My one goal this year is to put a big dent in the batch of "current builds" I have going. At last count it was around 30 kits or so... One way is to reduce the number of GBs I participate in. Aside from the couple I am already part of (and one I am running), this one and the Red Storm Rising are the only ones I will add this year... at least so far...

I know what you mean about "current builds" , if I were to post a pic of all my on-going builds , it would only confirm that I'm probably completely NUTS

Well you sure seem to be completing yours at a fairly consistent rate here my friend.

Helo I was woundering about that as well. My first thought was to do a netted load and run wires from the base, up the net and into the aircraft. The other option is a couple of clear rods, one back one at the front. But that would be easier for me as the aircraft is close to the ground when doing netted loads. I am not sure though what equipment they used back in 82. JHSU had only just been formed before the war, so the kit might have been pretty basic. Though the one you are doing is from a ship so that would be navy hookers i should imagine. I will get some pics for you ofthe underslung kit we use if that will be any help, might give you some ideas.

stik, ye deffo add another vote for the Etarndard. I know what you mean about GB's, i find them very addictive. And i have joined so many that i am bouncing from one kit to another but not finishing the dioramas, just the kits. So now the only new GB's i have joined lately have been crossovers.

30 on the go Stik?? Yup, you need a support group of some kind. (But don't feel the need to back out of this one!!!!) My list is shorter:

1. Revell P-38, not out of the box anymore. (My own GB)
2. Scratchbuilding a Horten wing (Manny's GB)
3. 1/72 Ki-61 for a Pacific GB that I completely stalled on, only needs cockpit glass, landing gear & decals.
4. 1/72 Zero, see above
5. 1/24 BMW 318 that I've been picking away at for a year, want to build it up as a rally racer.
6. Well, the brain is already thinking about this one, does that count?

Vance, it is at least 30... possibly a couple or three more. But several are very near the finish line, and if I restrict my number of new starts to this and one other GB...

So, with Bish, that makes to votes for the Super Entendard... and I do believe it has a folded wing option in the build, something I just tried recently and really enjoyed the finished look...

Wing folds too - no-brainer, gotta go Super Étandard on this one! Yes, I only have those on the go right now. And my new year's resolution was to only build out of my stash this year to try & get that knocked down a little. Since then I've picked up the 2 birds for this build - it's a disease!!!!

Oh and I just found some pics... with folded wings!

And I just added el_jere to the builders list - sounds like he may be a good source if anyone is looking for Argentine info.

OK, my selection is my Airfix1/48 Super Etendard, w/Exocet of course...

Have changed the GB to Falklands/Malvinas to reflect the Argentinian name of the conflict so as not to show biased, especially as we now have an Argentinian modeller on board the build.

Haven't gone looking at the locations listed in people's profiles, and it's really hard to pick up on the accent while typing! Not sure, you may have to do some rallying among your countrymen!

hmmm, doesn't look like any Brits other than you, yet. One lone Canadian (me), a couple of Aussies representing the Commonwealth. el_jere from Argentina, and the rest American. Still early though, and I remember seeing some names in the "feeler" thread that haven't shown up here yet.

like you say, loads of time. had am PM from a guy who i assume is American and seems to be big into the falklands. Seems to have a few kits, including vehicles. So hopeing he will join the band.

Hi guys, I'm British and live in Canada...I've even been to the Falklands a couple of times courtesy of the RAF. (After the war). Going to build a Chinook - not sure which yet though.

Wow, I remember it quite clearly. Perhaps it was my age at the time and the era combined to make it so. But it is sad to think of this as an "unknown war". It seemed pretty significant at the time, and historically/militarily I think it still ranks up there. Not for numbers but for events- very cutting edge at the time. With the Cold War getting more unpredictable with Reagan against Breznev, Afghanistan, Iraq- Iran,  Africa was in turmoil, Central America had multiple insurgencies, Lebanon was a modern land battle, the PLO attacks all over the region, Red Brigades in Europe, IRA in the UK, Libya/Chad... and then this one... 

Well I pulled the Super Etendard out of the stash for a look and to put her on the ready deck. That is really a nice kit, at least on the sprues and in the box. Recessed panel lines/detail. Flaps, refueling probe, speed brakes and tail hook can be built extended or retracted, folded wing option... And markings for a Falklands Argie Etendard... so far, so good...

Yes, I'm going to build the matchbox Chinook. not too sure whether to make it 'BN' or maybe an Argentine one. Wonder if there's any decals out there for one that went down on the Atlantic Conveyor?

I belive I´m going to build th SUE too, if you can get a resin cockpit since the provided is very very poor, the decals are garbirsh, full of inacuracies and poorly printed. www.condordecals.com.ar try that the hav a decal scheet for the kit (plus many other Malvinas/Falklands war airchafts decal, so you can split the decal scheet with othr guys from the GB)

The color codes in the instructions are quite poor too, if you need reference material sendme a PM.

The colour for th aircraft is Humbrol 125 with some drops of blue)
