That's deep man! Cool

Didn't have much of a chance to do anything model-related this weekend. Well, I did have some time, but was too tired to trust myself to not screw something up. Nothin ~repeat, nothing!~ planned tonight, sounds like bench time tonight.

Dang it! Why does the Viggen have to look so AWESOME in every conceivable paint scheme???

When I finally find a kit for one, this is going to be a really tough choice....

While they weren't black, I think you may have just found the basis for Hasegawa's paint schemes for their 25th anniversary Macross Valkyries.

This is in my rotation of "desktop images" on the office computer, really find the lines of the 2-seater interesting for some reason.

Alright, my Heller Viggen in 1/72 will be my "official" contribution here, but I already have something on the go, may as well show it! Embarrassed This is my "office kit"; I try to keep something at the office for working on at lunch or when I just need to get away from the computer screen for a moment. I can pick away at basic cleanup & construction, but stay away from painting.

Italeri's Saab JAS39 Gripen, yes, picked it up for $7!:

Good detail & depth to the parts, surprising amount of ordnance on this little machine...

Good clear parts...

And because I hadn't been planning on GB-ing this one, apparently I was slack in taking pictures. Spent last night's bench time puttying & sanding. The join between the leading edge of the wingroot & fuselage needed some work, a little around the nosecone joint but not bad. But the worst (what were they thinking!?!?!)... there is  a massive gap part way up the rudder/tail unit. All kinds of putty needed, and I'm probably not done with it yet!

Didn't get a good pic of the cockpit - looks pretty good right oob, painted up & dropped in. Ejection seat looks good too, but not glued in yet. (Very Roomy cockpit!)

With the forward canards in place. I think I should have deflected them a little bit more - but I wasn't sure (when I glued them) how much deflection happens when they are on the ground...

Interesting little machine. It comes with two red-numbered versions + a low-visibility gray scheme...

Gee Vance that Gripen looks so cool! I want the 1/48th kit but don't really need to add anything to the stash right now* Still looks like a really detailed kit in 1/72nd.

* Yes, I did go out and add a 1/35th Ka-Mi and Panzer IV to my stash, but they're the last two kits I'm buying- and I mean it this time........

It is a great little kit right out of the box. Exterior lumps/bumps/indentations are comprehensive. I'm no expert, but the cockpit looks a little generic & there is probably AM to remedy that, but it looks good. You may not neeed to, but it'll be a small kit, even in 1/48....

"Hello. My name is Cliff, and I have a problem..." Big Smile

I really can't say anything.... I had a new years resolution to only build out of my stash starting in 2011. Had. Then the LHS slashed prices ahead of their closing down. Then I stumbled on a batch of "estate kits" at a 2nd hand shop with prices I couldn't pass up. Embarrassed

Vance, the Liore 45 is all kinds of cool. That's another reason my stash is out of control is that I'm getting more and more into more esoteric subjects like that over more mainstream kits like another P-51 or Bf-109.

Yes, I'm finding the same thing. As much as I love my "standard Luftwaffe" stuff, I'm finding these older Heller kits have a lot of really interesting stuff. I walked out of that shop with 4 French twin-engined machines, including the Liore. Something about the crazy layout of the tail. Apparently I'm a tail man...

I was doing some reading last night, and now I have an urge to track down....
