I will do the A-515 she of the blue tail. Jeremias why do you think they were painted in the home country, and if so, what do you recommend as the green and brown? One source I found listed Peugeot paint colors. I once owned a 404, but it was white. Nice car in a durable way, even had a hand crank.

I just asked a friend who is the expert on the Pucara (he´s the guy who makes the 1/48 kit) and he said that the first batch of 4 planes that arrive to the islands were in NMF and latter were painted there with the camouflage. Also the rest of the planes were painted here in the continent in both BAM Santa Cruz and  in BAM Reconquista (the more darker ones with gloss automotive paints)

Bish: the 1/48 kit is the same that came out in the FMS mag, A multimedia kit with resin, PE, and vacuformed parts, the brand is Aconcagua Resin Modeles

I'm doing a Sea Harrier, I'm sure the inlets & exhausts will be very similar & would love to see a little of those areas. The landing gear... not sure if they would be much different but I'd like to see some of those as well. And I suppose the ejection seat would be common, if you get a chance.

Ye i know what you mean, i have noticed that a few times. I am hopeing that once the GB gets under way we will get more posts in there.

I will open it to the guys. Is it useful ahveing two thread, or should we move the referance stuff to the actual GB thread. Also, is all that info on the first post on this thread of any use, or do most people seem to know what they are doing anyway and just do their own searching. I just thought at first that not much would be known about this war or the equipment used, but seems theres alot more knowledge about it our there than i was expecting, especially from our America cousins.

So if you guys think this thread is deflecting from the GB thread and sureving no purpose, i will get it locked.

I know the Osprey books go in  and out of stock regulaly. I just had a bit of luck find one from the same series on Amazon, have you tried that.

I haven't read any Falklands related books, but the Libary down here has a few, and as the books i brought with me are not going to last i think i might pay it a visit and read up on the c onflict before the build starts. I will see if they have those other two.

Haven't looked at Amazon yet, will have to do some searching tonight, I've always like Osprey's work. Let me know if you find anything interesting, thanks Bish,

Just found a full PDF download version of the Osprey book on one of those Rapidshare etc. sites - looks as nice as I expected, I'll have to track one down for sure.

Hmmm, I feel like I'm trolling the black market right now!

I also found a pdf download of "Warbirds Illustrated 045 Argentine Air Forces in the Falklands Conflict". Unbelievable amount of photos. (My local library has a copy, I'll try to grab it this weekend.) Mostly B&W with a few colour pics, really good variety of subjects too.

Nice find vance. And if i come across that book on E-bay or amazon i will let you know. Going to look into booking on the battelfield tours this week, so hopefully in the next few weeks i'll have some more pics to share.

Glad to have you on board bigua. All you need to do to take part if let us know what kit you are building and what scale. Nice to see a Vulcan on board. And once the GB is up and running, we like to see as many photos as possable. And your English is a damn sight better than my Spanish, so no need to apologisise.

I will do the Twin Otter. For the Skyvan I will need the Prefectura Naval badgers. I think Phoenix Decals has but I already have the decals for the Twin Otter.

Scorpiomikey - no problem to change the model you'll be working on. Nothing like seeing the real thing to inspire a build huh?! Great pics btw, that's a great help. Is that Meteor a static display or airworthy? It looks like they've done a great job with the exterior.

OK, I was at the second-hand shop that I had mentioned in another thread, found a 1/72 Heller Étandard. Not sure of the mark #, I just grabbed it thinking I could actually add this in as a third kit for this build!

The museum is Ashburton Aviation Museum. Its all volunteer run and keeps afloat by donations and fundraising.

The meat box i dont beleive is airworthy. The harrier is. Or it was untill some idiot shoved a plank of wood down the intake to stop the blades rattling at night (tourist camping) 

The problem with the harrier though is NZ CAA wont let it fly because its a single seat combat jet aircraft not owned and operated by the military. Its the same issue with the single seat vampires we have (theres about 8 of them) Unfortnuatly this also means the meat box will never fly even if it is restored to flyable condition.

I have no clue what their reasoning is. They let the T-bird vampires fly with 1 person, but they wont let the single seaters fly.

As far as plans go, must be good ones in magazines. Look at Scale Aircraft Modeler and of course FSM. That isn't such a great model; the one thing I would do is put FOD covers in those intakes. Those are the foreign object covers that get put in just as soon as the aircraft spools down. The model does have jet pipes though, something Airfix missed.

Pablo, are you looking for another kit to take parts from, or just pictures & information? I have seen a 1/72 Vulcan at a local shop, a Revell kit maybe? I remember thinking "COOL! - but where would I put it? " I'm guessing postage to you would be a fair amount of $$ though.
