Ok gents!

I got a bit of work done on the M16 today and I thought I might show you some WIP pics. It's not much, but believe me: The mold lines on the "frame" everything sits on top of were a royal pain to remove.

I still have to add 2 more parts to the engine. They are already cleaned up, but I want to add them after painting. Do you guys have any pics of the engine/transmission/drive shaft of that vehicle? A pic of the bottom of the halftrack would be a great help as well...

Cheers, Clemens

With the Mobelwagen, you could do the actual vehicle that was built, which was just dark Yellow with no camo, or you could do a what if scheme and make up you own.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I've got a bit of a mission going with these now. I want to keep it visually interesting with varying camouflage and even different pioneer tool configurations, so it doesn't seem like they all came from the same kit. I might add some more stowage as we go too.

Cheers

Shiv: Great work on the Momsen! She's looking very good! The SA-2 is coming along nicely as well!

Greg: The Bloodhound looks really good! Nice work!

Tony: I love the look of your AA tanks! The camo on the Wirbelwind looks ace and the Kugelblitz is a beauty as well! Nice progress on the Möbelwagen (I love my german keyboard for enabling me to spell that right!) too!

I'll start work on the M16 tomorrow!

The dio has to wait untill I decide on a few things (how many figures if any, winter/summer, 251 D or C) I'm currently leaning towards 5 figures (1 driver, 4 crew members for the gun) all sitting in the haltrack (maybe one of them standing at the back) in a winter scene on a dirtroad (more like a mudroad....) with panzer gray vehicles that are whitewashed. I still have to get the figures though. Any tips?

Tony, very nice builds. Love the toned down camo on the Wirbelwind.

i agree bioth look nice and the one does look cylon evil. think i need a break so looking at a quick, for me, qn italeri 1/35 towed 37mm FLAK 43. probably do a small base as the one for the sIG 33 150mm field gun turned out so well. deferred buying the sp 88mm until i dump some stash and get somewhatt caught up. plus i have plenty of FLAK and SAMs.

Tony!  What great builds!  I think both are awesome, but I really like your Wirlbelwind!  The camo rocks!

Send me the pics you'd like to have posted as finished builds and I'll get them up for you.

Bish - Really cranked to see that BIG 88mm come together!

Tony - Truly beauteous brace of Flakpanzers you've got there. I never noticed it before, but the Kugelblitz looks particularly sinister. Sort of a "Cylon" look about it. Well done on both!

Tony, two great looking builds there. Thanks for those. As for the Mobelwagen, I have 5 pics, but they are also all from the front. But this vehicle was built in 1943, before the change in exhaust type, so it should have the same as the Wirbelwind.

Mobelwagen, Tony's backyard, 2013

You can see the plastic hull with the metal weights, rather than the earlier cast hulls from Tamiya. Also, had to do the usual thing under the fenders to hide the gaps. They give you the later exhaust in this kit, but I've seen photos with both styles of exhaust.

I've been trying to work out which exhaust the 4 gun Mobelwagen had. Of the 6 photos I've seen of it, they've all been taken rfom the front or front quarter, so I can't tell.

The tracks are also ready, assembled into  two sections per side. I just didn't fit them for the photo.

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Resin or plastic, they look like good quality items Shiv.

I'm calling my  'brace' of Flakpanzers complete. Hopefully I've managed some decent photography and you can see the color modulation and other goodies clearly enough. There is a small problem with the Kugleblitz, I was careless with the muzzle brakes and I have no idea where they are. I've ordered another of these conversion (quite cheap), so I will replace them when it arrives. I've also posted a couple of WIP photos of my first Mobelwagen

I've found that taking on a project like this suits me more than trying to complete a build in every GB, which I was doing. Thanks for the opportunity. You can also chalk me in for an Ostwind and Mobelwagen with 4 flak 38s.

Both machines have turned metal machine guns.

Cheers

yes Bish they are Hussar wheels but they are plastic and not resin. I thought they were resin aswell when I bought them.

They look pretty nice shiv. Are they by Hussar. From what I can see of that logo, it looks like the ones on a set of Hussar decals I used for my B-24. I didn't know they did resin stuff as well.

Some of you guys may remember i was asking about the new Merit 1/18th 88mm Flak 36 a few weeks back. Hannants have just got a few back in stock and I have taken the plunge and ordered one. So once it gets here, I plan on changing my build to that, I don't think I can manage two, and this 88 looks just to nice not to build in an AA GB.

Thanks, all, for the kind words.

I've got a 1/72 Viggen in the pile that's been calling out  to me, and since it's been about 20 years since I did one of these "crazy quilt" schemes, I figured this might be the perfect testbed to reacquaint myself with the technique. I confess it turned out rather better than I had expected.

Next up...Revell's old Nike Hercules, in rather more conventional dress.

Greg, now that's a sweet looking build. It looks great in that scheme with those markings.

I like it.

Shiv - Excellent work on the Momsen. The multi-tone grays really adds to the look.  Also that SA-2 looks seriously wicked.

Jibber - That SPG is looking great. Always loved the look of the Marders, in all their forms.

More or less done with my first entry, Airfix's 1/72 Bloodhound. No in-progress shots, since I'd lent my camera out for a stretch, but there wasn't anything particularly interesting or novel involved.

Sweden operated Bloodhound Mk. I's, the same model portrayed in the kit. Theirs were plain white as best I can tell, but I decided to go a little WHIFfy and try out something a little more stylin', namely the Viggen-type splinter camouflage.

Though I also built the trailer, and am nearly finished with the kit's little Land Rover (also destined for a splinter scheme), I decided I'd do a little vignette with just the missile, an airman security guard (scratchbuilt rifle added), and his faithful guard dog Sven. I made a little concrete pad, and I'll mount the whole thing on a peanut butter jar lid base as soon as the PB is gone.

The kit didn't come with any decals, so I used bits and pieces from my spares collection for assorted likely-looking markings. Swedish AF roundels are from an old Flying Colors sheet. I made a crude attempt at Sweden's splinter battledress camo for the guard by dabbing on patches with the tip of a toothpick.

Hope you enjoy it. All comments, questions or observations welcome.
