There are a few progress pics.  I will post the final pics in a few hours.

Good effort Scott. That's far better than condemning that kit to landfill. I thought it was brave of you to take it on in the first place. I think "recent, but simple" is a decent way to select a kit for this.

Lewbud, I may be in the running for a third attempt, but it could be a mid week 'weekend'. I'll let you know if I can get my head around it.

Cheers

Tony

It is now 9pm and I am offically done.  Not the best job, then again, I want to keep my sanity, and I had fun building a kit designed for an 8 year, like an 8 year old.

Now comes the dark sea blue.  I did the tri color since this was suppose to be an SBD-5. The kit was also minus decals so I got some from my stash.

Here are some pics from earlier today.  I seem to pick the worse kits in my stash build.  I didn't know this was more of a dime store toy than a model.  It had nothing for details and what it did have were just blobs of plastic.  No alignment pins and the fit was non-existant. So I built it as basic as you can get. Of coarse I didn't realize how poor this kit after spending two hours drillling out the 700 some holes in the dive brakes.   Here is the model after prime and putting on the Intermediate Blue.

Well, 13 hours to go and I should finish easily.  Photobucket is not working at all so I can't post pics right now.  Need to find a better way.  Will update when I can.

One task at hand is to drill out the dive breaks.  About the only "detailing" I plan to do.

I am getting off to a very late start.  I have a number of family things going on right now, but I also feel I need a break to do a quick build.  Here is my kit and the time I am starting. In reality, I have maybe 24 hours to work on it.

Well, I had the kit out and ready to go, but just not feeling the MiG at the moment.  Maybe next weekend.  Have to switch it up for this one.  I figure with a Ford SSP being built, why not build something for it to chase?  So, this weekend build will now be

Start time will be 1:30 AM Saturday.  Will post some progress pics in the morning.

I'm here.  I will start sometime Friday evening.  Was in the hospital last weekend so I missed out.  Great work thus far fellows and I look forward to some more!  So, barring any unforseen misfortunes with photobucket I will post some pics shortly.

Good Luck everyone!

Pyrman, no oopsing!  You've been teasing me with that Crown Vic for the last couple of years!

Alrighty then!  Add me with the Lindberg 1/25 Ford Crown Vic SSP.  I have an open schedule this weekend. Stick out tongue

Thanks Tony and Scott.  I would be interested in the Tiger Meet GB.  I may join you this weekend Scott, if time allows.

Kudos in the F5 Lewbud.  That was quite a paint and decal job for just 48 hours.

Thanks Taxtp.  It is a very basic kit, but it gives the opportunity to work on detailing technques.  LOL!  Thanks.

Great work on that PM kit Eagle, it's come up very well from it's basic origins.

That's a pretty F-5 Lewbud, I tried to do two Spitfires in one weekend last year for this GB, took me about a month to get over it. I've been contemplating whether to propose a Tiger Meet GB for next year. Any interest ?

Thanks for the compliment LostAgain. 54mm translates to 1/32. As I tend to like doing the older historical figures, pre 20th century, 54mm is more prevalent that 1/35, but I want to keep to a uniform scale even when doing more modern figures.

Cheers Tony

Eagle,

The Lippisch looks very neat. It also looks tiny. How well did the PM kits go together? The Lippisch reminds me of the 'Family Guy' Star Wars spoof, Something  Something Something Dark Side - "Join the Empire, our ships are big triangles"

Hey Lostagain, The PM kits are VERY basic!  No cockpit detail at all.  No wheel well (if the aircraft has one) detail at all.  The fit is o.k. at best.  But they are fun subjects to do.  I have actually seen these kits sell for $15!!!!  Honestly, I paid $2 a piece when I got them all from a Squadron sale a long time ago.  And I would NOT pay any more then that for them.  LOL!  I guess it's because they are the only subject matter?   Maybe?  Either way, they are fun to put together.  Doesn't take long at all to do that.  Coming up with 'what if" camo schemes is part of the fun too.  LOL!  I thought the same about the plane!  It is a tiny little thing...can fit in the palm of your hand....with room to spare.  Kinda leans towards our DynaSoar aircraft too.

Lewbud,

The tiger looks excellent, a great effort getting all the gloss layers to dry and all the decals on in a 48 hour period. The scheme is very attractive.

Tony,

Nice work on the figures. What scale does 54mm translate to ? Between the weekend and SoD GBs your stash must be disappearing rapidly!

MC,

really good finish on the Sturmtiger. I like the level of weathering. If it only took 28 hours, the Trumpeter kit must have gone together well.

Wow LB, very sexy! The decals must have taken as long as the build. Is the orange on top painted or declas?

Well done Eagle!  Which pic would you like for the Wall of Fame?

Finished the Italeri kit with about 15 minutes to spare.  Time management is what normally gets me in this build, and it almost got me this time. But, I managed to persevere and get at least one finished.  The Tiger Meet scheme seemed to be fairly easy, but ended taking almost five hours nonstop to get done.  The decals are thin and grabby.  Once you put them on the model, they stay put and don't like to slide. I cut the longer decals into several pieces, but I am still not happy with the way they came out. Here are the pics.

Finally yellow.

Topside decals done.

Bottom's done.

Gear is done.

Sitting on her wheels.

Will keep working on the Hobby Boss. Will post pics when done.

O.K, They finally loaded to Photobucket.  Wow.  Gotta find a new place to put pics!

Anyway, Here she is!  The lighting in my house makes the pics look odd to me.  I have all LED lights, maybe thats what it is.  The trolly was a quick build too.  All very simple, but the painting was the fun part.  Like I said, the colors are a bit too close, but I think it works.  It's a night fighter, yeah, that's it, a night fighter.  LOL!  Wink

It will look great next to the other What if planes I have from PM.  Thanks again lewbud for hosting the Weekend GB!  Have a blast!  And everyone did an awesome job.  Really enjoyed watching the other builds!

Ok gents, the Wall of Fame is updated.  I've decided to concentrate on finishing the Italeri kit as she is the closest to being done.   Looking good Eagle, keep it up.

Well, the paint colors are a bit closer then I thought they would be...but hey, it's a what if right?  LOL.

So here she is painted, and all I have left to do is put the decals on and set her on the trolly.  Should be done by 8.

Great collection Eagle, that will be a grand achievement in a single weekend. Lewbud, nice work on the F-5s. Looking forward to these. Please use the frontal picture for mine. I just checked the Andrea Miniatures website, they didn't do any other Chindit figures, which is a shame, because that would have been a nice way to display them. Cheers Tony
