alex, no rules other than that you have to build an abrams, any version you want. as the start date is a week and a half away, it is etched in stone. the end date ca be adjusted alittle if need be. We'll have late finishers either way........ Wink [;)]

Wow, martian, nato white will look so cool. I've never attempted to paint any armour in white. you'll definitely have to keep up the posts while you're building and prepping this one :)

Zokissima thanks for the vote of confidence.I hope it will be cool. i have been practicing weathering techniques and preshading techniques with my Hummer and Bradley so i should get this paint right the first time. Question is should I use light blue UN letters or the generic black stencil-type that they normally use? Confused [%-)]

I plan to order the stencil type letters from greatmodels.com today for other UN projects i'm working on. I already have some blue letters and the UN flags which I won from e-bay.

I'd say go for the light blue. It'll just look so damn wicked.
I've never really tried preshading except on a few missles I built. Let me know how that goes

Well since it is a "What if" tank i will go with the blue letters to distinguish it from my more "realistic" UN vehicles i'm building. I'm still perfecting the pre-shadowing. It's tricky. you have to use light coat's of the base coat over it. I'm still rust with it but i'm getting better at it. Good thing is though if you screw up by over painting the preshade you can still just weather it as normal. You don't loose anything so it's worth the risk. I just think of it as "primering".

haha, so true. The few times I tried it, the results were 'eh'. I ended up washing and drybrushing afterwards anyways, so the overall effect was pretty nice, at least to me, as it tended to really bring out the panel lines, and blend the shading into the body

i can hardly wait 2 see these builds... NATO white w/ blue, urban nocturnal...
since i already did my winter camo abrams, i'm probably going 2 go with the NATO
3-color scheme.
my challenges 4 this build will b: going 2 use p/e for the first time, and planning 2 use an airbrush 2 paint the camo, also 4 the first time !

question 4 everyone
will i need a Hold and Fold 2 do a good job on the p/e ?
if so, where can i find one, & how much will it cost ?
i mainly do small scale, so the small Hold & Fold would do fine i guess.
the p/e set is the eduard one 4 the revell kit in 1/72.

Yep, my DML figs just came last week and my tank came with two tankers. Blue helmets shall be provided. i'm also building a recon dirt bike too. But it will be with my UN Bradley. Gota pic of that winter camo Abrams? I found a winter camo Abrams made by Hot Wheels at a resale store a few months back. i gave it to my Dad for HIS tank collection.

BTW, altho' the camo mite look like black & white, it's actually grey, green & white...
it shows more clearly if u print the pic.
there's another pic of a winter camo abrams in 1/35 on the same page.

Ok, I'm stupid. maybe I'm just not looking at the right place, but for the life of me, I can't fine the Scale Modeling Gallery. I've found the photo albums, and in there, there are only three categories in there.
I'm lost :(

well, I went to te LHS today. picked up hasegawas m1 and m1e1, if I have time after I do my 1/35 DML and finishing my 1/72 revell. I'll probably do one of those. also picked up some figs for the DML: Verlindens US tank/APC crew. never worked with resin before so this will be a bit of a learning experience.

I just finished the base coat of sand on a 1/48 scale M1A1 that I bought for practicing purposes. i like 1/48. Just not much out there. This one is by Zhendufu [sp?]/Kitech. The quality is kinda iffy but they turn out pretty good when done. I have built bothe a Challenger and a Merkava in 1/48 as well. Wanna get a bradley next.

I'm building Hasagawa A-6 Inturder. I want to drop the flaps but seem kinda hard. i've got some etch parts for the M1 i brought while I was over seas and tracks too.

Yeah definitely has Dwight. One more week till official start date. Can't wait. I have some loose ends to tie up this week, so I can't wait to start this one with a clean palette. There is a convention I'll be attending (hopefully) this weekend with about 50 vendor tables, so maybe I'll get lucky and find something nice this weekend, maybe another M1 Abrams of some sort :)

I am so tempted to do one of my hasegawa m1s as a braek from all these ac. I did airfix 1/72 mig15, a tamiya v1, and am in the middle of their clear me 262, and am also doing a revell 1/72 fokker d vii. I need to do some armor!!!!!
