Greg

IamRaider

Having never built any Luftwaffe aircraft before, I've been researching the 109. In doing so I discovered a 360 degee view of a 109 cockpit. Thought it might be useful to anyone not familiar with the aircraft like myself.

This brightened my day. What an outstanding link. Now I have a reference for my favorite part, the office.

I echo all the above, thank you for posting this, Raider.

Glad you like it Greg. I'm glad some folks are finding it useful.

panzerpilot

I have a question for the RLM 'experten'. When did RLM 76 'late war' replace RLM 65 for the underside color? Yes, I know the answer 'might' be obvious, but It seems to me 65 was not used much after the Friedrichs?

I don't have the official document or date, but it seems lots of Fs wore 76. So sometime in mid '41 I'd say.

Tom... (Panzer Pilot) according to the Luftwaffe Camouflage pamphlet I go by, Well I'll type what the section says for you...

The question of the introduction of the RLM approved camouflage scheme incorporating the new colors 74-gray-green 75 gray-violet and 76 light blue(respectively Graugrun, Grauviolet and Lichtblau) remains enigmatic. The first Bf109 F2 photos show a low contrast camouflage consistent with 74 and 75 colors with heavy overspray of one or both colors taken down the fuselage sides. By August 15 1941 Messerschmitt had set forth the new schemes with the colors 74/75/76 with fuselage mottle of 02/70/74.

That was from the section titled Day fighters, 1940-1944.

Hope that helps Tom.

Take care...

Doug

Thanks, guys. It's never a competition for me, except with myself. Like most guys, I always try to do better on the next build. Doesn't always happen, but I do try. I have been inspired by, and learned a lot from many modelers. If I can do that for anyone I would be very happy. I am very happy that Joe tracked me down so I could be part so this GB.

Howdy folks.  I can't believe I missed the title change on the GB feeler thread in Aircraft and therefore missed the launch of the official thread. Whistling

I would like to join as well please, I've amassed the following so far.  I don't know yet what scheme I am going to do.  I reeeeeeeeeeally like Hans Beisswenger's (Yellow 4, below) but have absolutely no idea how I'd approach it.

Ok, I found a Revell (pro modeler) 109g-10 (1/72) in my stash. A few things  have been painted 66 on the sprue but no assembly done yet. I'll try to get this one built up for this GB as well.

Merry Christmas to all.  Looking forward to the mug.  Told my wife and got the look. :)

Wow, this build is going to be a great one.  24 pages already.  I finalized out that I am going to build an all black night fighter version.  I have the decals for this one already.

Though thanks to BIsh, I am going to hunt down either a B or another D and build a Condor Legion bird as well.
