Great finish Bish! I've enjoyed following along in the various threads, even if I haven't commented. I'm still plugging away on the Intruder. I thought I was ready to preshade, but then I realized I still needed to sand seams on the fuel tanks, MERs, and rockeyes. I've also had some personal issues come up that have taken me away from the bench. Hopefully I can get the motivation back to keep working on it.

Time to wrap this up. The final stage was adding canopy engine undercarrage and a few final touches and then getting it on its base.  I have seen the intake in a couple of colours and went for the NMF option.

Thanks again for a great GB and the chance to make up for the poor showing with the 111. I'll be following along for the rest of the builds here.

Thanks again.

Thanks guys., I am rather happy i went for these colours.

Brandon, its a nice kit, if you can pick one up, its currently OOP, i would recomend it. Even OOB it would build up nicley and i had no issues with fit other than the usually when useing AM. Its my first Revell in this scale and its giving high hopes for the others in the stash.

Quick update as i come to the end of this build. Can't believe its taken me two weeks to get to this, been draging my feet a bit.

So, after painting and a gloss coat, i added the decals then a litle flory wash. Keeping this clean given their very short service life.

Revell kit had a mix of kit and Eagle Cal decals.

Not much left to do on this. Still have to do a few bits for the 72nd dio, so hopefully will wrap this up in a couple of days.

Ouch, I hate overspray, even more damaging the finish trying to remove it.

Lotsa masking there but the results look great! Yes

Thanks BrandonK.

Thanks Silentbob: Intruder is coming along great, I agree sanding and fill is not my favorite thing either.

Thanks Johnny.

Thanks Gamera.

Bish: Good to hear the 162 went together well, nice paint job also. The dark brown and green scheme is unique.

68GT: The Corsair looks great, excellent finsh.

Ran into a few problems airbrushing the camouflage scheme, Even with a fine head on my Badger 200G I was not able to control the over spray. I tired the trick of using X-20A thinner on a lightly damp Q tip to remove the dried over spray, it just ate through the paint. I know that enamel thinner works better on removing over spray, so I airbrushed on Model Master Enamel Dark Gray (F-15) #2036. It took three light to coats to build it up solid, then after letting it try for four hours using a lightly damp Qtip with enamel thinner I was able to clean up the over spray very easily.

To help speed the F-15C, I went and masked up five different colors to airbrush. Tamiya XF24 Dark Grey for the nose, Model Master Insignia White #1745 for the wheel wells, Model Master Jet Exhaust #1796 for the exhaust, Tamiya Flat Black XF-1 for vents, and Tamiya XF-16 Flat Aluminum for vent frames. It took a good three to four hours on masking the Eagle up with Tamiya tape.

I'm very happy how it turned out, painting the vents really make's them pop out. After removing the masking tape I brush painting on marker lights on the wings and tail, and the vents with the aluminum frame. Tamiya Clear Red, Clear Blue, Clear Green & Clear Orange for the marker lights, and Tamiya White for the top of the tail and wing tips.

Thanks Bob. ye, know what you mean. Though i do wounder if the brown should not be the green version, but i do rathe rlike this so will stick with it.

Great work on the Intruder. I am with you on the sanding and filling. Its the one thing i really don't like and always catches me out.

Paint looks good Bish, although it's strange to see a Luftwaffe plane with that paint job.

I've been slowly plugging away at this.  Sanding and filing always slow me down because it's the part of this hobby I hate the most.  I did a little bit of painting in the nose gear bay and followed it up with a wash and some light drybrushing.

And now it's starting to look like an Intruder

Really moving along on the 162 now. Got the wings and tail on without any issues, goes together really well.

And then time to hit the spray booth. With the undersides painted RLM 76 on sat, i was able to freehand the top colours on Sun.

I tidied up some of the edges tonight as i was painted the Dragon kit. I used Xtracolour on the underside but Colorcoats on top as they do the brown version of RLM 81. So i will gloss coat tomorrow and then can start on the decals.

Also got to work on the engine with some Alclad black primer and Alclad paiunted for the aluminium parts and the rear part which was a mix. Here it sits with the smaller Dragon engine in front.

Thanks for loking, more soon.

The camo looks great Dan! And thanks for the photo of the real thing, I've wondered how much contrast between the greys is right.

Thanks BrandonK: This is really turning out to be a great kit.

Thanks Gamera: Yeah keeping the missiles on the sprue makes painting much easier. If they were to break off, just use some CA glue to re-attach them.

Thanks Andy: Yes I highly recommend this kit, pretty simple construction. Very little clean up.

Thanks Bish: Nice work on the He 162, great cockpit work.

Thanks Silentbob. The A-6E Intruder is really taking shape now. Masking tape always comes in handy to protect surface detail when sanding, like raised panels. Also when sanding putting around clear plastic. Wink

Yesterday I applied the second main color to the Eagle, Tamiya Medium Sea Gray XF-83. First I was going to use a soft edge effect with paper, but I went with a free hand technique. Using the paper cut out's I traced out the pattern's with a number two pencil. Mixing the paint with thinner about 50/50, and using 10psi on my compressor. First I though the color was going inside the lines but quickly noticed that it should go on the outside, so that's why on the one wing there XF-83 on the inside. Working slow with about two to three turns of the needle open, and following the pencil lines. The over spray was very tiny. Two lights coats were applied.
