Falklands/Malvinas War 30th Anniversary GB

Bish, I had a look at the front page yesterday and my Mirage is listed as an Airfix Super Etendard think we could could get that edited to reflect that it is a 1/48 ESCI Mirage IIIIE (modified by me into an EA)

Oh yes, can my previously existing, partialy built 1/48 Tamiya Sea Harrier be added? Or is it too far along (somehting like 70% build completed)

Stik, that should be a prolem. vance has to deal with that post, i am sure he will do it when he see's this. Had you origianlly planned on building an Etendard?

Yes, the Etendard was my original choice for a build. But when I saw a few of those being built here(and Harriers, and Skyhawks- which I have as GB subject matter for here in my stash) and no Mirages, I  changed my build to the Mirage.

No worries about editing the caption. I just figured it may be confusing to any visitors here.

What modifications you made on an Mirage III E to make a MIIIEA?

I always thought that the EA was the E version built to export to Argentina.

Yes, the Mirage IIIEA was a version special made to order for the FAA. Dassault would custom make batches of Mirages for each country with differing avioics packages. The Mirage III EA did not have the Doppler Radar bulge on the bottom of the fuselage below the cockpit of the standard IIIE, and it had the longer fairing at the base of the tail like a IIIC. The basic IIIE did not have that. Also there are a pair of blade antennas, one on each side of the tail, just below the fin cap. if you go back to look on my build, you can see where I made those changes with sheet styrene.

Anyone in here know how I can score a High Planes Dagger or Mirage???

Is it just my computer or are other FSM members having trouble looking at different forum pages . It's taken me two day's and many attempts just to view this page , everytime I tried previously to look at the current posts , nothing would come out . On some other Topics part of the last post seems to be missing or covered by the FSM black background and white lettering that's at the very bottom of each page .

This is very frustrating .

I get that as well. If i click last post, i just get the GB header. It has done that before on me. I have to go to the first p[age and then to the last one. I have also had that problem you mention as well, with half the post missing. It has happened every now and again since the change to the forum, but i haven't got round to reporting it.

I'll be painting the resin cockpit parts for the Argentine Canberra later today , so I may as well clean up the Dagger cockpit pieces and paint those at the same time and the Chinook will finally get paint on her as well .

John, seems to be working ok again now.

I have heard people talk about High Planes kits but i don't think i have ever seen one built. Its a real mix of mediums. And sounds like you have got a pretty full bench.

Mochilote, ye, jere is right, impressive indeed, and its comeing along leaps and bounds.

Fantastic work Mochilote, I just love it.

On the subject of High Planes Models, they've always been very 'limited run' in terms of quality, and needed some work.

The latest releases are much closer to mainstream. I've heard of people finishing construction of the Mirage in just a few hours.

There subjects are in my target areas, so I'll be building a few of the new releases without hesitation.

Wow, sprues (and pic that followed) look good. What are these kits going for? Thought I saw one listed for $40-50, but maybe my currency conversion was off. Interested in the Dagger.

That's great Mochilote. The eyes look absolutely right. How did you do the goggles ?

Vance - the going rate seems to be about $44 AUD give or take. I've seen a few in hobby stores for slightly less. I think it's worth shopping around.

A little steep for a 1/72 kit, BUT, I suppose, it does come with the resin & PE bits as well. Decals look good too.

Excellent work Mochilote 

Ben a bit quiet here for a couple of weeks, so thought i would bump it up.

We have one month left for any new entries, so get them in while you can.

I know I've said it a couple of times before but I will definitly get some paint on the Argentine Chinook this week . Been draggin' the chain a little of late but I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things , mostly because I have been researching and looking a pic's of the Sikorsky H-34 (S-58) Helo variants and want to get back into the S-58ET build . Should be able to make some good progress this coming week .
