Wayne,I'm sorry to here about your friend. It is so heartbreaking to lose friends and family.

Gamera, MC Thank you.
got lost parts for airbrush and back in the game. i got the atomic cannon basecoated. here are pics of the tractors. i thought i had put the wrong backs on the wrong fronts for the tires, figured out how to moubnt them, then realized i was correct the first time. the gun is together and clamped. Dragon doesn't have the largest mounting pins and it is annoying. i think i will CYA some braces on the underside of the carraige. as this will be on a base on a rutted road no one will know. i won't weather this one muchj, just some road grime and a bit of dust. though i may do a lighter uper surfaces overspray.

Wayne, this is going to be cool. Was the Atomic Cannon ever assigned to a unit or was it just an idea that passed the prototype stage?
Looks cool so far Wayne, I guess this could be considered the ultimate in war wheels!

from what i understand 20 were made and most were deployed in west germany with 6 in the far east either okinawa or south korea.
Good gosh, has it been almost a year now!?! Anyway I'm going to try to squeeze this thing in before the time limit:
It looks like your almost there.
Yeap, almost there and that's where I've been sitting for since the first of the year lol. I guess technically the gun itself is done, the figures are almost there, just need to get them arranged on the base now.
Cliff,
The gun looks really good! Nice job on the color modulation. Looking forward to seeing it complete.

On the bench: 1/48 Eduard MiG-21MF
1/35 Takom Merkava Mk.I
Thanks Bruce. It's all one colour so I ended up colour modulating the outta it just to add some visual interest.
Hopefully I'll get to some seroius work on the thing this weekend.
I'd hoped to have this done days ago, but I had to work last weekend. Then I got Wednesday off but ended up spending half the day working on mom's weekwhacker... So I'm finally almost finished, the figures are on the base and I just need to spray everything with a matte coat. Hopefully this won't go wrong and I'll get some photos up tonight- squeezing in on the last day...
There are still a few missing parts like the wheeled carriage that attaches to the front on the gun. I can't find it anywhere. But since it's removed when deployed I don't really need it, I just wish I knew where the blasted thing went after all the work I put in painting and detailing it.
Thanks Steve. Yup, the actual gun itself is done, the figures are finished and on the base. And that's the biggest part, I used all six figures although I didn't use them in exactly the positions the box showed them. All that's left is a matte finish to knock off a couple glossy spots.
Otherwise it is trivial stuff... There is the front carriage to the gun and a few extra shells I want to add but there's no reason I can't stick them on there later. And that big dark blob you can see on the grass where I spilt some of the varnish I used on the base that I want to paint over.
Thanks for a great GB! Hopefully when I finish a few more of the ones I'm in I'll possibly get moving on a few more. I really want to get to my dinosaurs for that GB.
PS: Wayne, I'd forgotten about your giant atomic cannon- have you gotten anymore work done on her?
Wow! I did not realize this was the last day. I'd like to thank you Steve for hosting this group build. It was a fantastic subject, with many outstanding builds. And I have to say, this was my first completed GB, so, I will not forget this GB for a very long time.
Gamera,
Looking forward to the completed pictures!
Okay, here we go. Wish the photos were better, I'll try to get better ones up later... but here's proof that it is finished, except of course a few little things here and there.
The missing front carriage unit, where is it? I have no idea...
Outstanding Gam, way to go. Looks great!
I'll get it up on the wall as soon as possible.
Outstanding job! I really like how the terrain turned out! The figures look top notch!
Hey thanks guys!
I'll try to get some detail shots up later.
fun GB. i will join any artillery GB
atomic cannon is together and pin washed. THEN i decided to put the black and yellow bumper decals on. that went south. painted bumpers yellow looks crappy and hand painted black stripes which looks worse so have to clean that all off and try again sigh
soviet tracked gun looks great
Can't wait to see it Wayne.
Thanks Wayne. Sorry about the decals, you can't just paint the bumpers yellow, mask them with thin stripes of tape and then spray the black strips?

assuming i can get the yellow paint off and at least smoothed down will try it again. i tried tape and brushing but i may have been in a hurry for contest today, which i skipped due to snow.
that is plan B. plan C is paint them OD and make up a reason like more tactical.
