OK, that's weird. My copy and paste from photobucket created a link rather than an actual pic. Let's try this again shall we.
I reckon that kit dates from around the same time as mine. Are you adding any extras or just building as is.
Bish, I'm going to build it pretty much as is. That is unless I get the gumption to scratch build up at least a cockpit tub. Otherwise it will be a vast emptiness in there.
Thats a cool lookin ship Brent! I havent built a ship since I was in the teens. I've got my hands full with aircraft so I aint gonna dabble in ships. Talk about intracate detail sensory overload for me!!! Nice job again, Joe

Hi everyone,
The P-38 is just about ready for the paint shop. After i get the canopy on it and a couple of other things, it will go in.

Looking good there Greentracker. I do hope the cig is for scale and that you don't light up in the paint room.
LOL Joe, Glad you reminded me
The cig is for scale; thats my story and I'm sticking to it. LOL
Hey sub revolution, I found a color chart for the bird. Sent message.
Mike
Does anyone else remember the all in one kits of the p-38? Cant remember if it was revell or not. But it came with 4 or 5 pots of paint, a brush and a thing of glue. I must have built 3 or 4 of those.

Scorpio, i dn't recall the kit in question, but i know Airfix does these and i think i remember Revell doing them as well.
I had some trouble getting things to line up on the P-38. Is this normal?
Just wondering. But I'll get it. I did some more work on it last night with putty and finger nail polish remover and corrected some of the seam problems.
Wow Handi, I too wish I could compare mine to the one I built many many many years ago. Looking good, and If I didnt say it before, thanks for the pics. Their proving really useful. I wish I would have had the pics when I was growing up, then I didn't know about the mistakes the model companies made on the kits.
Hey greentracker. I built this kit when I was younger and it seems like looking back it did have a few seam problems, but hey even the best kits have their fit issues sometimes and if its not fit problems its something else like ejector pin marks or something. Thats model building for you though. Good job and good progress!
greentracker98 The cig is for scale; thats my story and I'm sticking to it. LOL
Glad you clarified that because if you were actually using the P-38 to show the scale of your cigarettes I'd have to ask: Good Gawd! How long does it take you smoke one them big suckers?
Joe Yea that would take awhile. iIf they had these ciggerettes then they wouldn't have have won the war. They wouldn't have had time to fight the Germans. LOL
Mustang: Thanks for the encouraging words. I got a ways to go on it as its a work in progress.
I have been doing some preliminary sanding on the Draken, of which there is a lot of, and quickly made an interesting discovery. That Revell in the 70's did not mold there kits out of styrene but rather out of what I can best describe is Bakelite. My Gawd, this is the hardest stuff imaginable. I could us the fuselage halves as ashtrays with no damage to them. Ok, I may be overdramatizing this a bit yet the fact remains that this is indeed the hardest stuff I recall ever working with. Oh well, nothing an 80 grit sanding stick can't overcome. That is all. carry on.
Here's some test fit pics of the ole Draken in test fit form. I already removed a good bit of the flash and applied some sanding but much is left to do. You'll notice the cockpit (or the complete lack thereof) and it's vast emptiness. Haven't fuuly decided how I'm going to handle that just yet.
I seem to recall kits in the sort of plastic you mention. That cockpit is going to be tricky, even with the canopy open, you can see a good deal inside.
I'm back and I finally got my new bench built. Good to see I still have til June since I wanna wrap up my M1A1 which is about 45% complete before I whip this one out.

Good to hear Mike. You reminded me that I need to pay some attention to mine. Any chance we might get some pics of the new bench?
This is how it is so far, still moving some things around for ease of access/comfort purposes. The white fan is actually a space heater and does a darn nice job given it's small size.
Nice new office you have there Mike. Thanks for sharing that. I like to see other modelers workspaces. All you need now is abundant clutter to give it that "lived in" look.
Not gonna happen lol. I make a point to clean at the end of every session, my bench is never a mess :D
Indeed Mike. I too try to keep my bench organized and neat. Yet, inevitably I will have to stop everything and give the bench a healthy purging.
Nice looking bench Mike. No matter how hard i try and how often i tidy it up, usually at least twice during any build, it still looks a mess not long after.
CMike - That's great looking bench you got there. I live alone; in some ways its unfortunate, but in others ways it better. because I set my work bench up in my office. I have an L shaped desk with a really thick glass for the top. If I had a wife, I'm sure I'd be in the basement. I'll get a pic and post it for you all to see.
Just a little update, and a shameless bump. I haven't been working on the sabre the last couple of weeks as i was concentrating on getting my Stuka finished. But now thats all wrapped up i plan on getting the Alclad on hopefully tomorrow when i have a quiet day. I spent a whole evening cleaning the bench and tidying up around it. It amazing how much accumelates during a build.
