Marc,

I'm ashamed to admit that the only thing I know less about WWI is how to paint/detail figures of any type.  And since I had this in my stash:

I figure a good way to knock out two birds with the proverbial pebble.  So that's my entry; 1/35 Verlinden WWI Trench Vignette.  Got it for cheap (like $8 on super saver last call clearance) a couple of years ago, and it's the only thing WWI in my stash.

So looking forward to this.

Matt - IPMS #46275

Anything goes Hans.  The only limitation... and I am really going to stand firm on this oneSuper Angry... you can't be dead.  It just drags the build out.

If you're permitting any scale, any manufacturer, any WW1 subject, then I'm in with the Revell 1/28th Fokker D VII and Revell 1/28th S.P.A.D. XIII.

Can you dig: Ritt. Hans von Hammer, AKA, "The Hammer of Hell"  matched up with Lt. Steve Savage, AKA "The Balloon Buster"?

Naturally ,with these guys being comic-book characters, I can use a little  "artistic license", lol..

I figure that since Von Hammer flew a Dr I similar to Von Richtoffen's red Fokker (he flew an all-red tripe with the "Iron Cross markings like MvRs, but added the"Kaiser face" used by Voss on his tripe's cowl), he'd simply follow the rest of the Luftstreitkräfte-plan when they started pulling the Dr I from service in late spring of 1918 and replacing the veteran Jasta aircraft with D VIIs..

MvR had already test-flown the D VII a few times before his death in April of  '18, said he wanted them for his unit, and "poof"... Jasta 11 was one of the first to be re-equipped with it... As for Savage's  S.P.A.D., I've got the original release with Eddie Rickenbacker's markings, so it'd be better doing Savage's mount than Hammer's other arch-enemy, The Hangman",which would need French markings (and be painted a rather disugusting bright yellow)

"Savage" is loosely based on Frank Luke, who was the "real Balloon Buster"... Savage wears a cowboy hat and a brace of Colt Peacemakers while he flies, and has even shot down enemy aircraft with his pistols, lol...

But here's a little about Luke:

In seventeen days in September, 1918, in just nine days of combat flying, ten missions, and only thirty hours of flight time, he knocked down fourteen enemy balloons and four aircraft (seven planes according to some sources).

Sorry to have prattled on about this, but I'm a little excited about doing a WW1 Group build...  It'll be a refreshing change from my current projects...

Hmm I was signed up for a WW1 GB on another forum, but the freaking thing was for 3 months only. I have the kit, but not started-

Roden Felixstowe F.2 in 1/72. The one with the twin Lewis gun position added in the top wing.

Good choice of names. Ensures endless and costly GB's in the foreseeable future.

The WWI Gb is a reality.  It's all about fun and the exchange of ideas and info.  Which is good since I really know so little about this war.

This is open to all scales, categories and media. Out of the box, massive AM goodies or completely scratch built.

May 1, 2011 to EDIT: Extended indefinitely

If your timing has you end a project and you have a gap you can't fill before the start date... have at.

Like the Captain of the Black Pearl said, "It's not so much a rule as it is a guideline."
