Ok. Now I need to find a way to upload all those pics...
Clemens, there is far more traffic in the armor forum. Post in both.
Eric
IBuild-progressing nicely...I especially like the base....looking forward to seeing more progress pics.
Bob
IBuild148: The base looks great and the Tiger itself is coming along nicely as well!
Eric: That's what I planned to do. I just ran into two questions: Should I post them in the "armor" or "reference" forum? Where can I upload a 4.5 GB file? That file would be the folder with all the pics (1365)...
Clemens, you should start a separate thread with all the pictures in the armor forum.
Dan, magnificant.
Ibuild48, I'm liking that base. Cool job on it so far.
Excellant T1 Dan.
As a student of armor I often have questions.
May I ask what the purpose of the netting on the barrel is for? I'm assuming camo? What did you make it out of?

Well this is going down to the wire. I have one track run done and hope I will have second done by Tuesday.
In the meantime I can decal, weather and light chip.
Dan-it just keeps getting better!
Dan: Very convincing look to the dust and dirt!

Hey guys!
I just came back from a 4-day trip to the tank museum in Munster! I have loads of pics of many WW2 Vehicles if anyone is interested! I'll post some of them (and a link to dropbox for the complete folder) in the next 2 weeks!
I can tell you one thing: Those tanks are very impressive when you actually stand next to them! I thought of them being a lot smaller than they actually were. Especially the Panther, Tiger and King Tiger are very intimidating...
Here's a list of the tanks (and guns) I have pics of (many detail pics as well):
I actually climbed on top of the tanks to get some good pics of the upper surfaces. I did'nt manage to climb the Tiger 2, Panther and Jagdpanther though, because they are so huge and have almost nothing to get a grip on, so there was no way of getting up there without the guys working at the museum (tour guides,...) noticing it...
If you want any pics right now, just let me know and I'll try to get them named and uploaded ASAP!
Now it's time to work on my kitten!
Cheers, Clemens
A86, that keeps getting better and better! I love the weathering!!!
After finishing with AK 022 - Africa Dust Effects - an enamel color - went back over to feather it some with white spirits. Move on to MIG - ModelMakerz - AK pigments. Started first AK Pigment Dark Steel (AK-086) and went over areas to show some wear on common tracked areas, the track, road wheels etc. Then using a mix of Desert Sand and Gulf War Sand and water applied around track and road wheels. Once dried used a brush and removed until I liked the effect. Photos included. Armor86
Dan
Yeah Dan, she keeps looking better and better!
Dan-it keeps getting better.....outstanding weathering.
Thank you A86. Your Tiger is looking pretty dang good as well! I love the dusty effect that you are getting in your weathering.
Great finish Stik - I'm right behind - finished first phase of applying the Africa dust effects using AK-022 - photos enclosed. Armor86
Thank you Gamera! I am glad to hear that you like it ;-)
SP: Fantastic work!!! I love the Tiger, the figures, the base, the prickly pears- I love the whole thing!!!
BRAVO SIR!!!
Clemons: I've used some of the AK Interactive Chipping Fluid and had good luck with it, I've also had good luck with regular old hair spray. I can't really tell the difference and one of the big guys with the technique has said the special chipping fluid is just really expensive hair spray in a bottle and to save your money.
I have some kind of a problem:
I just placed an order at Hannants including a set of PE fenders (Eduard) for my King Tiger. I wanted to build it OOB, but I just can't get along with the supplied fenders. I want to build my kitten with damaged/missing fenders, so I basically have to use PE parts. I just hope they arrive in time (only 3 weeks left...). I can build and apply them after the model is finished, but I won't call it finished untill they are in place.
I added Stik's and Shawker's pictures to the Wall of Fame.
tigerman Stik, I'd have to say that is your best work to date. Of course, Just MHO. I like the dusty/wet look. Just an overall winner.

Eric, thank you very much for your kind words. But if you happen to be going to Nationals and see the caliber of the GB work that our Chapter is sending there, I had a very high bar to aspire to reach. No to mention, mine (I feel) is middle of the road for that group entry. I had to push beyond my comfort zone here and I think that helped.
Jack: I don't know what the chipping medium does exactly. I knoe the guy on the website I found this technique was using a vallejo product, so I thought it was the chipping medium... I'll just ask the guys at my LHS when I get me the paints I need for the Tiger...
Thank you Jack.
SchattenSpartan Would this technique work? I read about it somewhere, but with different products: Paint th model with Gunze acrylic paint Some basic weathering Seal everything with Alclad gloss coat Apply Vallejo Air white Remove some of the white paint using Vallejo chipping medium More weathering Blend everything together using a white enamel wash (MIG) Alclad flat coat
Would this technique work? I read about it somewhere, but with different products:
Isn't the chipping medium just like the hairspray technique?
The product is sandwiched in between the gloss coat and white paint, it's purpose being to facilitate the removal of white? I've never used that product, but have tried the hairspray method, so I'd be curious to know for certain.
regards,
Jack
Stik - woohoo! ... man that looks great!
From the weathering, the figures and to the ground work - it all ties in together very well.
Schatten, most of those products that you mention are ones that I do not use so I can not comment one way or another. But that sounds like a process that will work.
Mike, thank you for your kind words.
Stik -- inspirational work! You've stuck at it for a long time and done some very fine and unusual work -- bravo all the way!
I swear I'll finish my KT -- the missing bits turned up, now I have to reorient to the build and get to it. I have two other jobs going back to back which should be off the bench this coming week and the KT is back on!
