Thanks again, guys. IDf Shermans are fun, kind of the Mr Potato Head of tanks. I've got an M50 in line, serious mix-and-match time....

Spartan, I keep promising myself to learn some photography skills, not much progress so far.

And any progress is good progress. :)

I made some initial progress on my Dragon Sherman:

The lower hull is assembled and I'm working on the rear plate details now. Nothing worth showing pics of yet, but it's better than nothing, isn't it?

Thanks all!

Jack, I generally do as you describe, place the camera on the same surface the model is on, or prop it up or rest it on something, but I haven't tried using the timer yet.....

RBaer - great looking build! Yes

I actually like the lighting, has that feel of a bright sun in the desert.

Sounds like you don't use a tripod? Might not need one, as I find some of my best shots are taken with the camera placed on the same surface as the model, or propped up a bit with book or two.  The key thing is not to be holding the camera, and utilize the timer setting.

regards,

Jack

Well done, Cody. What's also important is that you had fun with it, always the bottom line for me.

I'm done, as soon as P-bucket works Censored I'll do a little cropping and get some finished pics posted.

Jack-  Love the paintwork!

Thanks for the kind comments guys.

We have a finished KVII.  This is my first 1/72 scale tank and I enjoyed it a lot!  I think it feels a bit uncomfortable wearing that Iron Cross though.....

Uncomfortable, indeed! Great work, Cody. Remember to grab your ribbon and I'll add the KVII to the Hall of Valor.

Thanks guys!  I am so glad I was able to finish before the deadline.   As far as 1/72 scale goes you're right jibber, there are some neat subjects.   I saw some German rail cars and armored rail transports.   I had seen the 1/35 from Trumpeter but these are reasonable.   I'd have a hard time paying $100 per car in 1/35.    $10-$15 per car sounds better.   Plus I actually might be able to find a place to display the smaller ones.  I still will keep my favorite subjects in the 35th scale.   72nds will make great time fillers though. :)

Cody what a fantastic job on that little guy. Even though theres only 93 parts every one is really small and finicky and you've done a great job and Braille offers some very cool vehicles and opportunities.  That'll present very well on the front page.

Thanks guys!  I think its about 4" long and about 2" tall & wide.  It says it has 93 Parts.  It was a great kit.  Very clean.  It wasn't too small so it drove your crazy but still big enough to add some detail.  Definitely adding some more 1/72 to my collection after this one!

That does look pretty darn awesome Cody! Must be a big model even in 1/72nd since the KV-II was such a hulking brute!

Cody: Nice work on that little KV-2!

RBaer: Some great stuff as always! I really like all those little details you added to that Sherman!

Jack: She looks truly amazing! That camo pattern is just way cool with the turret sides basically being turned into a flag!

Sounds really cool RBaer and the MiniArt figures are really well molded with great poses.

Thanks guys.

John, I may yet figure out a way to have a guy standing on the back deck grabbing the 50 to swing it around in the direction Pointing Man is indicating. I believe it's MiniArt that does a US fig set, taken from a well-known pic, that has a guy hanging off the hull of a Sherman, blazing away at what is described in the caption as a German sniper. Since the early IDF uniforms were a mix of US and British and Sears Roebuck (well, maybe not, but you get the idea), it could be pulled off easily enough, even for a figure klutz like me. That would also go a long way towards explaining the closed loader's hatch.

Cody - looking good, the hairspray technique really allows for some fine patches of worn paint.

RBaer - very cool, looking forward to the final photos.

---------------------------------------------

Caunter pattern is now on.  Next is cleaning up overspray, underspray, and some paint that lifted from the masking tape.  One  particularly nasty bit on the hull rear.

Jack

RBAer, I'd think if that fifty was coming out those upper figures would be on the way in, they surely would be if I was one of 'em!

I'm still watching and enjoying, and happy that I finished on time.  It's a good feeling, hope everyone else can get it too.

Bish, Jack, Cody: Thanks!

Almost time to take the final pics, got the oil cans on this morning, tied them down (up?) with string from used tea bags and dusted them up to match. I may darken the 50 cal a bit, but I'm looking at it and thinking it's time to stick a fork in it.

Next (I think) is waiting for a sunny morning so I can get the final pics.

Clemens: Sounds cool, I love the Tasca/Asuka stuff - I bet you will too.

Cody: Very cool, I've done a few whitewashes with hairspray and it's a neat effect, I'm itching to do another.
