Seeing as the world didn't come to an end and this GB will deffinatly be running into 2013, i can now get on with my entry for this GB knowing it can be finished. I made a bit of a start on the pit a couple of days ago, but nothing worth any pics yet. Will hopefully have enough in a couple of days.

Despite the failed end of the world, I've gotten some of the decals onto this Frogfoot.  Since it is a trainer, I've decided to put as many factory stencils on it as I can find as I assume the ground crews would be trainees as well.   I still need to decal the underwing pylons, the various wheel doors and some other things and then it's more weathering.

getting close to finished on this one!

The exhaust simply consisted of a tube filled in at one end. I cut the end off and will replace with a spare exhaust from a 1/48 F-16CJ. Even though the Skyhawk is 1/32 it's a perfect match for the size.

Also got the fuselage glued together. On an old kit like this this can be tricky getting it to properly to match up then I've thrown in a resin cockpit to make things even trickier. Fingers crossed.....

Ok, got this from Santa. Well I knew a few days ago, picked it at my LHS. It was consignment stock from someone wanting to offload old kits. Can't believe it was $18! Despite the kits age (1988) and the fact it has raised panel lines, the detail, is superb!

I want to enter the GRAM version into this GB.

Cheers

I have now made a start on the Academy Ju 87G-1.

I am addiong an Aires resin set which comprises cockpit, engine and guns. Also the Quickboost  undercarrage and props. The cockpit is now complete and ready to fit (the fun part). I really hate these close up pics and they show every spec of paint. It looks like the grand canyon. But it really isn't that bad. And i should have taken these before i fitted the sides, so sorry for the lack of clarity.

The wings have also been fitted together and i have cut out the pilots target viewing window. I will be fitting some sheet styrene into this.

Thanks for looking.

Hey fellas, glad to see all is going well! I'd just like to take a minute to apologize for not being able to be a bigger part of something I started. I've had alot on my plate and haven't spent much time at the bench at all:( I'd like to thank you guys for keeping this going as well! Alot of really awesome builds here. They Frogfoot is amazing! I give alot of props (pun intended lol) to you guys who can build the modern birds, I still haven't acquired a big taste for them, or the skills/patience to do them. A belated Merry Christmas to you all, and happy building!

Bish, I'm curious to see how that Stuka builds up. Academy can be hit and miss from what I gather. I bought my cousin his first model for Christmas, the trusty old revellogram Stuka in 1/48. Once it's done I'd like to post some pics on here so he can get some feedback. Shouldn't be too long before it's done.

Alrighty, I'll check back whenever I can! I worked with academy's 1/35 tiger 1 with a full interior, all the fits were good, but it still had "wrong fits" too. The parts were correct, they just had them in the wrong places.

Been able to get quite a bit done over the last few days, so time for another update.

managed to get the cockpit in after about 3 hours of careful sanding. I do like these resin pits, but they can be a real pain to fit.

Also cut the rudder so i could angle it to one side.

I then got all the major parts fitted, including the resin spats and engine bulkhead.

Next up is to assemble the cannons, a bit more sanding and add all the littel bits. It will then be ready for some paint.

So far i have had no problem with fit. The wings haven't need any filler. I have used white filler, and you can see how little there is.

Looks nice! Would be kinda cool to build one and leave it more or less like this, make it look like eno-of-the-war bone yard plane.

O no, i couldn't do that, would break my heart lol. same as i couldn't do those wreck armour builds.

Just been working on the cannon and to my delight it has the whole of the gun body, not just the houseing. And it allows you to have the access panels open. So that will add a bit more interst to the whole scene. I should be able to start on the ground equipment this week.

Looking forward to it! The guns were all extremely well detailed that came with my academy kit (3 MG34s, 2 MP40s, and the tigers 88) as well. Their parts all have great and crisp detail, they just don't line up well lol

Ye, this kit is well detailed. The guns are from the aires resin set, so have that little bit extra. The engine and engine covers are pretty nice as well. I am looking forward to seeing how it comes out.

Got the A4 sewn up and the wings on. Also some preliminary work on puttying and sanding though not too much of that thankfully!

Next masking off the wheel bays and priming before the dreaded gloss off white underneath!

Cheers

All the decals are on this thing and hopefully all the major painting and shading is finished.  I need to do a little more detail painting and weathering before a final flat coating.

I've gone in and delicately sanded almost all the decals with 2000 grit paper to better blend them with the worn and weary paint....  some decals worked out better than others but overall they look much better than fresh.   There's somewhere around 200 decals on this aircraft and its weapons....

all that's left is ....   details, details details.Stick out tongue

Bish - The Stuka looks good. The Aires cockpit set has really added to it. I agree on the close ups, they can make good work look crummy just by highlighting every speck, and some that aren't there, I think.

Dre - I really like the scheme and quality of work on your Frogfoot.

Casper - If I have to spray gloss white, as I often do for my racing car models, I always undercoat with Tamiya fine white primer in the rattle can. Then you can go with a relatively thin coat of gloss white. I guess you'll have your own method that works for you.

Cheers

Tony

I'm getting closer to finished on this, although there is still a lot of simple detail stuff to do around the canopy seals and whatnot...
