in 97 i finished my one year military service Cool

When i started to build something i had non confrontation with other who build kit, no one near to me (at least at good level) and only resources for references was only magazines and enciclopedies .

Out of advices remember that the best critics are self critics,  to improve skill Propeller

Man, some awfully nice 1/72 MiG done already! Still trying to figure out what to enter...may have to go with my 1/72 Hasegawa MiG-23 just to stay with the trend.

Dupes, here another mig-23,

Casper sign another kit on the list, the 23 from airfix 1/72

heres the sprues

houston we have a cockpit!!!!

but i'm sure i'll use only the ip (if the instruments location are corrects)

test fittings

this time the clear canopy fit decently! only the frames are too weak printed, i'll cut in two after.

not too bad the gears but not comparable to the hasegawa/academy flogger kit

raised panels naturally, but this thime i'll rescribe all.

First work on the exhaust

after i'll scratch the afterburner chamber, i did theses works watching the TV in the kitchen, then i used only cutters and glue.

opened the air intakes below part

also the 80% of panel lines was rescribbed and the front gear well was opened (two millimeters of dept don't seems so real Sad )

At first looking when brought this kit i don't like too much (paid 4 € for it) but it take more intresting with the mods opportunity Stick out tongue , plus the plastic is really good despite the orrible silver color (why used this color on kits??)

that's all for the kitchen session

Well the Mrs. went to her mothers for the weekend, so I'm getting a lot done!  Construction phase complete!  I will be hand brushing the camo pattern from the box art, and the decals from the box for a former soviet plane.

I used a True Details resin KM-1 ejection seat, Scale Aircraft Conversions metal landing gear, and Eduard PE cockpit details and mask set.

With the ordinance that will be hung...

I did a bit of scratch building on the gun sight, I wasn't impressed with the box one, and the PE was a horrible pain in the *** to work with.

A tricky thing to hand brush, jailcop. Good luck and can't wait to see the camo job.

nice work on the fishbed Yes

Not bad the spit also (a refine on the lefty yellow stripe needed? )

As paint brush the thing is just lots of try, use really soft brushes an try on another surface the color to find the right thinning percentage. Also waith more time than when you airbrush between other layers on Toast

Well I'm calling it finished, I'm calling it "Dirty Fishbed" as I left a bit more of the Flory's dark dirt wash on for more weathering.  Camo pattern came out well, but having done two camo patterns by hand, I'm really ready to invest in an airbrush!

Nice Fishbed! I'll be doing the new Eduard offering myself sometime in the New Year. Also well done on the hand painting. Good practice for when you get fitted out with an airbrush.

I'll update the front page

Ok, so it's MiG time for me and I'm doing this newish Eduard kit from early 2011

Lot's of nice detail in here including coloured PE and some resin ordinance

Getting some of the wheelbays done. I have been experimenting with the new range of Tamiya panel line paints and they are really helping with definig details in the wheelbays. It has just the right consistency to be quite runny and go where it's meant to. A bit of practiced needed though.

Cheers

Some more work on the MiG

It's a smaller plane than I thought. Long but narrow. like an arrow.

Some inside details;

And got it glued together;

Looks like a metal tube at the moment. Got the tailpiece together and the wheelbays finished as well.

Cheers

when I built my MiG-21, I too was surprised by its size (or lack of it). Its just about the same length as a WW2 fighter's wingspan!  Surprise

Now that I'm here, where am I??

Some more work on the Fishbed.

Fuselage and wings plus most greeblies in place. A lot of extras on this kit. Nice little bits of detail that most kits would do all in one piece.

Green cockpit. Was meant to be Aqua but I cheaped out on the paint and tried to mix my own. Close but not quite. It should be the same colour as the PE.

Very nicely detailed wheelbays in this kit;

Nice Brassin UB-16 rocket launchers, I'm giving these the Alclad treatment and they should look great.

Cheers

The Fishbed is almost ready for painting.

Finished work on the landing gear and the UB-16s. They came out nicely with the Alclad

Got the camo pattern laid down on the fishbed;

I used the blu-tak method with cut out masks from copy paper. Just gave the right amount of feathering on a really light, misty spray. Still under the masking tape is the under colour of RLM light Blue. When this has dried I'll do the burner in Alclad magnesium and exhaust bands.

Landing gear attached, weapons installed. Just painting up the pitot and then a panel wash.
