tigerman, i think you did great on the jag man...  i really like the deep tones in the scheme, my over weathering tends to flush everything out...  and who cares about the numbers if we didnt make mistakes we couldnt imp[rove right?

 well just spent the last two weeks trying to do my zimm freehand...  and all turned out like crap... first tried squadron putty with the tamiya scrapers, and no dice...  big mess...  then tried milliput with the tamiya scrapers, no mess but just didnt look right...  then tried milliput with a piece of evergreen plastic, attepting to replicate how it was originally done, and no dice again...  unless i can find a pic of a tiger that has zimm applied by a three year old im done with the freehand approach.  so i'm in a holding pattern until my tamiya zimm panel kit arrives...

Thanks malone. The kit didn't come with good ones and I used some spares. I'm technically one digit off. LOL

I hope to get some of the zimmerit on this weekend. Need to get my rear into gear.

Hey Eric -  the Jagdpanther looks really good. The paint scheme is great and so is the subtle weathering. The only thing that catches my eye as being a little "off" would be the tow cables. They look a little gravity defying.  

Jack - The base looks pretty cool. I agree, the nameplate is sweet. Nothing like putting your Tiggy up on a pedestal, eh? lol

Thanks for the comments, fellas. Sorry it's been a couple weeks... but now that the weather is improving drastically, outside duties and activities abound. Next, I'll be crying for some rain on a weekend, just to get bench time... well, maybe not. It is getting harder to find time though. 

Well, as promised - some paint. Was able to find some time today to get some Tamiya Hull Red down as a primer coat.

I'm really hoping to get the Dunkel Gelb base coat on tomorrow...

Dave, the cat is looking good in the primer. You are right, i never did glue down the cables, because I wasn't sure I was going to like them.

Again, sorry for not staying current and if I missed anyone.  The road wheels for the Panther are painted and ready to be installed-just lacking motivation at the moment.  Hopefully that will change soon.

Malone I know my zimm could look better but try wood filler from Elmers it attaches well and you need to let it dry a little I forgot that part so mine is not the best job i have done.  That is why I look for units and time frames when they did not use zimm.  I personally hate the stuff and think it makes the Cats look sloppy.  I love the look of a pure Tiger, KT, Panther, JagP, etc... I always think of Porsche engineering when I see them even though Porsche only built some, and Herschels look great too, As car lovers love the lines on a car I love the lines on the Panzers, and even the Shermans, sorry to Russian tank lovers but I simply do not like em.

Um guys, if I may toss an unrelated question in here since I'm certain several people will know: I'm assuming all of these vehicles would have zimmerit despite the cover painting and the instructions not showing any?

Gamera, I believe all the Early's has zimmeritl, for it appears that production started in early 1944 when zimmerit was still being applied.

Dan-very good job on the tools....close-ups are showing some great detailing that would normally go unnoticed.

I agree with Bob, Dan. You have put in a lot of extra work on your Tiger and it's paid off.

No answer on the exact number per side from but who can count them anyway right ? Not me anyway .

IMO when the sag looks right then that is the correct number of links .

I have the base color on. I haven't decided yet on how to proceed. I think I'm still leaning toward a Warsaw Wiking vehicle. 7th company perhaps? (723?)  I'll be trying to figure out what I'm gonna do this week. Wheels have the main bit of painting done as well. The over-spray will be corrected either with tire color (dark rubber), or a worn, shiny steel look where appropriate. Of course after I was finished cleaning up the AB I noticed I had neglected to paint the drive sprockets and idler wheels. DOH!

Anyway - where it stands now: barely recognizable as the Italeri kit I started with... It's more of an Italeragon... or Drageri.
