Who are you trying to fool here, mate? I think she looks pretty damn beautiful! The weathering is purely awesome and I don't see anything that is less than perfect. Which pic do you want me to use for the front page?

Whaa..Aw, come ON Doug...Pleeease, enough with the nonsense. I know it's fantastic. You know it's fantastic. Everyone here knows it's fantastic. Apparently, you are hesitant to admit your greatness. So, I want you to post a "Feel Good" statement so you can overcome this blight of humbleness you have. You will post to all of us, "My Corsair is Fantastic!". You will then pound your chest while yelling "I'm the Man". There, that should do it.

P.S. By the way, your Corsair IS fantastic.

First off... Thank you one and all, But I really meant what I said, There is some beautiful work going on here that makes me very envious! Also makes me feel proud to be part of this group build!

Clemens... Your choice my friend as always. You and Bish are doing a bang up job, and I look forward to starting the next Corsair.

Doug it looks like you made a lot of peoples day here, she looks fantastic and I agree the weathering really make it work.

I got started on my mid-production M4 Sherman this past Friday.  Here's what I managed to get done....

the turret in progress

the pistol port, it's cast in so I had to putty it a bit

the 3-piece transmission cover

and the rear panel (minus the trailer hitch)

Awesome work Doug!  I really enjoyed seeing how the weathering played out. I hadn't ever thought about doing it the way you did.

Nice looking start, Greg.  I have to say I have always liked the Sherman and am looking forward to seeing your pics.  I built the old Monogram M4 Hedgehog as a kid and tried (with predictable results) to duplicate Sheperd Paine's diorama.

By no means a perfect match, but hopefully close enough.  I did go with the two different tires, but wasn't able to find one that matches the port side wheel.  I also wish I had masked out the circle under the nose art so the line wouldn't show through it... lessons learned.

I said "basically" finished because I may still tweak it a bit here or there.  I see that the mast antenna is not set properly (that thing is a pain), and I am thinking of adding the radio wire from the tail.  I just can't find a decent picture that shows that the group used them for sure.  The leading surfaces of the flaps may need some 

I really enjoyed building this; the combination of a great model, a subject I was really into, and participating in an excellent group build made for a very fun experience.  Thanks to everyone for being a part of that: for sharing your inspiring work, and for all of the kind comments.  

BIG thanks to Bish & Clemens for putting this all together.   This time period is right in my wheelhouse, so I will be following this group, and probably adding another entry at some point.  I have my first ever attempt at a biplane next in my queue (WNW Snipe), so wish me luck!

Now that's a beautiful P-47!  Well done!  And about the radio aerial, I wouldn't worry about it.  From the picture you included it appears as if it didn't have one, which was pretty common in Europe.

It's interesting that the drop tank seems to hang lower in the front than you think it should.

Gary: I am always a little surprised at how low that belly tank is to the ground... that's a lot of flammable liquid and not a lot of clearance.

Mike: I debated not spending the extra cash for a 2nd set of resin wheels, but I figured when you get a fun detail like that from your subject, you have to run with it.

Clemens: I've been following your progress on the Reich Defender GB, and am really looking forward to seeing your Jug.  I know you've had a few setbacks, but I also you what you can do at the bench, so I am sure she will look great.

Jibber: I'd guess that the P-47 is about as close to armor as you can get in the 1944 skies!  She was a big beautiful beast.

Like I said before, this was a fun project, and participating here only added to it.

Blue, now that is a beautiful piece of model building. Just stunning, and I don't think you could get much closer to the real thing.

The unpainted canopy frame is different.

Thanks for the encouraging words, Blue! I got my Aero Detail book on the P-47 today (great book) and it has an illustration with all the tires used on the Jug in it. It looks like there were 6 different tires in use, so I'm really surprised there are only resin sets available for 3 of them...

Clemens, that book looks great... I'm jealous!  With respect to the front page, I guess I was thinking the first picture, but if you feel strongly about another, I'm open to suggestions.

Managed to get some minor progress in in the past few days. Assembled/painted main landing gear and fitted some left-over bombs from the Revell kit into the expansive bomb-bay. Oh, and I managed to find a bottle of MM Interior Green this past weekend in Montreal :

Rear gun turret, assembled, masked and barrels bored out:

Rear turret complete and weathered and put aside to the end, this occupied my entire evening. Gonna be putting in a wee bit more hours on this build it's safe to say :
