I dug out the ICM BM-24-12 kit build and was trying to remember why the build had stalled ?

After a few minutes I suddenly recall the shells being to big in diameter to fit inside the launch rails and they will need quite a bit of sanding down to fit !

No such problem with the BM-13-16 vehicles as the rockets fit under and on top of a single launch rails .

I better break out the 400g wet and dry and start sanding those 240mm shells .

If cross entries are okay, I was seriously planning either a DML US Gun Carriage (a half track stupidly toting a canon that illustrated why the US needed the Priest)  or a Tamiya Wespe for the 1943 GB. Either would  qualify here I'd think.

Hi all -- who wants to go for HGWT III? Two votes for yes so far! Right now it's a muddle of projects on my bench and I'm trying to sort out what's highest priority. If you're happy to go with a third round I'll set it up and we can keep plugging!

All - apologies for my lack of involvement in the GB last few months. Had a bad streak of work drama and health issues that kept me away from the bench for awhile. I will not be able to build anything before the end of the GB but will me more than happy to roll over my builds onto HGWT III. I did not start any of the builds, just washed the sprues and did some research, thats about it.

Soviet ASU-57 SPG (open top): Maquette 1:35 with Eduard PE set  

Soviet ASU-85 SPG (closed): Trumpeter 1:35 with Voyager PE set

Hi Wayne, not much, the year has wound up with far less across the bench than many of us would have hoped... I'm entirely cool with leaving the build open so any who want to finish projects under the HGWT II banner are more than welcome. Did we discuss a HGWT III? Or is it easier to just leave -II open to run? I never got back to my AS-90, though would love to... (Spent a few weeks in the UK, then the last three in a backbreaking house-move, my bench is hardly set up for work yet!)

I finished my build of the M109A6....model was washed in oils, tried a lil MIG pigments, and added a touch of color w/ select stowage!  Here's my build:

The coolers ..and ice cubes ..are from the DEF Models set, and really think it adds much needed color to the model ! the other gear are from a Legends M1 stowage set...

My favorite part of the build was correcting the fume extractor ..welds are stretched sprue, a technique I learned from finescale mag! The fat ring was fabricated from the kit extractor, and sanded to contour. The smaller ring was scrap PE strip.  

Hope everyone enjoys the pics..I'm actually using this kit for a local contest this weekend!

TB379 - FYI I sent you a PM

JMart -- typically, white highlights are applied for vehicles on parade or display, not service -- they disappear quick when the vehicle is deployed once more. On "Russian Armour Green" -- it's an ongoing debate but I read on a forum that there were several shades used interchangeably, units would repaint with whichever shade was available when it was needed. In Western terms, one of those shades has been measured at FS 34098, and since FS 34097 is a standard shade, that's good enough for me (or is it the other way round? Whichever...) This applies to mid-late Cold War colours, not sure if WWII would be properly catered to by that choice.

Castlenuovo – nicely done and congrats on the finish!

The ASU-57 is quite the small vehicle, smaller than the Panther I am doing for the Steel Cats GB.

Here is the kit box:

Instructions call for “Khaki green” and posted builds use “soviet armor green”. I have to translate that into my Model Master enamels paints. I also have to find the proper interior colors.

The kit has the white number decals, was not sure about the other parts painted white in this museum piece:

But then i found this pic:

why would you "highlight" your airborne assault vehicle with those white highlights? I truly do not know, not being cynical or anything.

I was lucky enough to pick it up at a swap meet today, It's not in collectible condition, so I have no qualms about building it. At least I get to keep to my chosen scale and still join in.
