CMK02: Really nice work there! I have a few of those I picked up at a con years ago. Don't think I ever finished them, wonder if I can even still find 'em.

I finished up an earlier GB committment today, so I'll be starting on USS Enterprise shortly.

In the meantime, here are some gaming figures from FASA I acquired and painted about thirty years ago.  They look better from a normal viewing distance!

Mr. Chekov, Lt. Uhura, Lt. Saavik and Mr. Sulu

Capt. Spock, Adm. Kirk, Dr. McCoy and Scottie

I used Floquil's old line of military colors on them.

They were individually packaged on blister cards, and the poses are different from the figures included in the boxed sets.

The guy who build the lighted kit is Ausfwerks and it's posted under 'USS Defiant'.

Thanks Steve, did you see the guy over on the SF forum that put lights and motors in his kit! Now that's amazing!  I feel like a cop-out the way I just painted mine. 

Sorry to say I haven't gotten much done. Put on a thick coat of filler/primer and she's been just sitting there. Crazy times at work and I'm going to vacation/holiday this weekend. Hopefully I'll get more work done after Thanksgiving.

I am moving ahead a little here. The kit came with transparent nacelle caps and inner parts for the Bussard collectors (or at least I think that's what they're called- the little spinning thingees on the nose of the warp nacelles). I painted the collectors with gold streaks on the outside and with metallic red auto paint inside. The insides of the nacelle caps I painted with translucent red. I hope it will look decent when finished. 

 

Really nice work Gamera. I particularly like your take on how to do the bussard collectors - looking forward to how it turns out.

Hey BM, nice work on the Emmit there. And I like your backstory on the Erikson, she does look a little like a decendent of the SS Botany Bay now that I think about it.

Good luck BM, I'm terrible with trying to write tiny like that. 

I'm beginning to realize 90% of this build is going to be touch up painting and repainting because of the small scale of the kits, the other 90% on the Erikson is going to be placing decals. Luckily the Cosmos kit has a detailed decal sheet. The Emmit has none, so it's tiny ink pen lettering or nothing.

Just a thought, I think I would try buffing it with a real fine sandpaper and see what happens before I resolve to repaint 

Yeah, sucks to do all that extra work but she looks all clean and ready for another coat now. 

May the Great Bird of the Galaxy not poop in your next coat of paint.

I got the silver leaf today and put a coat on.

Thanks for all the positive words. as modelcrazy knows the Romulans are difficult to work

with. 

I sanded and gave the BOP a good washing. Just waiting for it to dry before I try again

with Tamiya primer.

I have been bitten by Krylon paints and primers several times on models and on other projects. I feel your pain

I don't know what it is about TOS BOPs but man, they will give you a run for the money.

Ouch that blows Mach71. 

Guess you could just soak it in Simple Green, brake fluid, or whatever and just strip everything if you have to. 

Kyrlon happened. It does not like other paints. I thought buy giving it a few weeks to cure, and then repriming it would work. 

I'll just have to cover it with more primer and hope that works. I could sand all the way 

down to plastic but I don't think I'll need to go that far.

You sure you didn't get the krackle Krylon?

The silver leaf color looks very good, but the crazing is bad.

I figured sanding the Kyrlon and priming again would be enough. 

I was wrong. I guess I'll sand, re prime. Sand, prime. Then try again.

I have some tamiya paints coming from Amazon. 

It's been too wet lately to use my airbrush, I don't have a moister trap.

I'm not sure why. I'll have to remedy that someday.

It's a race to see if the weather dries out first or if I get a rattlecan I like.

Edit:

I just looked up silver leaf. It looks like a good color. It might be perfect after

a final dull coat.

mach71.. Tamiya TS30 silver leaf is an awsome color I believe that may be what your looking for

I lost all my Trek books when I joined the AirForce in the early '80s.
