I know my skills aren't high but I've built enough kits to know that this one (MPM A6M5k) sucks. Tons of flask on all parts and major gaps. i'm reminded of when Calvin (and Hobbes) was building an F-4 when the landing gear strut broke. He took a hammer and smashed it to peices and declared it destroyed from anti-aircraft fire.

TREY-  Awesome and quick work! I like salt weathering for Japanese aircraft...suits them well.

I worked OT all weekend, finishing up storm damage from Irene, but still had a little time tonight to close up the fuse on my Emily....horrible fit! Gonna try using caulk for the seams, too much raised detail for alot of sanding. I`ll try to post some pics soon.

Len: 'Baka Brothers' did make me smile Good luck with repairing the storm damage, all we got was a little wind and not even any rain.

Cockpit is together, washed, and dry-brushed. Found a big injection pin hole right in the middle of the control panel and am repairing it. Will have photos when the cockpit is finished.

I just finished my Tiger Meet A-7 so I should be starting my contribution here really soon.

I picked up a 1/48 Tamiya  Hyakushiki Shitei III Recon Plane at the model show this weekend that I may build for this GB, if when I open the box it looks like a good one to build.

In response to Gameras request.  Here are a few photos of my recently completed N1K1 Prototype.  The kit is Hasegawa 1/72, built strait from the box.  Paints are Tamiya acrylics.  Decals are all kit supplied. 

The prototype 'Rex' was designed with conta-rotating props.  This did not work because the gearbox created excessive vibrartion and production N1K1s were equipped with a 3-bladed prop.  the follow on land based versions N1K2 and N1K2-Ja were modified for land operation and given 4-balde props.

I chose not to weather the model (although it will get a light coat of flat) because the kit instructions say the decals are for a 'Sevice Test' aircraft - not the factory prototype that would have been yellow/orange, but an aircraft maintained by Kawanishi factory mechanics and tested by the Navy before it is accepted into service.  Therefore there are no tail-codes. 

This is not for the group build as it was more than 50% completed when the GB began.  Now that this one is airborne I'll post some pictures of progress on the RS Models Tachikawa Ki-94-II.

Can someone instruct me how to make the images a bit smaller??

Kevin, looks like a real solid build.   A very unusual subject concept, which adds to the interest.  I think a shot of flat will help with the finish realism.

As for the pic size, your's looks fine, I believe there are some adjustments which can be made with the property function.

I do happen to like unusual or exotic Japanese subjects - hence my decision to build a Ki-94-II and Ki-78 'Rob' for the group build.  I'm going to take the canopy off tonight and repaint the frames (since I kind of messed it up the first time) and while the canopy is off spary a light coat of flat. 

I really have no idea how weathered or worn a service test aircraft might have gotten.  Seems to me the factory mechanics might have kept it looking pretty sharp at least until the plane was accepted for production.  I could be wrong however - it has been know to happen.

Ok. It's official mark me down for the KI-46 Dinah recon bird. I started the pit last night. You guys are right it is falling together so far.

Kevin: Wow, she looks great. I guess you could go with a little soot around the stacks but if she's a prototype I agree I wouldn't expect to see much of any weathering. The image sizes are fine, the website adjusts them automatically.

Bsyamato: Very cool! Unless anyone has any issues it looks ready to me. I'll try to get the other badges up soon. Sorry I keep dragging my feet but my home computer wants to randomly shut off and now my ISP is randomly up and down- it's annoying the krap out of me.

if you use windows better way is to format and do a new intallation gamera or leave windows and install ubuntu

Bsyamato: Thanks but from what I'm seen my computer problems seem to be a hardware thing. Something seems to randomly short-out but I don't know what it is. I've taken it to two different repair guys and it runs fine for them. I'm beginning to think it might be the power supply though.  

In this case is probably an excessive amount of dust inside and after long time pc on,  can produce more hotness than normal, triyed to opened the case? try to open before to buy some new component and buy another kit

Bsyamato: I dunno, the computer is setting on my desk with the cover off now, and I'll blown out the dust with my airbrush compressor hose. I'm hoping whatever is bad will burn out for good and then I'll know what the problem is and can replace it.

Is your badge done or were you going to do more work on it?

Depending on the age of your computer it sounds like a capcitor issue, there was at least one batch of motherboards that failed early because of blown capacitors. The little "cans" particularly the green ones, look for these with bulging ends (the normally have a bare metal top with an "X" scribed on them, this X is a safety release I think.

Just as an aside blowing the dust out with an air compressor is a risky business, compressed air can cause significant amounts of static, you need to ensure everything is well grounded to prevent damage to the ram modules or the various processors.

You guys are killing me. I'd love to sneak my 1/2 finished Zero in. LOL No, don't talk me into it. LOL I might pop a picture if I ever finish it. I have the office and fuselage done. I'm not an A/C guy, but I do love japanese A/C for some reason. I think it's asthetics. Many are so clean like the Ki-84, Ki-45. Yup, gonna go shopping at the IMPS show this weekend for some decals, canopy masks for some that are in the stash. Any recommendations are appreciated.
