What is worse? Not opening a kit for extended periods of time or opening them and leaving them unbuilt for extended periods of time? Hmmmm....

After all, it might be missing parts or something so I need to look inside to check even if I can't build it for months or years...

bitebite - I wasn't referring to the Sherman tank kit. I was referring to darson's Spitfire kit by Hasegawa. LOL! The kit is on order but I have been having some difficulties lookng for different images of Spits of the 412th Squadron with full D-Day Invasion stripes and decals these past 3 weeks or so. I only found one set of one particular pilot who crash landed due to engine troubles - not that particular pilot I want to do. :))
Oops! hehe Well, if you ever do get that one, make sure to check out that site! *slinks away*
I know you've all been worrying about the status of my kit, so I'll end the suspense . . . I've decided I will open and begin building my Sherman kit tomorrow. If I am not successful, let no man come back alive!
Which means I'm as good as dead.
Looks like I've finally found the Spitfire pilot I've decided to do. It will be an honor not for myself but to him (God rest his soul) to do Charley Fox's VZ-F (MK916) Spitfire of the 412th Sqn.
BB, good news. We can now all relax.
BlackSheep, glad to hear you have found some decals, and a great project.
I haven't found a decal set per say. I'll have to make do buying different decals sets for the VZ-F, serial number MK915, possibly the Canadian badge on the cowl, and the RAF circle markings. Perhaps there is a generic decal set of RAF lettering and circle markings?
I'll check out my LHS first because awhile back before I went on vacation, a gentleman stop by and wanted to unload a bunch of old kits and decals he had stored in his house for years. You should have seen them all! I'm, talking kits going back to the 60's and 70s and early 80s. Most were 1/72nd scale aircraft kits from Monogram, Revell and whatnot. There was a handful from Aurora as well.
I saw some kits I used to have when I first started doing models in my youth.
Hi BlackSheep, Charlie Fox's Spitfire is an excellent selection for this build as he was the pilot who carried out the strafing attack on Rommel that basically took him out of the war.

Thank you. When I read a little more about his encounter with Rommel, I thought to myself - this is it! This is the perfect Spitfire I've been looking for! :)

I went to Munster the last 4 days and visited the tank museum there! Those tanks are really intimidating when you actually stand in front of them... Most of them were much bigger than I thouhgt... I have plenty of pics (1500 at least), so just tell me if you are interested. I'll post a link to Dropbox with the full folder in the next 2 weeks, but I can upload some teasers this weekend if you want....

If you wonder how I got some of those Interior pics (on the Sturmtiger for example):
I actually climbed on most of the tanks to get some decent pics of the upper areas (turret roof,...) and some of them had open hatches... Keep in mind that some interior pics include the complete driver's compartment or the whole turret interior, while others are quite sparse (only small areas of the turret) The tanks with the best interior pics are the Wespe and the Hummel, as well as the Sturmtiger (it was kinda difficult to get on top of that one, because of it's massive heigth...)
