I think that they will probably end up giving her a pacemaker. I know 3 different people who ended up getting one for the same reason.

Even though we can't be with you physically at your side, we are there in spirit!

Well, I guess the 101 will not be totally OOB anymore. I ordered a Master Model brass pitot tube for it as the kit part was large, clunky and out of scale.

I had spotted it at Sprue Brothers a few weeks ago, but tonight I went to order and OUT OF STOCK! I searched and found plenty on Ebay, but didn't want to play with bidding and all that. I decided to check my Australian source (BNA Model World), and it's in stock! I also checked to see if they had an Eduard PE detail set for the F-100 Super Sabre I got a few weeks back, and it's also in stock, plus $5 cheaper than SB! I placed my order going cheap with standard Airmail for less than 4 bucks. I got both items for about what the PE set would have cost here! Plus shipping was much cheaper!

The down side: 5-8 working days! Could be as much as 2 weeks! I guess not for the impatient, yes?

The good thing? My order was placed just an hour before their 'dispatch' time and has already shipped!

Just got the email and I think it shipped......tomorrow...... You know, the ol' International Dateline thing.....

Also did more painting and prep work, but too late to post pictures this round. Even if it is still today here...

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for all the well wishes for my Mom.  She spent the day getting even more blood drawn, another CT scan, a couple of MRI scans, an echo cardiogram, and another examination by the neurologist.  I didn't catch the cardiologist yesterday, I am hoping to catch him today.  You have to be lucky enough to be in the room when they come by.  They are not on a set schedule.

Here's the missing one Cliff: I plan on doing another one in the future as I really love the quirky quality of them. The biggest problem I ran into with this build was the overlapping of the sponson directly beneath the main gun turret. Unfortunately , I didn't catch it in time and it would've required major surgery to fix so it stays.

Hi Jim,

That is probably the biggest complaint I have about Sprue Brothers.  It seems they are always out of stock of what ever item you are wanting.  They eventually get it back in stock, but by the time they do, I have already ordered and received the item from somewhere else.

The best part of ordering from Sprue Brothers is that if it is in stock, they do ship it pretty fast and you will get it in a couple of days.

After spending the entire day with her, I was only home for a couple of hours when she called me from the hospital.  Apparently she was finding it hard to breath, and she had pressed the nurse call button but no one was responding.

I had to drive back to the hospital to kick some ass!  They finally did an x-ray on her lungs and found out she is coming down with pneumonia.  You have to watch everything that happens in a hospital!  Never take anything as status quo.

Definitely keep after them! These Doctors are not the Gods they sometimes act like!!

One year, we took Mom to the ER because she was dropping weight like crazy, and her pulse was over 200! She literally could not sit still!

The first Doctor came with her diagnosis: "Your mother is a drug addict." I told her to leave and get another Doctor to look at Mom.

The second doctor came in, looked at her and said, "Your mother is having a thyroid storm!" He got her into immediate treatment as she was in danger of having a heart attack. Within a day, she was in surgery to have a part of her thyroid gland removed. Normally they would treat with radioactive iodine- the thyroid absorbs it and some of the cells are killed. That treatment would have taken to long and that's why the surgery. It was putting out so much of the hormone, it was literally going to burn out her system.

Don't hesitate to ask questions, and insist on getting answers. And do kick tail if they aren't treating her well! That nurse call thing is inexcusable!

Amen to that, doctors are smart but they don't know everything! A tumor sounds serious but at least they seem to be getting closer to pin-pointing the problem.,

I had a similar experience as well. It seems often times unless you nag the heck out of them you're forgotten; the squeaky wheel gets the grease. As far as the docs go I respect the amount of school and challenges they face but too often the systems creates frankensteins by treating them as infallible gods. I'm not suggesting it's easy work but a little humility and the willingness to LISTEN to the patient would go a long way. Just my opinion...

In unrelated news; great job on the models as always, thanks for the kind words on my tank and most importantly I wish your mom a speedy recovery Ken!

Wow Ken, that is sad news! It's too bad he couldn't have made it a little longer so you could have gotten a little further on the Hoosier! Don't feel guilty about that as I know you have really had your hands full the last several weeks, with work, your basement, and your Mom! At least he knew you were building his aircraft.

First off:

I'm kind of down though as I miss having Easter dinner with Mom. To make matters worse, it's also my Mom and Dad's anniversary!

Guess I can try to stay busy....

I painted on the 101. I think I'm finally figuring the correct thinner/paint mix for gloss. Plus I finally have learned to check out the airbrush to be sure all works ok BEFORE I load it with paint!

My Silly Putty masking: You can see the air scoops I opened up for the afterburner cooling. Came out not to bad, I think!

Topside was done earlier in the week in two seperate sessions:

I put it aside to cure for a few days, so I needed something else to work on. I pulled down the RF-4B and did some work on it:

You see some of the masking on the underside for the gear bays:

Masked and primered those bays:

Now comes the big question: Why did I do all that masking? Can you guess what color the underside of the aircraft is supposed to be? How about WHITE? Same as the gear bays!

Oh well, guess I like doing extra work!

I shoud primer the whole underside as you know what a pain gloss white can be to make cover.
