Lots of great builds going on here Eats and I can see my album growing a bunch more. Its nice to see the interest in the Monogram kits by such talented builders.

Don Hammer me thinks you will be running round 2 as I think this group is going to be very successful indeed. Oh and Owl I give kudos to, as she is pretty gutsy  pickin on "The Don" like she does LOL

the real red baron

boy i wish i could participate in this group build one problem my LHS doesnt stock monogram kits

I have to agree with Hammer.  What's your local store?  They've got to have new kits, at least, even if the store isn't a classic mom-and-pop hobby shop that might have a stash of old kits.

HobbyTown and HobbyLobby are both chain stores that carry Revell-Monogram, as do the arts-and-craft stores Michael's and AC Moore.  At the latter two, you'll find at the very least the P-51D, the P-61, the P-40B, the P-38, the F4U-4 and the AT-6 Texan, plus the Huey, which are all orginally Monogram moldings.  They also carry car kits, but I'm not as well-versed in those, to be able to say which were original Monogram kits, without looking them up, except for any of the Tom Daniel custom cars (eg, the Red Baron hot rod).  And AC Moore has started carrying the new issues of the old 1/32 armor kits, too.

HobbyTown will those aircraft kits that I mentioned, as well as the large bomber kits.

Also, if you use eBay, run a search on Monogram kits, and you'll find a ton of them up at any given time.

Hope that helps, it's a shame if you can't participate!

you have an album? And added my kit?  Wow, I'm honored, sir!  Toast  I don't mind at all.

I finished up the cockpit assembly and painting. Have I mentioned that cockpits are my favorite parts of a build? A little dry brushing and a wash helped bring out details. The only thing I needed to do to fit the TD seat in was to shave off a [  shaped area on the cockpit floor that Monograms seat lined up with. Other than that, it slipped right in.  A drop of Future on the gauges simulates glass.

and here it is all bucked up into the two fuselage sides.

Got my triple Wild Turkey Manhattan ordered just before the bell. And I have one more, but it won't be official. A total strip down and rebuild of a P-61, sat on a shelf collecting dust for ten years until summuns fat and clumsy brother-in-law dropped it.

lol, guys, lol.

I took no offense at all. I looked at the post within context.

and Thank you very much for the comments on the IP panel. Bow Down  Considering all the people who see my models in real life have no idea what they are talking about, getting compliments from those who do really means lot to me!

nice i cant do anything when i comes to cockpits!

well i make 1:72 scaled models so there isn't to much detail i can do there.

i cant afford the larger ones and they are all over $34 AUD

even for a mustang (they are my worst favourite aircraft not sure why but i hate them) i am looking forward to seeing this one.

Just for the record, I wasn't being "pro-PC", V-man.... I was just flat being a smart-azz, and thought it was funnier quoting you out of context....

No one who knows me would EVER accuse me of Political Correctness, lol...   I think "political correctness" is pure BS and that it makes people liars...  "And", to quote the Master, "if you disagree with me, you're a racist homophobe and worse than Hitler."...

(Yeah, I'm a Greg-a-logue fan)

Also, I wasn't trying to defend you either, Owl.. You don't need it...Toast

If you are on a tight budget like I am, get your kits on eBay.  1/48 and even some 1/32 kits can be gotten for a really small amount of cash.  I just scored an ESCI 1/48 F-104 for $4 and $3 to ship...  New and still sealed old stock.

Hans I meant no offense and took none, I too was being a bit of a smart allic  in my comment, to bad no one could see the snickering going on at my end. I think thats the tough part of text communication because its easy to read things out of context at times, you cant hear the voice or see a face.  I too can not be even remotely accused of being PC, and I live in California Stick out tongue I think some would like me not to live here. Surprise  Just seemed a funny comeback to me. My mistake was not using the Clown face at the end.

And you are right me thinks Hans, Miss Owl can hold her own.

Ok got the scariest part of the F-15 done tonight, at least I found it the worst part pf the build. Got the nose cone glued in place finally, and best of all its on straight Smile and panel lines are in the right place. I will post pictures tomorrow evening.

Hmmmmm...guess I'll have to look in the back of the stash for something else....I've blown through most of my other Monogram stuff..

No sweat.. Like I said, your slot's locked in, so you got some time...  A lot of Revell's current 1/48th stuff is ex-Monogram. That's to say, Revell, not Revell-Germany, however.. Chances are, if it's in a dark blue box, it's a NO-GO...

Also, dunno if you caught my post about "Monogram Classics"... But some are in boxes with the classic Monogram box art, but are NOT pre-merger Monogram molds... Like the "Monogram Classic P-51B"... It's a "Blue Box", but it's a reproduction, as it were... The model itself is the new-tooling P-51B/C, and not the Jim Howard "Ding Hao!" kit from the 60s, although the decals for it are in there...   So you CAN build Jim Howard's P-51B, you just can't build his "Classic" P-51B...

Kinda pizzed me off... I don't usually get caught like that, lol...  Stickin' to "White-box"...

Thanks, Hans.  I remember seeing the "Monogram Classics" post, but can't for the life of me find it.  So, if you would be so kind as to point me in the right direction...if you have the time.  As for the F-86, I already started it as part of a Father/son build, but my boy decided "Black Ops" was more important for the moment.

One more thing, I do believe the old tom Daniels Red Baron car was an original Monogram kit.  I built it as a kit and disappeared when my Dad cleaned out my old stuff when I went into the USAF.  But I still have the Hot Wheels car that came with the kit and it is worth a few bucks!   I always wanted to re-build that kit and Hobby lobby has it.....do you give that a thumbs up?

Yup, the Red Baron re-release is a go... I had that Hot Wheels RB too.. It wouldn't work in my Hot Wheels Super-Charger though...

So you're down for the Saber and the RB car, right?

Yup...put me down for the RB.  Appreciate the quick response.  I'll pick it up, today.  I haven't built a car in decades, so it should be fun....  Eventually, I'll build the tri-plane as well.

As for the Sabre, base coat of Alclad is down and I am now taping it off to apply different panel shades.

One more thing, Hobby-Lobby has a Revell 1:48 JU-87...is that an old rebox Monogram?

It's a re-box of the ProModeler, but it was post-merger, IIRC... Neither one is a GO..  Got one of 'em m'self..

Ja, but I never met any Jap pilots or Aussie kids.... I did meet Macky Steinhoff and Eric Hartmann, however... Macky especially didn't like Mustangs.. Wink Hartmann never fought with any, but he was always worried he'd come across them when the USAAF started the shuttle-missions..

That's why I said that "I knew", lol...

Oh hell, yeah.. That's the only week I go to HL, lol... I use 'em for everything I buy there; kits, paint, tools, diorama and building materials, even used 'em to buy my bench and airbrush/compressor...

I usually go twice in one day too... Once in the morning, then again after cashier's shift-change... Get around the "One Coupon per Day" thing thataway... Three times if the Baroness von Hammer goes along, lol... I haven't paid full price for anything there in the last 2 1/2-3 years..
