Bish

No worries Eagle, nice work so far. I can never remember the difference between the 18,36 and 37, I have to keep checking.

LOL!  What?! Professor Bish has to look it up?  I don't believe it!  Wink

Thank you my friend!

Hey Wayne.  Yep.  I'm loving the detail that Tamiya puts into the instructions.  Heck, I'm even learning about the differences between the 36 and 37 by putting this baby together!

i'm also doing an emplacement FLAK position. i assume you saw the 4 triangular pieces are used to secure the trails in emplacement and shouldn't be attached to the trails as they would be in travel mode.

Thanks Wayne!  I hope to do a little dio with it firmly grounded in a dugout type setting.  BoB time frame defending Berlin.  I have a couple of ideas for some cool stuff to put in the dio, so we shall see how it turns out.

good first build, no PE though my second tamiya (same kit) has some AM that came in the club auction.  looks  good. and way too earlier to compare. dirt hides a multitude of mistakes. are you going to have it in travel mode or emplaced

BTW don't do an indy track kit for your first armor vehicle. maybe a FLAK half track.

Great builds everyone!  I have a progress pic for the 88.  Not up to wayne's level, but I'm learning and having a blast!  Big shout out to Bish for all the help he is giving me on the history of the 88 and what needs to be on the dio I hope to be doing with this beautiful gun.  Thanks Bish!  Bow Down

Going slow on the build as it is my first armor type build.....and I'm liking it!

thanks. sorry about the confusion. this is the FLAK 36 with leftover parts for the 37. i sy=till have a pair of 37mm DFLAK 37s in the stash. may do one with the 6 wheel truck, also in the stash. i change my mind even after starting these things. now where to fit the german G-4 3 axle staff car in the GB scheme?

That looks really nice wayne, like your base idea.

I thought this was the Flak 37 build on the list, but I just remembered that a 3.7cm gun isn't it. damn Germans always make things confusing.

even though this isn't on my list and i have to build a base i'm calling it done. the base will  have concrete or wood interior walls. ammo bunker in the rear and access paths to hook up thr gun for transport.haven't decided on a crew as yet.

well that was annoying as hell. i did shim the left accumulator so it looks ok but, in doing so, i noticed some hollows and sink wells on the inside of the left and right trunion mounts. with the shield and direct fire mode they wouldn't be seen but i am leaving the shield off and having the gun at 70 drgrees so there they were. i cut some styrene and glued over the holes. between gray paint washed with raw umber and dirtied up they will look fine. everytime i fix one of these problems i learn something for  the next build and gain more confidence in my ability to fix things. i had to build a 3 piece part for my DANA.

36. think i am leaving the shield off and building a wood sided emplacement with the 2 trailers parked to the side. building the base is going to be fun

Wayne really nice looking 88, I don't think it's too dark at all. I think the oil wash and the dusting really works. Nice..

wayne, nice work on that. Seeing as that kit is a tad over 40 years old, its still a really nice kit. Are you doing the 36 or 37 version. I know eagle is having fun with his.

Stik, ye, those uniforms defiantly bear a striking resemblance to the Soviet ones, I think its the hat's which really do it.

no worries. i have been off the grid for a bit. FLAK 36 is coming along nicely for an older 1st edition (instructions are in japanese but i have a second and also a dragon kit. besides that's what pictures are for). will be starting a JGSDF TYPE 87 SPAA (2-35mm) first of jan and picked up an SDKFZ 7/1 20mm(4) anf an AFV CLUB SDKFZ 251/17 20mm.

the 88mm has an oil wash of raw umber with some yellow most of which is hidden by the dust. which is a mix of light gray, golden ochre, and nougat. it is a lot dirtier than planned but that is ok. getting towed behind a halftrack will do that and they certainly didn't have water to spare. as this is primarily an AA role it isn't beat up with chipping or rust. i may keep the shield off but i have to but a shim in the left accumulator to push it out a tad.

Pretty much so. I have not done any color image searches, but in B&W photos they look very similar to the Soviet quilted unifrms of the same type. Except that the Chinese wore rubber soled cavas shoes a lot like Converse sneakers insead of felt boots.

well this is what I wanted- a quick build. I finished the assistant gunner today. These Chicoms are easy

so my A-gunner was done quickly... although I did cheat a bit and use my Dremel to open up the sleeve cuff a bit...

after that I filed the fingers on the hands of the gunner enough until they would fit over the spade grips... and here is the completed gun and crew...

I have also added some stretched sprue into the sight rings of the Dshk but need to get a photo of that later... all ready for paint now....

Ok, I wanted to do something fairly easy for here- thought about my Tamiya Flakvierling... but somebody is doing one of those here.... then I thought about doing my Tamiya Flakpanzer Gepard... but somebody here is doing one of those too... then I thought of something else, but it was abit more involved and I wanted to do something quick to get on here. So a couple of weeks ago at my storage unit I found this...

so I pulled it out of storage and today I started work on it earlier today. First I built the Dshk. Dragon did a very nice job on it, although the cradle mount is not a good fitting assembly...

Then I began work on the  crew...  gunner (who needs work on his hands to fit the spade grips

and the team leader

Bish

Tony, awesome job on the Mobelwagen. Love it. Ye, I think a little break from Flak Wagons is a good idea. Still plenty of time for 2 more.

By the way, are you still working on the Jag for the Gift GB.

Thanks Bish. Yes, I'll pick it up soon and finish it prior to the deadline. If I can I'll spray the next colour this week or next.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
