Sorry Boyd...but I'm more than thrilled about the outcome of last night's game. Pats lose to the Giants. AGAIN.

You know, as I told my friend today at work - the Giants won the Superbowl, I went home, got some firewood, banked up the fire, did some chores and went to bed.

I would have done the same thing if the Pats won.

Beside, I'd say the city of Boston has been on a pretty good run this last decade or so. Not like I've got anything legit to complain about.

Plugging away on the Pz.Beobs.Wg - for a change of pace, I'm doing it backwards (who says you have to do roadwheels first?). Turret is almost done!

Welcome to our club... married men do everything backward just to drive their wives crazy.  Please do not hesitate to post a picture when you have the chance.  Have you talked with Boyd since the big game?  Hope he is doing OK...

Any questions?

Yes Great game.

That was IMHO the best superbowl game I have EVER seen. From the start to the very end it was exciting. To make it better my team won. Sorry Boyd, maybe next year?

Carlos- Nice scratch built chair!!! Yes

Chazzer- What a great game!  One of the best SB games ever despite poor officials performance?  Happy for The Giants and Peyton's lit bro Eli.

well not much progress this weekend except some prep work...got the second seat finished....used milliput to mold the seat cushions..pressed the putty into the kit seat to get the fabric-wrinkle pattern then cut and shaped with a modeling knife to fit the new frame...

Boyd- Patriots?  Oh boy as your GB moderator I have to expel you.  LOL  Hope we will see a great game tomorrow.  Looking forward to see pictures of your StuG!

Armor86- Great process on your Pz!  My wife and boys went camping for Boy Scout last weekend and I am not kidding.  Temp was only 25 degree and it snowed in the morning.  Fortunately I had to work so I couldn't join them but I was fighting sinus infection for a while.

Malone- That's six Imperial kit... this is great!  Glad you are back!  I will make sure to bring this up when we post all of our results in Armors thread when GB ends.  Looking forward to see paint on it next...

Guys- It is great that we are seeing alot of process.  Where did the month of January go?  Can't wait to come back with my StuG to finish it.  I am still working on 1:35 Huey UH-1H as a birthday gift for a good friend.

Keep them coming... and for Boyd, GO GIANTS!!!  Beer

Back from some winter camping with a Boy Scout Troop over the weekend last however it didn't feel like January and returned from a 4 day business trip ... Updated photo with some interior detail thru the side hatch and detailed painting on the tow cable. Have a couple of tools to work over and paint ...

The 1/48 Ausf L looks great with the interior. Armor86

Hey Boyd!  Good having you back!  I am really looking forward to follow another Imperial WIP... I don't think I have seen many Imperial kits built in a GB.  So far I count four... maybe more?  Carl (Shellback), Greg (detail freak), mine and yours.

Hate to say this but I am rooting for the Giants... with my city being the host for Super Bowl I will try to be nice to your Patriots fans. Wink

Hey Deafpanzer

Thanks for the props.... and I'm happy to take them... but as he already pointed out, that would be Marc (aka Dupes) that you're talking about, not me.

That doesn't mean I have forgotten this GB. My Stug is about done - base coated and just needing a bit of time to get the tracks on and it'll be ready for some serious paint.... pics, ummmmmmm...., soon... yeah, that's it.... Sooon. Whistling

Oh, and while we are on the subject: GO PATS!!!!!

Dupes!!!  LOL I am on medication for my sinus infection so my mind hasn't been sharp for last two weeks.

Thanks for the info about your StuG A... that's fifth Imperial.  I bet some of those Cyber-Hobby kits we have seen here are re-boxed Imperial kits...

Hope you are getting used to the chain and ball thing by now. Zip it!

Andy -

a) I'm Dupes...Boyd is that "other guy". Hah!

b) That StuG III A I built was also an Imperial Series issue. Heck, I've got a pile more if you're looking for any.

c) I am in no way a Pats fan. Unfortunately (based on how their last 3 weeks ended up), I'm a Jets fan, but I'm sure I can find a way to root for the Giants instead!

Can't really do paintwork on my living room bench (construction only!), so I hauled out my second build last night - the Pz.Beobs.Wg III Ausf. H. Another DML Imperial Series kit for the shelf!

Pics once I've got something to look at. Yes

Chazzer-  Welcome back!  Yeah I notice it has been quiet for a while but I don't think it will stay that way for long.

Carlos- WOW!  Great scratch building there.  Hope you got my emails with pictures of the interior I sent today...   please do not let the pin up pictures distract you!

OK....been away for a while....I was finishing up some other builds for the Japanese GB ( take a peek...nice stuff over there)....now on to my III...heres the kit laid out...

Tamiya's 1/48 Panzer III Ausf L with Verlinden resin interior.

nice kit....great detail and I like that the scale is the same as my planes...they display well together.  I like the detail of the Verlinden set but have one complain....nice detail in the drivers compartment but only in the rear. Theres no detail up front except for a lone seat and just one...I dont get it....you can see the front thru the hatch and if you take the turret off, so why not add those parts too AT LEAST THE SECOND SEAT!!! So scratchbuilding time....too lazy to go to my LHS I started to look around for spares and "raw material". I researched a bit the compartment and found some pics of the front compartment....seats, levers the transmission and assorted fiddly bits.

so using the plastic my insurance card came in I made the transmission housing

and an old piece of the engine front from a Nichimo Kate I am shaping to form the shaft housing...you can see the outline I drew of the housing front on the plastic....I know its not true in shape but hey...I couldnt get it right so...close enough for gov't work....(artistic liberty)

so on to the seat..here you see the resin seat and what I used to make the other one...same card plastic and the wire from a thick twist tie

from some pics, I saw it has a tube frame and lightening holes in the back

and here are the two...now I need to find something to make the seat padding

here they are with the compartment ...I just fixed them with white glue for now...and you can also see the transmission...I still need to sand and shape it some more and add some bolts and maybe some more fiddly bits,,

and as you can see...like I said..you can see the compartment from through the top..

so..Im having fun.....and happy so far,,,,wadda'ya think.....I'm not a big armour builder so any suggestions are VERY welcomed.

Hey my friend Greg... your Pz is looking real good!  I can't remember this because I have been on med for cold for two days.  Are you planning to keep that red primer on the front extra armor plate?  If so, that would be cool.  Assuming it was done on the field in a rush and they haven't had the chance to paint it.
