I haven't test fitted my meteor fuselage as yet , I hope it fits a bit better than yours Greg .
I also noticed that you cut out for the wing speed brakes , did you just use some plastic sheet glued to the inside of each wing half to cover the opening ?
I hope the wings don't give you too much trouble .
The inside color of the Kamov KA-50SH is flat black , so I'll probably airbrush both the Meteor and KA-50 interior parts at the same time and thank's for the tip on the Meteor PE foot pedal troughs and the instrument panel .
Hopefully I'll have some WIP pic's soon .
John .
I haven't touched the Meteor since I posted last. Yes, I used some sheet styrene to back up where I cut out. From what I can tell from pictures, it didn't look very deep. I am going to get on the sanding today, I hope.
Cheers,
Greg

Greg, are you going to the Hobbytown contest this weekend? I'll be there. Taking my Spit IX.

how to make a gif
Hi Satch, I didn't know. What time/day is it? I am going to try and go. Thanks for the info.
It's tomorrow, Saturday 27 April. I think registration begins at 1030. I have a Spit and the Hellcat there now on display. Hobbytown on I410 and Vance-Jacksion.
Hello all, I got to see Satch's Hellcat (and a spit) in person yesterday at a contest at the local Hobbytown. He did the Hellcat and Monogram proud!
Satch, I hope you got a trophy or two for your excellent builds. Also, it was good to meet you in person.
It has been kind of quiet here of late, but if you are new to this thread, I recommend you check out the awesome builds done so far.
Still doing lots of body work on the Meteor. Nothing but putty, primer and dust.
Greg thanks for the update,I'm sure the sanding dust is clouding the air! I'll be starting the 190 as soon as some a/m goodies arrive!

Greg it was great meeting you and your daughter Saturday. Yes, I won 1st for the Spit and 2nd for the Hellcat. I have a knack for picking the right categories with very little competition!
Hope to see you in Austin next month.
Sadly , no new progress on my current Night Fighter builds , however I was browsing ebay and saw the 1/72 Revell P-70 Night Fighter ...
Has anyone ever built this kit , I was wondering what the fit of the parts was like ?
I'm looking at some other stuff on ebay at a couple of merchants that have the Revell P-70 , I was thinking of combining kits to save on postage .
TIA ;
I saw a inbox review over at modelling madness on the Revell 1/72 P-70 ;
http://modelingmadness.com/scotts/allies/us/p70preview.htm
The kit looks okay , so I bought the one I saw on ebay along with some other kits .
Another addition to the Night Fighter collection ; I better hurry up and finish the builds I've already started !
Hi John, I recently added one of those to the stash. I haven't opened it yet though. I really liked the look of my P-70, so I figured it would be nice to have one in 72nd too. Depending on the detail, I might try and add some of the aftermarket goodies for the MPM A-20's to it. It can't be any worse than my Meteor. I swear, nothing fits together on this thing. When I test fit it, it didn't seem too bad. I must have been dreaming! Cool plane anyways, it is just going to take a little longer.
Hi Greg ;
Thanks for the tip on the aftermarket stuff for the A-20 , it will definitatly spruce up Revell's P-70 .
Sorry to hear that the Meteor is becoming quite frustrating ; I've started to prioritise my current builds and I have the B-57G Night Hawk back on the bench to continue masking for the two green camouflage . I also have the Meteor and Kamov KA-50 Night hunter ready for some interior black on the fuselage pieces and I have started to clean up the parts of the High Planes RAAF Mk.20 canberra , which will also have a black interior .
If I can stay away from ebay for a while , I'll make pretty good progress on these builds ......Here's hoping .
BTW , I hope all is well were you are in Texas ; The nightly news here has been showing horrific images of all those fire's there inyour neck of the woods .
Take care Buddy .
Well after finishing of a few kits, I got back to the Bf-110. Dragon replaced the missing nose part. Gotta say, the quality of the kit is outstanding. After a Revell kit which was bad, Trumpeter which was good and a so-so Hasegawa kit, the Dragon quality is excellent. The detail as well as the fit is a joy.
Anyway, got the wheelbays and gears together. Everything just waiting for a coat of RLM02 then weathering.
I'm going to display the port engine and cover the starboard. The 1/48 scale BMW engine is even more detailed than the 1/32 Bf-109E I built earlier this year.
Cockpit coming together nicely. A couple of incompatibility issues between some of the Eduard PE and the actual Dragon parts. But on a test fit the fuselage with all inside structures fits together really nicely.
Once I airbrush the wheelbays and nose weapons assembly, I can get this bird together. An amazing variety of greeblies and detail for this kit. I almost wish I had forked out for the 1/32 version. Quite a small plane considering it's a 3 seater bomber.
Cheers
On the bench: A-4F 1/32 Hasegawa
Just deployed: F6F-5N Hellcat Nightfighter 1/48 Eduard
Up next: A6-E Intruder 1/48 Revell
Casper great job on the office ,nice detail work!!!
My sentiments too! Great detail.
Yes, I have been a slug on my meteor. I should have some progress soon though.
The cockpit is looking good Casper!
On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister
I'll be following this build casper. i'm gonna start the eduard 110 soon, maybe i shoulda went with the dragon? Nice job so far, i love the look of that pit.

