Hi Phil - that all looks extremely good! Yes

Other than want of some brighter lighting, job well done.

So going to call my build done. Below is a picture of just the Hodgkiss

And now the full diorama

Its my first diorama really and I'm quite pleased with it. I've done a lot more weathering than normal as I thought these vehicles wouldn't be "loved" by the crews. I agree with the comments that the figure adds to it.

Happy to hear what everyone thinks and I'm on to my next build as this has given me a bit of a boost

Gamera

That looks great Wayne- so are you adding the wheels or setting her up on some cinder blocks like folks 'round here? Stick out tongue

I like the shot in the windscreen, nice touch there!

Bobbaily, Gamera

Thanks. i intend to flatten the 3 tires on the right side and break the rear axle on the left rear. hope the LHS has the same dark sand in Vallejo Air for easier touchup airbrushing. i do have pics of a Soviet BA-10 6x6 that looks like it could be on blocks.

the windshield shot is a through and through, practiced on the rear window..

Phil, I vote for the figure.

Hurry up, Stik!

PM, your Stuka zu Fuss with a French twist is gonna look real good. Figures always add a great visual element to a final display.

Bob, your T-34 is looking real sharp in the German mods and winter white wash.

as for me, work on my 113 has resumed and today I got some interior placard decals applied that I had left off an earlier 113 build that I did several years back

Now I can get a wash on in there, some dry brushing, stowage and it will be all ready to close and finish the exterior.

Phil: I like the figure- gives a good idea of the size of the vehicle.

BTW: I think I'm done, was going to take the photos today but there's always some little something or the other that crops up when you think you're finished.

Phil - I think the figure is a positive addition to the scene.  If you have time, definitely add it!

So most of my build is done now, pic below

I'll take a better picture next week. My only question now is should I put a figure into the scene. Below is a picture of one I've mocked up.

The figure is in primer so I can paint it next weekend if I need too.

Question to all is does it need the figure or not??

That sounds like a plan.  I know I was shocked at how intense the green was when I did my oil dot filter on my halftrack.  I should have practiced on something first.  Good luck - can't wait to see it!

Thank you Chuck-I'm happy with the results at this point-now just trying to decide what color oil wash to apply-or maybe multiple-green followed by a white & green pin dot....If I can find time I may white wash my Weekend Madness GB T34 and practice on it.

Decals on-after pics I brush applied Future in prep for oil wash this weekend.

Next major task is assembling the tracks-I removed them from the sprue & filed early in the process-just a matter of assembling & painting

Some touch up on the decals will be required but shouldn't be too bad

Thank you Gamera-at this point, the insignia is going to stay on the decal sheet until I can find some documentation.  The fact that Bison doesn't show placement supports everyone's thoughts about the unit insignia not being on the T34

Lookin' good there Bob! As Jack said you'd probably have the oversized  balkenkruez  like on your photo but I have no idea about any other insignia.

Thank you Jack for your observations-they make perfect sense.

Russian Green/Panzer Grey was a toss-up-the Bison decal sheet pretty much said the same.

Your pointing out the darkness of the photo has convinced me to leave the chassis green-that will save some time....and I'm past the point of no return

I'll spend some time checking out the link-thanks for posting it.

Thanks again.

Bob - I see what you mean about the chassis being so dark that you might want to put it black.  To be fair about photo quality,  the soldier by the left fender appears to be wearing camou, so that gives an indication of just how dark this image is.

I think other options to consider is original Russian green paint underneath, Wehrmacht repaint in panzer grey if the vehicle was captured before 1943.  Another possibility is African paints if this vehicle was originally intended for the Malta invasion, but ended up back on the eastern front.

I think Bison only included the special Ski Jager Div. badge for interest.  Beutepanzer site has five pages devoted to this unique unit, and a quick look does not appear on any of the vehicles.

Bish, Phil & Jack-thanks for the info & input.

Bison decal instructions point out the insignia but not where to place it.

I've spent a lot of time on the web and only found the one pic of the T34 I'm building

I can always save it until the end.

Thanks again

Phil - continues to look good, three weeks left!

---------------------

Bob - pinwash, probably some neutral colour, black might be to stark.

Can't add more to markings other than what others have said.  Note the balkenkruez  are much larger than normal for captured vehicles.  The Beutpanzer site is highly recommended  for some interesting marking examples on whitewashed T-34's.

Jack

Had a quick look and looking at some pictures I'd say put them where ever you want. Link below to give you some ideas

Bob, if unit insignia was applied, it was usually on the front and rear. But from what I have seen it doesn't seem to have been applied much to captured equipment. But of course it doesn't mean it wasn't. If you want to, I would suggest for the front the left side on the glacis plate above the track guard and the rear on the rear sloping armour off to the right side.

Bob

I'd put the insignia behind the view ports on the turret sides and possibly the unit one in front of the port. For a wash I'd lean toward brown but sure some people would use black or even green, you couild even try mixing them all up

Hey all-I've been following but not commenting on the excellent builds-sorry

I've made some progress on the T34-whitewash is complete-I need to Future and apply the decals.

Question for the group-where does the Unit Insignia usually get applied for German armor?

Thinking about painting the lower chassis & rims black-the photos I've been working off of show a non-green chassis.

(sorry-lighting a bit too bright on the second pic)

Another question for the group-what color pin wash would you use on a winter camo scheme?

Thanks

Bob
