a german camo like this before but i am pretty pleased with it sofar I followed revells instructions on mixing the RLM 81/82 paints and i don't have alot of knowledge on the subject but to me it looks ok...:

And the undersides. I really like the yellow nose on these birds, just like 109's really

Here's a quick mockup of the P-59. The wings aren't glued to the fuselage yet because they need some clean up. I'm really impressed with the fit of this kit! So far it's gone together better than the Tamiya Fw-190 I just built!   If this thing takes any filler, it's because I'm an idiot!

The only issue I'm going to have with this kit is the fact that the plastic has a textured surface. That would be fine if it was getting painted OD or something but not good for a NMF. I will have to do some sanding to smooth it out.

Ah,... you know me...? Just felt like a "quickie" again after a few bigger projects and inbetween others. This flying wing proves to be an excellent choice to do just that sofar. It will hit my paintbooth today.

Simply love that mig! Imagine the war going on for one or two more years.... YP80's, schwalbes and mig 9's.... A very interesting thought...

Been working on the flying wing for a bit and have pit and engine works painted and assembled. At least...the engine parts that are visible lol... revell cheated a bit here

Anyways... some pics to clarify... Pit... the ip was a flat piece of plastic so i was forced to use the decal:

Kermit, I heve that kit as well its a great kit if a bit fiddly in the cockpit area, I haven't finished mine yet and I've only seen the older Red 13 scheme done so I'm excited to see how it turns out.

Model Geek, I saw that program as well. Very interesting story, IIRC they were able to show that had it become operational it would've been very difficult to intercept because of the combination of speed and reduced radar signature. It would've cut the British response time by more than half!

Aright on to the MiG, 

The Sprues

As you can see ive started to remove some of the pieces to clean them up, there is quite a bit of flash. Exterior detail is very good and nicely done. The cockpit leaves something to be desired though.

Markings and decals 

There are options for a Chinese plane in 1958 and a Soviet one stationed at Vostok 1950. I'm going for the Soviet plane. The Directions are decidedly vague on what colors to use, but my best guess is the exterior is Light Ghost grey or something very close ill use that and see how it goes.

The Horten brothers were really ahead of thier time when they developed the GO 229. There was a very interesting TV program on the National Geographic channel here in the states. I think it was called Hitler's stealth fighter. Northup Grumman built a full size replica and tested it's radar signature. There is a nice article at nationalgeographicchannel.com

Goodie goodie! Think i'm gonna have fun with this one. It looks like it's one of RoG's newer (=better) molds. I already took some time researching the subject, scouring the big www and i never done a german camo like this

I have a RoG 1:72 Me262A-1a in my stash that looks tiny but sweet and today i just picked up a 1:72 Horten Go229 flying wing from the same manufacturer but i don't see it on the list on page 1?

Got my mind set on the Go229 but if it is not eligible i would do the schwalbe.

Hey guys I'm new here and I was wondering if could join with a Amodel 1/72 MiG-9 that I just picked up. This thing is pretty rough but hopefully my limited modeling skills will be able make a decent model.

I haven't done much on the Airacomet lately. I've glued the wings together but that is of no real interest.   I decided to busy up the forward gear bay a little with some plastic scraps and a little wire. It was rather dull before.

The aluminum paint gave it a... well... blah appearance but hopefully a dark wash will help with that.

Now I can proceed with gluing the forwrad half of the fuselage together. Yay!
