Klik,

Hope the shoelace solution works fr you.  Cross contamination is what the forums are all about!  Yes

My first Zaku was also a Char's Zaku, but painted green.  I used the old Pactra Authentic International Color enamels, the ones in the short fat jars.  I miss that line of paint, as it covered so well and so fast.

IMHO, the Ball is pretty involved, as it has a lot of pieces.  It does look like it goes together well, and you did a very nice job!

So after you paint up a pair of shorts, do you have your next model picked out?

Real G

Klik,

Ms. Hamon wears short shorts?  Ramba Ral didn't strike me as a Daisy Duke kind of guy.  Surprise

For your Zaku, how about using shoelaces for your conduit covers?  You should be able to find a color that matches the model.  Just run a cord or something inside to keep its shape, and you should be good to go.  Hope that helps.

BTW, congratulations for being the first OYW GB guy across the finish line!

Shoelaces are a great idea, one that, frankly, I hadn't considered. I'll have to take a look; they're nearly the right size, and being able to  find the color I need (thinking light grey or blue) makes me feel a whole lot better--no more overpainting preexisting colors.

Did you know that the Zaku started out as Char's? Painting over all the pink plastic was a pain in the ***, and required three coats to completely hide the original color.

Thanks, with regards to the Ball. It was a really simple 1/100th scale kit (the easiest that I have ever done, with the exception of the arms).

Keep up the great work, everyone. (and eventually, I'll get around to giving Ms. Harmon long pants, and blonde highlights Angel)

 Real G:

Klik,

OMG, Ms. Hamon is not wearing any pants!!!  "Men, find her a pair of pants ASAP.  That's an order!  And someone close that door!!!"

LOL!

i did a similar thing with a fantasy figure in 25 mm (dragon lance heroes if not wrong) .. she wear leather pants but i've ignored it Stick out tongue

Klik i'll put for now the Ball as finished, you're the first YesYes i'll offer you a beer when you come in Italy Beer

call me when you sure about the zaku!

good work at all on both subject.

I'm about finish an elicopter and a plane, so i'll perform a workbench cleaning of two subject releated pieces/sprues/boxes. After this i can focus on the two ms.

Ms. Harmon, huh? Never got her name, but she does have shorts on under that dress she's wearing.

As for the tubes, I was thinking of string, but thick enough to appear as a cloth covering over the 'missing' tubes. So, yeah, cold weather modifications. Now, I just have to hit a hobby story and find the right thread. Zakus just never look complete without the leg piping.

And bsyamato, I'll have to take up that beer offer in a couple more years...not 21 yet, and that's the drinking age around here. That, and it's an awfully long way to Italy.Captain

I think you're right about the Zaku's head shape being a little off.  Your high angle photo seems to show the head is too narrow and the armored conduit pipes are too fat.  Funny because the head looked fine to me from the side.  It just goes to show that I don't pay enough attention.  (My grade school report cards said the same thing!)

The Ball looks bad-ass good!

For your Zaku, are you planning on using a braided hose type material, or something like a cloth hose with tie-downs like a Chieftain tank's thermal sleeve?  I thought the latter approach would be appropriate for a Zaku "Cold Weather District Use" type.

Thanks for posting piccies!

I took out the Dom to work on last night, but had to take care of something that came up.  I'll try to post progress photos soon though.

 Real G:

Klick - We don't demand proof, but we demand piccies!  Wink  I'd love to see how you treated the Zaku head.

Aallllrrriigght, fine, if you insist. I've been meaning to get better pics of my Zaku and Ball anyhow. Now, if I could just round up all the troops, I'll get them posed for a pic with the Zaku head. [I built it straight up, so it looks odd (a dismembered Zaku head).]

Now, I only need to find my camera, and I'll be back with pics!Camera

Back, and with PICS:

first, the Zeon forces, called out of hiding:

The Blonde lady (whose name I forget) I made a Brunette because try as I might, I just couldn't get blonde hair to look the way I wanted it to (as for her legs, I needed a test bed for some new flesh-tone paint I got, and she was the only figure within reachBlind Fold, and she still isn't finished: need to paint her pants). Forgive me for the wood block behind them; I needed it to keep them upright, as the only one who would stand up was the guy on the bike.

The Zaku head:

In this pic, you can see its odd shape:

(Blurry pic. Apoligies) Most of the coverings are removable, but I left the interior partially painted, so its nothing worth photographing. The stand it sits, yes, sits in is the only provided way to display the head without some major modifications to it. The eye is supposed to move on a track behind it (partially visible in the first pic), but mine doesn't, due to building complications, irreparable for the fact that I glued the clear covering onto the head instead of leaving it removable.

And finalized pics for the Ball:

Also for my Zaku, which I am calling done. I'll keep my eyes out for some string of the gauge that I want (I'm thinking of making it look like the coolant tubes were covered in cloth, while keeping the legs posable), but its done for the time being.

"Final" Pics:

And one, closer up (check that pink eye):

Oh, OK.  I don't really listen to J-pop either, so I don't know who Linkin Park is.  (God, I suck!)

Yeah, I'm just here to buy the model kits.

So what is the deal about the black and white color scheme of the GP-01?  Was it featured in one of their videos?

Since I don't read comics, what is the "thousand suns" thing referring to?  The detonation of the nuke at the naval review in the OVA?  Inquiring minds want to know.

For me I just know Dennis Alexio just because of the movie Kickboxer. Also, I've seen his fight (if you would even call it that) in person.  And I used to practice martial arts and I'm a big martial arts fan too.

I kinda thought that pose would be more of a UFC/MMA thing, or some type of boxing. Never really thought about it as Tekken.  Btw, Eddie does Capoeira (brazillian Martial arts) so a reference would be made to a different movie: Only the Strong. Hmm, I wonder if I can get it the zaku to pose in a Capoeira stance? Ironically the main actor Mark Dacascos is also from Hawaii too.

Sorry to go off on a tangent from Gundam, so let's get back on. Ever seen this chick before:

Her name is Tomoe Ogoshi. She's my girlfirend although she doesn't know it yet. :-p She's used to be in Hobby Japan Magazine and had her own how to build gundam section.

bsyamato,

Here's some info about Johnny Ridden:

Johnny Ridden

Dennis Alexio

Dennis Alexio is one of the most well know kickboxers out there.  He's known for wearing a hula skirt in his matches.  His matches are unbelievable.  Most of his matches are KO in like 10 seconds into the match. He's definitely a Newtype! He was also in Kickboxer(The dude who ended up in the wheelchair).

The stripes around his hip is supposed to be a hula skirt.  It's kinda hard to see from the angle.  Also I didn't get a chance to layer it like a real hula skirt.

Here's the pics of the work in progress.  So far everything is pretty much straight out of the box. Nothing interesting to report here.  Almost done clipping out most of the pieces.

Is it Dennis Alexio or is it Johnny Ridden? You decide!

Hey Orkork, just a heads up, on your post, on the right where it says more, you can click that and hit edit, so you dont have to pose and correct yourself.

Edit: see, I just had to do it, thought the button said extra, it didn't, it said more
