This is all new to me. Does anyone know if I could find John Carter (old school?)
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Tim, you know more about Psylocke than I do - lol.
I receive a weekly email from e2046 to see what is coming out over the horizon, and when I saw her, I had to add it to the stash. No clue who the character was, but have since googled her to at least find out what her powers were. As you said, a very dynamic pose and the sculpting looks incredible.
regards,
Jack
jgeratic Tim - looks right on, and at 54mm - wow! Is that an off take from the Warhammer40k genre? --------------------------I'll be joining in with a 1/7 resin kit of Psylocke, a member of the X-men. I think the maker's brand is Antihero

Thanks for the compliments. The fig isn't part of the 40K universe, but it's definitely influenced by it.
I think the your kit is made by GK Figures and the line is called Antihero. And, Psylocke is, in my opinion, one of the coolest X-men characters, and under-utilized in the "expanded" universe stuff Marvel had done outside of the comics. Great choice, too. Dynamic pose. Can't wait to see how the model turns out!

Mike (ruddratt) - sweet job on that deep sea diver. As noted, brass looks excellent as does the face.
Aaron - inspiring work there, and you say all airbrushed? Do you do any masking?

Hoping it arrives in time as it's been on pre-order fro almost a month now.

Done!

As inspiration and proof that if I can do this, anyone can. I specialize in doing these bigger figures mostly with an airbrush, because I get way-better results than I do by hand. These were all done that way. Prior to finishing the first, the last figure I built was Horizon's Robocop in 1989 with one-color flesh, one-color metal, etc.

Phil - Let's put you down for one or the other and then, if you have enough time, you can tackle the second one. So, which do you think you'd like to do first?
OK I'll bite for a second GB with you guys I have the two Dragon Iron Man VII suits in the stash, the Combat version and the flying version in 1/9. I was going to light at least one but I think that may be a bit much for my skill level at the moment. If someone wants to do either of the two i have I can swap, or I could go mad and try both!!
Here's a recent 54mm fig from Andrea's Dark Nova line I finished a couple of years ago.
I'd have to say that's the most recent one I've put any amount of real time on. Recently, everything else has been slap-dash at best.

I am seriously out of my league here. However, that's never stopped me before....

Kugai - There's a spot open for you when you're ready to go!
Nice work Mike, love the patina you've got going there on the bronze/brass (whichever it is, I get mixed up) helmet!

Wow, Mike...that looks fantastic! I'm looking forward to learning a lot from you guys on this one...

Looks like this is shaping up to be quite the GB. Really looking forward to this one - man, it's been ages since my last figure model (well, actually 7 years, but you get the idea). Back in '06 was when I built this 1/10 Andreas miniatures bust........

A little inspiration for Aaron:
Tim Kidwell ruddratt Doesn't give me the scale or the manufacturer, but my guess on the scale would be about 1/10 to 1/12 scale. Posed as is, the kit measures 7 1/2" high. I'll put you down! Is a Dark Horse model? 1/6 scale perhaps?

Could be Dark Horse, Tim, but I can't say for certain. Been scouring the web for any info on this kit and so far, nada. As far as the scale goes, I'm basing my new estimate on the fact that Kevin Peter Hall, the actor who portrayed the creature in the first two films, was 7' 2" tall. I then measured sections of the kit and figured that standing upright it would be just under 11" in height, did the math and came up with a 1/8 scale result.
This sounds fun, but don't add me to the list just yet. I have a Zeiram kit that might be good, but I want to see if I'm likely to have the time for it.

Chuck, you're in!
And with that, we have ourselves a group build! The more, the merrier! I will put an order in for a badge on Monday.
Chuck Davis But hey, how hard can it be? A guy in a black cape and black mask, riding a black horse. Yeah, right... Chuck

That was my thinking. Minus the horse.

OK, guys...I'll admit you were right. This is about as far out of my "modeling norm" as you could get. Having said that, the WW1 Group was great. So...put me down (especially after you see my attempts at figure painting! HAH!).
I assume a 1:12 Atlantis Model Zorro will allow me to embarrass myself among my peers? If so log me in...thank you. I think.
Things like this are a good chance to try something new and pick up tips from those with a bit of experience. I have been planning on getting a few of these kits for a while, so this is the perfect excuse.
Bish - We'll get the details for the model when it arrives. Glad to have you aboard!
Bobbaily - Looking forward to your choice! Welcome!
Greg - We said we're trying to go in different directions with these group builds, both to challenge ourselves and to try to mix things up a little. I hope we're succeeding.
We have a number of figure modelers on the Forum, so hopefully a few of them will jump on. Also, I'm excited to see you guys who aren't figure modelers per se giving this a shot. That is AWESOME!
I thought what the hell, and went and ordered the Darth figure today. I think its from Screamin, but will confirm when it arrives.
Greg, that's makes two of us. I have only done 35tyh and 72nd figures for diorama's. This will be my first stand alone figure.
I'm in-not sure with what yet-have to check and see what my LHS has in stock.
Bob
Wow, you guys are showing a fiendish proclivity for ego-busting choices for the GBs!
Haven't done figures for about 20 years, but, hey...public humiliation is nothing new to me. I'm in---going old school---with the grandaddy of hero figures, the ex-Aurora 1/8 (I think) Son of Krypton...Superman. (Actually, I think it's the Revell "Retro Classics" re-release.)
I look forward to being schooled (in every sense of that expression) by you figure guys.
Tim, you can absolutely count me in on this one! I have a resin kit of the Predator that I'd love to enter. It was purchased online by me from a shop in the UK over a decade ago and is no longer in its original box, so I'm unsure at this moment of the manufacturer or the scale, but I'll do a little digging and see if I can come up with more info.
edit - found this old image in my photobucket account......
