Came off my 60+ hour work week for my only day off and found that today, I'm all but useless. I have been here and there working on the 101 decals in the evenings when I can, but I'm having to spend the day today mostly catching up the domestic chores. How one person can seem to generate so many dishes and dirty laundry, garbage and assorted grime I can't comprehend! Makes me appreciate Mom all that much more!

It never fails that when there are added funds coming in, something has to break.

I am losing an external HD and had to replace it, and have been working to move a lot of music and other files from the old to the new, as the old drive works for an hour, or 2 or 15 minutes, or whatever and have to then unplug and restart the drive again and again. I think I have managed to save most of the stuff I wanted the most, but hopefully I can finish before it quits completely. Didn't seem like I really had that much on it to begin with, but it's just tedious to move what is there.

The other thing I had to replace is a USB hub. The one I have now has only one port that still works and I have been using it to charge all my toys ( phone, camera, mp3 player, etc) I am forever switching cables. I was fortunate to run across a 7 port powered hub on sale so hopefully I can service all toys as needed. As to those adaptors that plug in the wall, I can never seem to keep track of those or be able to find an available outlet anyway.

I'll have to see if I can get a few WIP photos to post this evening.

Pretty much everything on the right is done. Now on to the left:

Also, I should show you my lower fuselage lights. I painted the cavities with gloss white and when that was dry, I added a couple of tiny points of silver to simulate the bulbs there. Then a drop of clear epoxy carefully added to fill it flush and give it the appearance of clear lenses.

I know the detail always looks kind of funky this close, but when you view it by eye at 1/72 scale, it looks a lot different.

BTW: Squadron is running the Encore Models 1/48th F-102A on sale for thirty-two bucks though Sunday. Dunno if anyone is interested or the kit is any good but thought I'd point it out.

Hey Cliff I hear ya on the wind in your hair thing. I'm clinging desperately to every follicle I have left too. I've always been jealous of those who have as much in their 40's as they did in their 20's! Forget about cancer, I have to get working on a cure for baldness; instant multi- millionaire! That and a pill to make us old guys attractive to 20 something gals!

I was in my early 20's when mine started to go. I think the only thing that would make me attractive to a 20 year old at this stage of my life would be a large bank roll. I keep waiting for that sack of money to fall off that armored car, but it just doesn't seem likely to happen anytime soon.....

I love reading through this GB, the topics covered is never ending, just what makes this forum the place it is.

I hate having hair. I have had a crew cut since my late teens. I started going thin on top in my late 20's and about 10 years or so ago started shaving my head about once a week. I really like being fully bald and if I let my hair grow a bit, I over heat really quickly in the summer or when I am doing anything strenuous.

If you got the head for it, I think the bald look can look pretty bad ass!

It can do. being a touch over 6 foot and of a 'bulky' build does help. Not sure I'd call it bad ass but I think it suits me.

Well, lets call this one 99.9% done. The remaining 0.1% is the antenna which wasn't provided. Instead, the instructions advised to stretch your own sprue. So I am still trying to get that right.

CN: Very nice work! I still need to learn how to stretch sprue effectively, I normally just use a thin wire for the antenna.

Sorry, I cannot enter my BF109 as the other group does not allow crossovers. I do however want to enter my Revell 1:48 A-10 Thunderbolt instead! Sorry for the mix up(im very new to this)

Good job on the T-55!  Don't sweat the stretched sprue too bad.  Use a candle, hold your sprue a couple of inches above the flame and rotate slowly to ensure heating the plastic all the way through.  When the plastic starts to get shiny, it's time to stretch.  Take it away from the flame and start pulling with even pressure from both hands.  If you want thin sprue pull quickly, for thicker sprue pull slower.  It's not that hard, and most of us have plenty of sprue laying around.

Stretching sprue can be a pain. Usually takes me several attempts to get it right: not too hot, too cold, too fast, too slow, etc.

I have been doing a few decals here and there, but with all the extra work, it's been hard to find the time or energy.

No photos until I can get the time to finish work on the computer. I got the external HD working finally, but moving things around with only a 2.0 USB ports is painfully slow (both drive are capable of 3.0). I plan to make another trip down to the computer store to pick up a 3.0 card which will free up some ports and upgrade the drives. The old one still makes funny noises at times and is very slow so I assume it may not be long for this world. I haven't even added the new hub yet, because it's a pain to pull the whole thing out to plug it in. Funny how quickly all those little plugs get filled up with a mouse, keyboard, printer, 2 hard drives, and thumb drive I have dedicated for ReadyBoost.

The T-55 is great! The subtle job of weathering you did was really nice. I took particular notice of the rust effects on the jerry cans and elsewhere as they really added to the realism. Making one of these monochromatic Russian beasts look interesting is sometimes tough but you succeeded buddy! Thanks for the pics.

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be visiting the USAF National Museum tomorrow.  A large chunk of the day will be spent on the "Behind the Scenes" tour.  The tour takes you to the restoration hangers where you can see aircraft that are being restored that are not yet available to see on the main floor.

I will spend the remaining available time in the Vietnam section taking as many photographs as possible.  I will post some of those when I get back.

While I am at Dayton Ohio, I will attend the Dayton Air Show on Saturday.  There will be a few Vietnam era aircraft on display there as well.  More pictures!
