What I've done is snipped all the parts off the sprues for all of Aaron's WWI airplane kits and mixed them together in a single box.

Actually, there's no competition. We just wanted to build a couple of cool models and thought we'd offer to do it as a GB with interested members. However, we do want to keep this timeframe limited because Aaron and I have another group-build idea that we want to offer after this one; second, to keep people from overcommitting; and third, for us, managing one group build at a time is enough on top of all of our other responsibilities.

Hopefully, you can join us for the next GB we'll start probably in September. I don't want to give anything away as to its subject yet.

I'm way too over-committed to other GB's during that time frame, but I'd love to try a WWI aircraft if this were a longer GB.  

Maybe you two staffers can have the 4-month competition betwixt yourselves and we citizens a more leisurely time frame?

Right, so its the same as WW2 US aircraft having the letter of the factory that built it in the designation.

I know next to nothing about WW1 aircraft, so what is the differance between the two DVII's.

I'm not sure there are significant differences, but the the D.VII was designed and built by Fokker, but Fokker's factory couldn't keep up with the numbers ordered, so the plane was also built under license by Albatros and its subsidiary OAW.

But I'm looking at my stash and there's a Wingnut Wings S.E.5A in there calling to me, as it has been for about three years. I leave it up to the participants: Which one should I build?

They're both great kits Aaron. I've built their SE.5 and am currently working on one of their D.VII's. My question to you would be how comfortable are you with rigging? The D.VII ain't got much, but the SE.5 has got a ton of it.

OH, SURE! First, he raids my office for the Cylon Centurion from Moebius, then he changes his mind about the model he's building ... And now my 4-year-old son is in my home office with a bag over his head, informing me, "I am the Dark Power," in a high-pitched falsetto.

Fine, Aaron. If you want to change your model, I don't like it, but I'll go along with it.

Now, I must go throw Mr. "Dark Power" in the bath tub so he's clean for school.

You should run a story in the mag featuring the GB.  You're the editor so you will have to work on the title..,

Alright, I'm in - I'll just have to juggle around a few other GB's that have longer due dates.

Haven't picked the exact kit yet, but it will be an Eduard 1/48 Albatros in Austrian markings.

Also did a little badge work, mainly finding an appropriate font for the era.  Still can shift sizes/positions around and likely add some aircraft recognition insignia.  Is the Finescale logo required to be present?

As I am working on my 4th entry to Tigerman's "Steel cats" GB, I have been thinking of what will be next.  So before I considered myself officially in a rut ... I'm in for a WNW Albatros D.Va.

WW1 isn't normally my thing. But i got an 0/400 for my birthday. I am going to do it my my Gift GB, so if cross overs are ok, put me down. Its the Airfix 1/72nd kit.

Tim: I've got a couple of 1/48th biplanes around somewhere - a Sopwith Snipe and either a Nieuport or SPAD (I remember it's French!). I said I wouldn't be entering anymore GBs this year but I dunno, this could be a fun change of pace. Please put me down as a provisional, I'll see if I can hunt one of the kits up and make up my mind this weekend...
