No probs at all Steve, I actually hadn't noticed !
Cheers
Tony
I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
docidleThanks Steve and I want to apologize again for being so dang late. Great GB and hopefully we can do another one.
No worries my friend.
In fact, I was just formulating the wording for a GB feeler thread.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

That looks great Steve , the weathering looks fantastic!
I'll put it up when I get home. Thank you for joining.
I'm going to call her done. Thanks for hosting this GB!
Tony,
What do you think of a British Ships GB? From sailing to the latest warships, cruise ships, subs, all era's all classes, including subs?
Or the same thing with German, Japanese or American?
That way it includes every class, every time period.
Haha, I think you should get them too. Most of my stuff is WW2, but I'd be happy to go with the flow.
Sure Tony, I can do another maritime GB. Lord knows I have plenty of subjects to choose from in the stash .
Did you have something in mind?
Surface, modern, WW1, WW2, destroys, cruisers, battleships, cruise ships? I have everything but WW1, but I have my eye on the Revell SMS Dresden & SMS Emden combo, God help me.
Steve, I was hoping you were gearing up for the next round of this GB. Was feeling very interested :) Or even a different maritime one.
Oh cool! I interested in seeing it weathered.
Better late than never. Here is where I am with the Trumpeter 1/144 Gato 1944 model. I'm letting her cure before I start with the artist oil weathering.
Great info . The next time I'm in Portland I'll have to go see it. It's about 8 hours from me in Boise and I get there about every other year or so.
I did not join this GB as I haven'tbeen on in some time. Great work everyone. I really like the firsrt badge up there. Showing the American sub jumping out of the water. The SS Blueback. It is currently a museum at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry in Portland Oregon. Just a few blocks from the Railroad museum. I've been on the tour. It's pretty cool. Cramped quarters in there. So if anyone is ever up in this area and wants to check it out now you know where it is. Yes this is the sub from the Hunt for Red October.
Thanks Tony!
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Bish plasticjunkie Just a short note about my Gato. I entered it in the Modelpalooza Show today here in Orlando and won Gold in the Nautical class and Best Nautical Subject. Have not checked this thread in a while, so PJ, a belated well done and the award.

Tony, nice looking builds there, your deffinetly right to avoid the Verlinden look, yours is much better.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
That loos so cool Great job. Far better than I could ever do.
Sorry I forgot to put him on the roster.
I had some time off during the year and ran late with some of my builds. Although they're not on the roster, somewhere in the thread I said I'd build a Hobby Boss 1/350 Type IX U-Boat and the Verlinden 200mm U-Boat captain bust. I tried to avoid the 'Verlinden look' on the bust.
Sorry they're so late, but at least they're done ! I won't claim the badge.
Thanks Steve.
Fantastic job PJ! and well deserved bud.
When I was stationed there I was alone on watch at the CG transmitter site one night back in 89 I saw one of those black ones with yellow legs!!! The creature was 8" if was an inch BLAAAA! I freaked out like I was a little girl. I rather face a Menehune than one of those things again LOL.
modelcrazy LOL, well at least you’re learning a lot with this build. It's the centipedes you have that freak me out!
Well, unlike the centipede in Loggins & Messina's "Lahaina", the ones I see around the yard are pretty well behaved. They do get big though. But it's those darned cockroaches that are the unruly ones. Sometimes they have frat parties in the evening; there's loud music, crazy running around, dancing, boozing, and uninhibited sex! I can't get anything done during those roach-keggers, so I end up shutting everything down and go inside the house. Even the cats hate it.
When I was little, we used to have these centipedes in the yard that had shiny black heads, brilliant metallic blue-green bodies, and red-orange legs. Now we only get those big ones that are brown with yellow legs. But they mind their own business and don't get out of control.
But back on topic, yeah I'm trying to get back into the model groove so am re-learning stuff as I go.
“Ya ya ya, unicorn papoi!”
Thats looking very nice!
The straggler build continues.
Last night after being buzzed by a large flying cockroach (we get 'em big here - they are called "B-52s") in the patio last night, I got the hull painted up. The white glue masks seemed to work well enough, and rather than soaking them off with water I found that they could be easily peeled off using the tip of a knife and fine tweezers. The removed glue masks made quite a mess!

I forgot to paint the "sticky out bits" for the sail due to the unannounced cockroach attack. I jerked when it buzzed me, spilling paint all over my hand.

I underestimated the intensity of the white dots, so I ended up laying on the hull color quite heavily, thus obliterating the black basing effect on the topsides. I'll do the black AFTER the white dots the next time. Live and learn.
