Theuns, that is one sleek looking machine Yes And obviously you are making rapid progress Stick out tongue

Well, I have finally cleared up enough projects to where I can now start my build for here... the old 1/48 Tamiya Ki-84 Hayate aka Frank. I will be using AM decals and an old Airwaves PE set to dress it up a little bit...

I started with the cockpit and added a seat with lap belts and some rudder pedals from the Airwaves set.

and I built up the engine (not much to build there Geeked Wink )

painting to commence soon and more progress pics to follow

F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...

Looks good Theuns, I always thought that was a cool looking plane.

Theuns: The only colour I've seen is Mitsubishi Army Grey. I forget what brand of paint I use, I'll check though it may not be readily available where you live.

And a big oops! on my part, I was going to check my references and clear forgot. I'll try to remember to look tonight- sorry.

This kit is just falling together! This is about total of maybe 5-6 hours of work.

I think the only bit of filling and sanding will be on the nose section. I hope the glass will fit as well as the rest of the model, the entire top fuselarge is made of clear plastic although most of it is painted !

I like the engines, they are well detailed and look cool inside the cowls.

Hasa 1/72 Dinah

Anyone know how the crew would enter the cockpits? Would they walk allong the wing's root? If so witch one, left or right? I have no idea how the Dina's cockpit opened.

What would be the bottom colour for a green Dinah? I have seen pix of a restored one and the bottom looks allot more "light sky-blue" than IJN grey.

Any ideas on this?

The pilot and observer look really good! You've got a better eye and hand than me to paint 1/72nd figures that well.

I don't think I've ever seen a Dinah in anything other than the green over grey scheme. I'll look at my references when I get home but I can't recall anything other than the standard green/grey.

Really nice kit this!

Do any of you know if this Dinah would have flown in the all IJN grey sceeme?

The decal sheet states that but I can not find any pix of the full size in that colour.

Hasegawa 1/72 KI-46 "Dinah". I bought this plane purely for the sleek good looks to it (and it also halped that I got it at 70% off usual price LOL!)

Hasegawa 1/72 Dinah

In the box it all looks nice. Finely recessed lines and I hope the fit is as good as was on my 1/48 Hasa Zeke.

Beautiful work there Swede! Kinda hard to make a monochromatic finish look good but you've done a great job there! If you should want to do another Japanese aircraft before the end of the year the GB runs till Dec 31.

Guys, my favorite aunt passed away Sunday morning and I'm feeling kinda out of sorts so I probably won't be around for awhile. Should be back by the weekend though.

I know it is very late in the game for this group build but thought I would throw my Tamiya 1/48 freshly completed A6M2 Zero into the mix.  I hope that is okay but my apologies if the late entry is not protocol.  No prior group builds for me.

Anyway, had some fit issues with the wings and not real pleased with the canopy, but I guess it came out ok considering my very modest skill level.

Some very nice builds here.

Cliff... Your choice my friend... Thats what I love about these GB's I get to see and admire so many others here and get to learn from and show others my humble attempts at building.

BSY, Love ya brother... Just dont know what to make of your response!(LOL)

Len, LOL... I was trying to reproduce a failing, sputtering engine I saw in a picture and I guess I got it about half right,LOL...When I was a kid (too many years ago) we used to do alot of paper machette(sp) and I have found that it does lend itself to our craft at times. Trick is the right ammount of flour, salt and water, and for good measure I add some white glue to help it along(speeds up the set time)

Thank you for your critiques and comments, helps me to do better the next time!

Your modeling buddy...

Have to agree with Bsyamato- that's just stunning work Doug!!! Love the windmilling prop, the smoke trail from the damaged engine, the shot-up rear gunner, the base, gee I love the whole she-bang!!!

Kudos sir!!!!!

You should post her over on the diorama and/or aircraft forums!!!

Slow ISP here at work, I'll get her posted to the front page tonight, any photo you'd prefer that I go with?

Lets try this again, Just got a new computer and still trying to learn its ways, so please forgive me for mistakes...

This Ki 45 Toryu flown by Nobuji Negishi has been assigned to the 3rd Chutai 53rd Sentai for the homeland defense from the relentless waves of B-29 bombers. This "Dragon Slayer" has just tangled with a Super Fort and both craft were critically if not fatally wounded. His port engine a Mitsubishi HA-102 is faltering from battle damage and the starboard engine strains to keep her aloft. The villagers below see their brave defender in trouble. They stop and say a silent prayer as he passes overhead.
