i understand how life gets in the way and priorities change. i'm back after a few months dealing with some issues. i have never run a GB but would be willing to give it a go. probably rename it so folks know this the current one. completed posts with pics could be cut and pasted in from this one to the new one.

Well folks, let`s get some consensus on where to go from here. Been a slow GB, so, hopefully we get the original respondents to chime in and see what to do.

I'm really sorry about my lack of activity on here lately. I am in the process of rebuild the forks on my tw200 right now and I am doing alot of trail riding. Plus school has set me back alot in time. I still need to get my workbench back in order for the year. Too much stuff too little time. I'm not leaving the hobby at all, just looking for time. If you would like, you can start another thread for this build.

Wayne: if you `Reply` to a post, won`t it shoot to the last page of the series?

Rob: Well, I certainly could do so. I am limited, however, in that I don`t think I could add completed builds to the Wall of Fame. I think the creator of the GB has the admin tools to edit individual posts. I wonder if I am too inexperienced with this site to effect any change? I would also be looking for other GB members to second a nomination for this.

Whoever took over would have to add a REPLY to be able to list and add participants and finished pics. Im still waiting on the SS-25 TOPOL for this one. Have a regional in july.

I nominate you to pick up the reins and see this build through completion. It's a group effort to make a build successful. You can always hand it over to him upon his return.

He hasn't been on this site in 27 days. I made a badge suggestion I'd like to see come to fruition...

Nice work on the Gator Rob.  That may be a reboxed Zvezda kit.

Platz eh? I have always wanted to do a T-33 (in RCAF colours). I'm certainly liking what you have got going on so far johnsan. I like the added sheet styrene to the seat, really looking forward to seeing the progress on that.

As no one has said no crossovers, I'll be showing my progress with Platz' T-33 here that I'm doing over on the Japanese GB. It'll be the same photos and mostly the same words. I suspect there's different folks looking at these groups. So...

Platz released this kit a couple of years ago. I was excited with prospect of a new T-33 being so disappointed with the Sword kit. Platz' kit is easily the best T-33 on the market in any scale, but still has a few problems that need attending.

This kit comes with very nice decals from Cartograf and Platz markets a photoetch sheet done by Eduard. There are starting to be numerous aftermarket decals for this kit, but I'll be doing a JASDF one using kit decals.

This is where it sits as of today:

One kit flaw is the simplifed seats. The shape is almost right, but detail is lacking. This seat is about 1/2 complete.

Another problem is the bluntness of the vertical fin. This is nothing a few minutes spent with a file will not correct. It's worth the time taken, but be prepared to restore panel lines.

Pretty much think I'm alone on this GB Confused, but, anyway, finished off the KA-52 tonite:

This was not a great build for me. The yellow details were very difficult to stencil out and they didn't turn out consistent and they are too thick. Because it was a prototype Kamov, I did no weathering, just a semi-gloss finish. There were some issues with the engineering of the kit that had to be solved with lots of sanding and filling. The panel lines were too shallow to fill, so, I decided to pass on trying to dredge them out. The decals had some minor issues such as too much carrier film, but, easily trimmed away. The rotor section sags a bit and I really don't know how I could have solved that as it did not become apparent until the rotors were installed at the end. I had fun with this build though. Only my second helicopter and I am going to be doing many more attack heli's in the near future.

Painstaking masking to get the yellow lines on (no decals provided Sad):

Half decalling done:

So, got a few hours into the Aligator. Here's the starting point:

Cockpit done:

Rotor Assembly complete:

End of Step 3...principal painting starting tomorrow after I mask the canopy:

Going well so far. Not a very good kit, I'm afraid. I thought this would be a better kit from Iteleri. Lots of sanding and filling so far and the panel lines are not well defined. Oh, well....gonna keep at it!!

As I'm a big 1/72 guy, I'd like to get in on this build. I have several to choose from, but, I'd like to submit for this one: Kamov KA-52 "Alligator" from Italeri. I've been wanting to get into more helicopters. This one is uni-coloured black, so, It'll prob go together very fast. Is there going to be a badge?

I just added you in. And you may enter as many kits as you would like. As far as a badge goes, I may make one if time allows for it. If anyone wants to make a badge then that's great too. Anything works! (:
