Thanks, Schatten.  Someone more knowledgeable than I pointed out two things that need fixing.  So I'm going to do that, do the tracks, figure, put the hatches and MG on and that should be it.  Hopefully have it all done by tomorrow.

Here's me following Stik's orders cutting foil straps for stowage in the blazing sun:

You can't see my workbench because it's in the hole with me.  That's my wife in the background in the kitchen. Confused

Thank God, you're here. It looked like you went offline and I thought for a moment maybe you were coming to kill me.  Now I can disarm the booby traps. Smile

Cut the straps and glued one end on each.  Used J. Lohr 7 Oaks Cabernet 2011 for the foil.  Then the in-laws came back I guess that's all for building for a while. Crying

Aye.  Ninja vs Pirate.  Isn't that the classic internet battle question? Who will win? Wink

BTW, thank you, Gamera.  But I owe all that I'm doing with this build to the "ninja" to be honest.  I run almost everthing I'm doing or want to do by him before it shows up here.  He talks me out of stuff, into other stuff, makes me redo stuff, he's awesome!  He won't kill me.  I'm his favorite student. Well, maybe at least his most obedient and annoying.  Wink

thought that it is about time for an update on my build. Got the wings and fuselage together on my Pips FW-190

than seen the huge gap at the wing root

piece of styrene and looks like gap is fixed.Just touch up with a bit of sanding and should be good I hope. have to do the same fix for the other side

Hi Shiv.

I know I am going to have a similar fit problem with the wing on my Devastator.  Can you explain a bit how you go about shimming the wing?  I've never done anything like that before.

Rob. It is pretty easy I just took a piece of strip styrene of a width that matched the gap and cut it to the length I needed than glued it with Tamiya liguid cement. Once dried just sand it to smooth it out. I used a piece of .010" x .040" stirip styrene.

Nice work here guys. Good piece of work with the shim, Shiv.

Primed my Tiffie, really just a couple of panel lines to fix so not too bad.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Thanks Shiv.

I didn't know if it was just as simple as it looked.  I'll give it a try when the time comes.

Rob, I did the same thing with my build of that same TBD kit last year. But due to the angle of the wing join (not a straight edge) you have to use two.

Thanks for the heads up on that Stik.  I was planning to do a Coral Sea build and was just over admiring your work on this thread.  I've opted to stay with the doped aluminum for the interior colour though.  Hopefully I'll get some pictures posted on the near finished cockpit soon.  Do you recall the thickness of the styrene you used to shim the wings?

I spent two-hours painting the tires on the road wheels for the Stummel this morning.  The gun was finally installed, minus the sight.  Pics to follow tomorrow, after I get off work.
