Joe the undersides were masked, upper camo was airbrushed free-hand. This is my first attempt with a new GREX airbrush I bought. It's a very nice tool and deserves most of the credit.

Regarding the colors, I have seen endless debates on the net. There is a mr Pilawski that is regarded as the top knowledge on the matter but lately many people say he is not so accurate.I got a headacke and stopped searching

Mo looks fine indeed. World always needs more ship models - make sure you do more.

Well done the finished product is impressive. You have learnt some lessons, so have I in following your build and the helpful tips on the way. I will do my first ship model next year. Promise.

Eric, Hobson has come up really well. And like you say, I am glad to see that she was supporting the landings from the Channel, not Hawaii. Hardly ever seen the channel looking blue - that green grey colour is what I remembered.

Bish, the dio is looking great, mud is (yet another thing) on the to do list. One of these days...

Zvezda, very good painting there, what do you thin the Gunze with? And how soon before the next coat?

Doug, I personally think that you have done an absolutely remarkable job on a kit that is not up to today's standards of molding. You have transformed an nice old kit into a very impressive piece of work. Trust me, your work on Big Mo has certainly inspired me to try my hands at a ship model. Great, great job.

Zvezda, Man, do not sell yourself short. No matter how nice an airbrush is, it's all about the skills of the person operating it. And you have done an excellent job on free handing the camo. Sounds like debating Soviet colors is on par with the numerous opinions on RLM colors.

Piers, Thanks my friend. The recovery is going well. As for therapy, I don't need no stinking therapy. A few huffs off the Easy Lift Off and everything is juuuust fine. Hey...I don't remember having a paisley colored aardvark running around. WEEEEE!

Alright, Having got some fresh air in me I've managed to complete the paint stripping stage of the recovery process. All went well. I'll do a little touch up sanding and then the primer and paint will go on.

Well I finally did something on the Thunderbolt. No pics but all masked ready for OD.  Hopefully spray tomorrow night.  Pics then.  John

I use Gunze's acrylic thinner + a few drops of Gunze's Leveling Thiner. Then I let it dry inside a closet (dust free environment) for at least a full 24 hrs.

I am calling the 251 done, and just in time. All that was left to do was finish the figures and add the few bits of stowage inside and out. I dry brushed the high points on the mud and went over it with some semi gloss to tone down the shine. For the figures, I used Archer dry transfers for the insignia. This is the first time I have used this and they look much better than trying to paint them. I only have two sets at the moment and for some reason, the one with the collar tabs is for Infantry and not armoured troops, so after applying I went over the white edges with pink. The other set includes SS cuff titles but for some reason does not include those for the 12th SS, but I left those out rather than try and paint them.

WOW, I love it. You might have had some issues and might not think its perfect, but then who's builds are. that looks real good to me and I know from here you will just get even better. Glad to have had you on board, thanks for joining the GB and bringing this to us all. Look forward to seeing more of your builds.

Nice build Bish.

Now I've done more work at the bench in the last 24 hours then I have in the last 7 months.  Step 1 highlighted center of panels.

Step 2 darkened everything up highlighted a few panels as if they were recent replacements.

Last removed the masks.

I'm modeling this as pretty beat up.  One of the last P-47C's still going.

Right on Tempest...the colour variations look fantastic. Learned a bunch from that, thanks!

Nomad, great job on the Missouri!  I haven't yet tried my hand at modeling a ship, but someday I'd like to do a carrier.

Bish, that diorama is sweet!  Looks like it just finished raining with how wet everything looks.

I'm really impressed with what I'm seeing from the group. I loved the camo on the Mo. That kind of detail was incredible, 

Here's my latest attempt at camo for the PZ IV J I'm building. Hopefully my picture uploads work this time. I think I figured out the problem.

Outstanding job Bish. The figures and 251 look great. Nice base for the dio also. Love it.

This site is the perfect outlet for my 'addiction'. I got a bunch of GBs set to go in the new year, so, let's get 'er done!! I'm actually in Toronto for Xmas, thus, all my model supplies are at my 'other' place in Montreal and I'm starting to suffer withdrawal symptoms !!!

You have defiantly fitted in, already in a 'bunch' of GB's . I know the feeling from when I used to have to go away. But its nice to get back.

Thanks for the comments guys. Its much appreciated. I am really pleased with the results even if a few bits didn't run out as planned. Finally getting a 251 dio finished has been something I have really wanted to do, but there are still plenty to do.
