Here is the official Niel Armstrong memoriam GB. Basically the rules are any figure of him, LEM, Apollo CSM, Gemeni, Saturn V (as long as they are marked for Apollo 11 or a mission Armstrong flew) will qualify.

Here is the roster:

Corvettemike: Revell LEM First Moon Landing

Helo H34: X-15

Subrevolution: ???

Taxtp: X-15(?)

GAF: Gemeni 8 capsule

Old Ordie: ???

Kenjitak: NF-104A

GMorrison: 1/72 Hobby Boss Panther

Winetanker: DML LEM??

The start date is 7-20-2013 and the build will run for one year terminating 7-20-2014.

Here is the badge, feel free to grab it whenever you wish.

Sure, an F9F-2 would do the trick. Revell and Hobby Boss make a couple of nice ones.

I cut this picture from Monday's Daily Telegraph newspaper  here in Sydney

I have a couple of those 1/72 Monogram X-15 kits in the stash , I could build one to match the picture above

I very much like the idea. I will certainly follow along, and if you need an extra person (and the timeline is long enough. July 20, maybe?) then I'm sure I can come up with something.

I would like to commemorate the magnificent achievements of this man. If John doesn't mind, I'd also like to build an X-15, if I can get one of course.

Regards

Tony

I can give you a definite "Maybe".  Armstrong was commander on Gemini 8.

I have an old Revell 1/24 scale Gemini capsule that needs to be "restored" (stripping the old paint from the parts, redoing it with some extras) if that is acceptable.  It will give me a good excuse to pull it out of the box and finally re-do it.

This shows Armstrong with a capsule about the same size as the one I have.

Gary

P.S.>  Just as a note, the name is spelled "Neil".

Just a question:  The start date of 7/20/13 is almost 11 months from now.  I'm not sure if I can even remember that long!  Are you sure that's when you wish to start?

It seems good with everyone and gives people plenty of time to get their kits together, join, finish other GB's etc.. I'll keep bumping the topic every so often to keep it fresh. You could also put a sign near your build labled "Armstrong GB 7/20/13" to help :)

I found out that Armstrong flew the NF-104A, the 104 with the rocket engine and reaction control system. Made famous in The Right Stuff when Yeager crashed it. I've had the parts in my stash for quite awhile and this is a great incentive to get going on it. So please put me down for a 1/48 Hasegawa F-104G with the Cutting Edge bits to build a NF-104A.

I'll still build the X-15 along side Tony , However I spied this kit last week and bought her and she just arrived at the front door

Monogram 1/72 B-52B with X-15 ...

I'll attach my X-15 under the wing on the B-52 , should look good .

I took the soft option John, no B-52. Yours will look far more interesting though.