Hi Nathan, yeah the Dragon is a really smooth kit. It fits together perfectly, little stress or fuss. Having build an Eduard Bf109-E in 1/32, I'd say the two kits are matched about evenly. I have been quite busy lately so found not much time to work on it.
Some work on the wings and got the fuselage together and nose and tail attached.
Also got one of the BMW engines together as well.
Very nice casper. Love the detail you have going on in that office

Hercmech Very nice casper. Love the detail you have going on in that office
I second that,nice work Casper!
Awesome work Casper
Embarrassingly my Night Fighter builds have been stalled for quite a few weeks but I've been having a great weekrnd so far getting lot's of work done on other builds , so I'm going all out to try and get these three going ....
The 1/72 B-57G Night Intruder has been waiting for the medium green / dark green camo for a while now , so that should get done over the next couple of days .
Zvezda's 1/72 KA-50W Night Hunter is molded in black and the interior color is flat black , so a few light coats of tamiya's flat black should do ;
The Revell 1/72 P-70 arrived and unfortunatly my kit is missing the front cokpit bulkhead . However it shoudn't be too difficult to scratch build one using the rear cockpit bulkhead as a template ;
Interior color will be chromate and I'll airbrush that tonight .
So hopfully by the end of this weekend some more progress has been made .
John
Looking good guys!
Paramedic school has really cut into my spare time. I was lucky to get about five minutes of sanding done this week. Once I get past the body work, it should move along. I'm glad to see that some of you are keeping this alive, thanks!
It would seem all of us have been hit by one snag or another. My wife had her company merge with another one and told us we had to move. So the transition has kept us busy for months with more work in the coming months. I will do my best to finish this Fiat CR 42 CN Italian night fighter. Perhaps as the holidays approach and a new year dawns we will all find time... before the world ends.. :)
You know, I would be glad if this tread continues for another year and let it just be the continuous night fighter thread. Just separate the models completed from year to year until all interest dies. What do you think?
I have the original four USMC Night fighter kits in the stash , that I nominated to do when Greg kicked off the Group Build and I would sure love to continue on with those when I finish the one's I'm working on now ; Particulary the 1/72 Minicraft PV-1 Ventura with the awesome resin interior set I bought to go with the kit .
At first I was too scared to touch the kit , with the fear of messing it up completely , however Greg kindly sent me an article on the Minicraft PV-1 buid and after reading it a few dozen times and looking at the kit , I'm a lot more game to have a crack at it now .....
Anyway a little bit of progress today on the 1/72 revell P-70 ;
I airbrushed some chromate to the interior cockpit pieces and engine nacelles pieces as well the landing gear doors and engine cowling insides . Some silver on the wheel hubs and landing gear struts and a little yellow on the prop blade tips . Oh and I made sure to airbrush the underside of the wings with some chromate where the engine nacelles and landing gear housing will be positioned .
A little flat black to the cockpit pieces of the Kamov KA-50W and now I can glue the seat and instrument panel in place and close up the front cockpit section .
So moving along nicely .
looking good !

Ok, got the bird together. Next comes the canopy and a small amount of gap filling. Most of this kit fits together like a glove so will be very little to do.
Great work as always guys!
Have to admit I've been dragging my feet on the Widow but hopefully she'll be done before the end of the year.

Great work Casper, that engine sure adds alot to the model.
Too many great things to call out each of you....so great work everybody!
I am almost ready to start shooting paint and will post pictures when I can.
A bit more progress on the Bf-110D.
She's all together, canopy in place and ready for a prime coat.
The nose antenna array has being doing my head in! It's so fiddly and I want to poke my eyes out with a hobby knife!!!! AND it's only halfway done!
Props ready to go...
