All the PE greeblies now attached, canopy and gondola masked and ready to go;

Then the interior colour for the canopy and gondola;

Prime for the whole plane;

White for the underside wingtips and band near the rear of the fuselage;

RLM Light blue for underneath;

RLM dark green for the upper;

and finally the camo pattern. The white band turned out great and looks really effective against the green pattern;

Ok, I'm off OS for a week so back to this in a while.

Cheers

Hans von Hammer

If you need me to make any change here, please let me know.

-Hans von Hammer- 1/48 Beaufighter, or He 219 or P-38M-

Just to let ya know.. I finally got things in order, and it'll be the P-38M, 1/48th..  It's also a " What if Oberst Hans von Hammer was also a WW2 Nachtjäger, and he flew a captured P-38 (in his personal colors and markings) with his Radarmaschinenbediener Radarmaschinenbediener (Radar Operator), 'Otto'?" build...

There goes Hammer, breaking all the rules again! Whistling Ahh well, if anyone can pull it off, you can.

Jailcop, welcome aboard!  A night hellcat sounds good.

Caspar, the Ju-88 is already looking good!  The cockpit rivals many larger scale kits.

Very intriguing Mr. von Hammer!

Cheers,

Greg

Not a huge amount of parts to this kit but there will be a bit of sanding and filling. An old Italeri pressing and it's not a great fit. Anyway it's a nice bird and I am enjoying another Luftwaffe build!

Cheers

Is it too late to get in on this build?  I'n just finishing up a Mig 21 and I have a 1/48 Hasegawa F6F-5N that I'd love to do for this build

Looking good, raised panel lines galore? Meh, I'm used to them, bring mainly a airfix man!

I haven't worked with 1/72 PE in a while. But I got there in the end! Cockpit done and fitted.

So here is my final build for this GB. The re-issued Tamiya, Italeri Ju88 C-6. Raised panel lines galore but meh...it should still look pretty good when assembled.

I also picked up really cheap the Eduard interior and exterior sets for the Hasegawa kit. I've had a good look and there aren't too many variances and I should be able to use most of the PE.

Now it's time to bathe the sprues...

Cheers

Very nice Casper  Yes

BTW, have you read Ben Rich's autobiography, part of which focuses on the development of this aircraft? He was Kelly Johnson's chief thermodynamicist on the SR-71 project, then headed the Skunk Works after Kelly retired. The F-117 was Rich's most notable achievement as head of that group, and I found it interesting reading.

Ok, she's done. Another Lockheed of the assembly floor. I really love their designs. I've done the F-104, SR-71, F-16J and now the F-117A. I'm doing the F-35B next.

I am just amazed by the shape of this thing. It's like a spacecraft.

Cheers

Okey dokey, I can almost see the end of this bird.

Decalling done, just need to finish off the gunsight, wash the panel lines, detail the undercarriage with a light oil wash and finish the canopy.

Cheers

Even though this kit came molded in black styrene, it does not truly begin to look awesome until the semi-gloss black coat goes on over the primer.

I've been testing the Flory pro modeller wash to see what type of highlights I can get on a semi-gloss black finish. As the wash is dark gray and not black I figure it should make a subtle impact to the panel lines.

The panel wash is on the bomb bay door on the right. Apart from the gloss and naturally occurring highlights I think you can see a difference. As the whole plane is covered in panels I think this should break up the monotonous surface and create a lot of depth on the model.

I'll see how it goes over a larger surface area.

Cheers

Got some more detailing done. Some weathering on the ordinance;

Bit blurry but the oil picked out the details on the wheel and bomb bays;

Cockpit came up well!

Not a lot of parts in this kit but a lot of plastic!

As usual the Tamiya quality is great to work with. No flashing, everything fits. All the parts have been cut off the sprues, just need painting putting together. It's a relatively simple kit but will look great with the right amount of detailing.

Fuselage prepped and ready to go;

I wish more kits joined top to bottom instead of left to right. The F-16 kits do it, right?! It wouldn't be hard to do with a lot of planes, just hide the join along panel lines. It would eliminate the need for seems down the middle of the fuselage.

various gray primed parts...first the wheel/bomb bays and cockpit;

wheels, bombs etc.;

IP with coloured PE. Next some picking out of details with a painted pin head and silver dry brushing;

That's all for now.

Cheers

Great job on the 110 Casper ,the black finish is a hard one to pull off and you did it justice!

Caspar, the 110 came out great!  You did a great job, inside and out.  I updated the front page a couple of days ago, but everytime I wanted to post here, something came up.  I put it next to your Sea Venom.  Already a good start on the Nighthawk.  That Aires cockpit looks like it has a lot of detail.

I apologize for not being very active on here lately.  At my work, I was transferred to the EMS division, so now I have to go through 6 months of paramedic school.  It is much more time consuming than I thought.  I might have to shelve the Meteor for a little while in favor of a simpler build.

Great stuff still going on here!  I like the suggestions to extend the GB.  I have a bunch of kits in the stash I still want to get to.

Cheers,

Greg
