If you are referring to the new 1/48 Aztek set, I am hoping it comes out and is in stock at the LHS before the end of this month. I really need the unit insignia for my Mirage. and it would be nice to know which Mirage the set provides numbers for as the early Mirage IIIEA's did not have R-550 Magic capability, but the later batch did.
Well here are my latest progress pics. First up what I did earlier in the week- I attached the air intakes
Then today was lots of work on the afterburner. The kit part was poor with same basic exterior detail for the petals, but nothing on the inner sides but a plain blank interior.
So I cut out the middle portion
Then I used a 1/35 55 gallon drum cut down to give it some depth, the center hub from an old B-26 main wheels for an improvised flame holder face, and multiple strips of plastic for some detail on the interior faces
once the glue for the strip styrene was dry I evened out their lengths and then glued the burner into the after fuselage housing and glued that in place on the airframe
and a few angle shots for a better view of the improved afterburner in place
Next I created the fin filet antenna from sheet plastic- the Mirage IIIE kit I have is French/Spanish/Swiss and those did not have the fin filet antenna...
and how everything looks as of now
Tomorrow I should be able to get seam work done from todays add ons and finish modifying the drop tanks to the type used in the war.
