Greetings all, and a late Happy New Year! I made it back from Australia safe and sound. Here is what was awaiting me when I returned. Thank you to my Secret Santa, cant wait to get it started. Sorry for the rotation on the picture, I couldnt get it to adjust when I brought it over from PB.

Glad to see you back. Nice camo on the Mig and the F-84 is a cool bird. I built one last year for SS. I like it alot.

BK

Thanks BK! I'm looking forward to the F-84, had been eyeing that one for awhile as I also have the Tamiya Thunderbird F-84 in my stash, I think they'll look great sitting next to each other!

Welcome back Jeremey, yeah it’s been a little rough getting out of the subdivisions around here.
Did some more work on the base and Hornet. After I painted a few coats of varying colors on the base, I dry brushed to add the whitecaps. I’m going to use Poly-fil for the wake and bow wave.
The deck needs some touchup and then weathering.

Steve, I would love to catch up with you sometime and take a look at the dios that you've created. They are simply amazing! I would love to learn more about this process. I'm excited to see the finished product. I could only hope to create something as beautiful as this.

Yeah, the roads around here are terrible! Glad to see the main streets clearing up, lets see what the rest of the week holds in store for us though!

A small update on the Hornet.

I'm finishing the water base and need to apply several more coats of thin gel to give some depth.

The B-25's are coming along and need to attach the wheels, props and add some weathering to the ship and bombers (the plane was just placed there for looks).

The deck looks brown but is weathered blue in reality.

Got all the antennas on the BUFF, and the horizontal stabs on.  Wings are together and pylons are on.  Engines and tip tanks are done and ready for paint.  Once the wings and main gear doors are on, the old girl goes off for paint.  Not much time to work on it except for w/e's right now, and will be gone for four days this next week.

Will put up some pics when I get the wings on.

Steve, very nice progress on the flattop. I love you work.

GH, nice to see you're making great progress.

My kit is still in the box, waiting for the weather to improve and the F4 to be off the bench. Things are starting to move along finally.

Thanks BK

I’m almost done. I need to finish the small boats, add some rigging and weather the hull a little more. The base also need a little more work. You can see the milky acrylic varnish drying. I will add just a little more cotton to areas like the wake to show churn and foam on the surface.

As soon as I get the crew I’ll add them to the deck servicing and launching the bombers and standing along the sides watching this historical event.

Steve, the Hornet is looking great!

I will get some photos taken, hopefully tonight, of the Mig-23 from last years Secret Santa Build. I've got the paint done and some of the decals, working on the stencils currently and there are a lot. She's looking good IMO. Again, not the original plan I had intended for this kit, but it will do.

MC-  Another WOW factor build you have created, and in that scale.  Looking at her in the pics you would swear it was 1/350.

Theuns- The spit came out great , not many done in that camo and U.S. markings.

As promised, here are some updated shots I took tonight of the Mig-23. Still some small details, a few stencils and fiddly bits left to attach and then some light weathering and she'll be done, hopefully in the next day or so.

Great looking Mig!! Yes The 23 has always been my fav Mig other than the 29.

I received the crew yesterday and just completed the build tonight, so here it is.

THANK YOU Secret Santa, I hope I made you proud.

Well the long flappy things are on, and just a couple of spots to fill/sand.  Should have that done tomorrow.  Then on to final wash and starting to throw paint at it.

The B-52 has always been an impressive aircraft to me. I would love to do a 1/48 but that would take up some space. I love how fast you are moving along on this kit. Very nice.

Thanks BK.  Even in 1/144 it has a 15 1/2 inch wingspan.  The 1/72 is around 31 inches. Would hate to see one in 1/48, would be around 42-43 inches, and have not heard of one in that scale.

Even though the "H's" were never done in it, I am going to do her in SEA camo scheme as a reminder of my days with the "G's" way back in ancient history.

I did pick up the old AMT 1/72 "G" for a future build.  This one will hang in the living room, or maybe the bedroom, and leave the living room free for the bigger one.

That's a nice "little" kit you've got there!  Nicely built.

I'm here, I'm here!

I don't log on too often, but that does not mean I'm not modeling. The only camera I poses is the one in my iPhone, so when I take pics of my work, it makes it look like mere child's play.  But my Avia B534 is almost finished!  The wing fitment and a few other pieces was just OKAY.  But the dodgy fit wound up being a blessing in disguise. It gave me a good amount of practice using my homaide filler, sanding in tight spaces, and re-riveting.  All said and done it turned out excellent!  The airframe is about 60% fabric and 40% metal.  So after black-basing,  I went through and airbrushed all of the fabric a lighter shade of khaki first.  Then last night I spent 1.5 hours cutting out small strips of  Kabuki to mask off all of the ribs.  Now I will go through with a slightly darker shade for the valleys.   Pic are soon to follow!

Replaced the exhaust stacks with brass tube.  I thinned the walls of the brass to a scale thickness then I formed them to an oval.

Just got done with the tan and the two greens on the BUFF.  Will let dry and cure for this week, and get her masked and the white undersides next w/e.  Pics to follow that session.

GH, the build pics look great! I cant wait to see this one finished. I'm surprised at how large this thing is, even at 1/144.

I'll try to get some updated pics on here soon. I havent had a lot of actual "build" time at the bench lately. I just started a make-over of my build space. I picked up a new desk/table and a nicer chair, that I found on Craigslist. It increased my surface area from about 6 square feet to 12.6 square feet, plus its adjustable so I dont feel so cramped. I'll get pictures added of that when I upload the final Mig-23 shots.

Then, I can get knock out this year's SS build of the F-84G.

I know its not much, but here is a shot of the new bench and on the right corner of the bench you can see the Mig-23 with the masked off canopy ready for a final coat of clear to seal the decals before the panel line wash and weathering commences.

Alright, I just finished up the F4-B, so now I have the parts spread out on the bench to get going on the La-7. I am totally looking forward to this one.

Good to see you thawed out enough to get back to the bench.

Was trying to post up some pics, but PB is being a pain again.Spent a couple of hours masking the pylons so I could paint the undersides of the wings and fuselage.  Have come to the conclusion I'll paint the bottom and come back and repaint the pylons.  Easier masking the wing around them.
