More progress;

I put spacers on the intake ducts to attach them to the fuselage intakes:

It's that little white rectangular block.

Here' both sides:

Dom, you still have the bondo bird?! I hope you're not overbudget as well...Wink

Overbudget two years ago. I make governments look like saintsAngel

Yeah, it's the Bondo-Bird......She's back, an uglier'n ever:

I put those ground support steps in to hold the duct in place:

I cut a floor plank to cover the steps and support the duct from underneath:

There's the reinforced duct, tell your surgeon how it is done:

Here' the runt photo, that because of Byll Gaytes, is a runt:

Here's the forward duct up to the splitters:

I need to round off the end of those turbine shaft posts:

I will continue to share, but many of you will be great, great, great gran dads, and you can show your great, great, great, great, grandkids your hobby!

I think I started my F-4G on the same build GB.  I think I did that part with poster tack.  I always heard about blue-tack and found some 3M stuff in Target or something.

Keep going!  I hope it turns out great and look forward to watching the progress.

68GT

" Created paper masks held in place with blue tak / poster tack type stuff"

It works pretty good also.  Below is a long term 1/72 Phantom project that I started to freehand the camo.  I then applied the paper mask and it worked very well even over my freehand stuff.  The amount of fuzzy edge you get will depend on the angle you spray the paint on in relation to the paper.

Hey 68GT, nice paint job going, I like that vivid green transition from the splitter to the fuselage.Yes

That Dryer hose n your picture is what exhausts my spray hood to the outside as well, it uses the same duct as the dryer, so that is convenient.

Looking forward to firing the booth up soon, lots of painting to do in the future:

I'm a very tardy, late, past the deadline poster, but that's my ride, and Mike said to soldier on here.

I'll be posting a few of the additions as I go, I started this on Mike's RhinoMania thread about 3 years back, so it feels right to try and complete her here. She's a Revell 1/32 F-4G, but i call her and F-4P because of the 7 ounces of Putty she now wears to hide her skin....lol.

I'm building scratch intake ducts and it has taken a while to sort the method out, but I'll post the construction as i struggle along.

Ah yes -- been mega-busy here with a housemove and all such that goes with it. I get the image ready the other day then got side tracked. The images in the "Honour Wall" section on all my GBs are 200 pixels high, that's just the standard I work with. I could go larger in future, it's justa  question of the format of the page.

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Thanks Thunderbolt! and don't forget to upate P1. Say that reminds me, why are the images so small on P1? Seems like we would want better images of the completed models. Just my 2 cents :-)

Cbaltrin -- that is an extremely precise job, well done! I don't think I've ever seen feathered camo better, even at 1:48, so all kudos there! I'll update p1 today!

68GT -- fantastic job! Pity about that palstic shaving but my vote would be to ignore it, the rest of the plane is too good to mess with! If she's done, I'll update p1 -- yes?

I hit the metal with some flat and removed the masking from the canopies and found a surprise.  I used the Dremel to cut a hole here the cans attach so I could stick a wire in there to hold the model when painting.  Some of the cut out plastic found its way up under the front windshield.  Been trying to know it out but it will not move and I really don't want to remove the canopy.

Thanks,

Maybe I'll let it sit a bit and figure what to do with it.  In the mean time I'm going to get back to work on the RF-4C that I started.

68GT -- Fantastic! I wouldn't bother with reducing the gloss, this is a commemorative/display aircraft and they would be finished in high gloss. If anything, overcoat the decals with the best glosscoat you can, and call her good!

Guys, it's great to see the work going on! cbaltrin, that's a beauty!!! I wish i could do one that good -- ah well, practice, practice!

I think I'll leave the 2012 build open-ended for finishing of existing projects, and we'll kick off Rhinos IV in 2014 -- how does that sound? We've all had way too much real life going on, so we need some elbow room, and this is a no-pressure way to both keep some Rhinos in the loop and ramp down the committments so we can breathe easy and have some fun.

Cheers, longing to get back to the bench,

Mike/TB379

Hey  68 GT, that Japanese F-4 is coming along. That's not a scheme I knew of, but I like it.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

HI MIke, Everybody.

I regret not being able to participate more than I did, but personal matters came up, and I barely had time to keep up with participating in multiple group builds. I dedicated most of my time over at the Berny build and even then was absent for many months there.

The RF-4B is far from finished:

I doubt I would finish anytime soon.

It would be odd to not have any new Rhino builds going in 2013, so I'm not sure how to vote. I guess if there may not be a 2013, I will work my Phantom into the next Berny build if there is one, as maybe I'll finish the A-7 in time to close that one out.

*******

On my workbench now:

It's all about classic cars now!

Why can't I find the "Any" key on my keyboard?

I'll have to give the paper a try.  I have a Testors F-4G in 1/72 that I've been working on and off with for the last couple of years and just don't like how the camo has come out with just the tak.  It just looks out of scale or something.
