.....And maybe a couple of episodes of "Doc Martin."

Good taste. Love that show. On my second time around, just as good as the first.

Thanks, y'all. Appreciate the comments. Nice start, Tony. Looking good. Doug, that is fantastic work on the Typhoon. Great effect. Got home early from work, and going to devote the rest of the day to the plastic. And maybe a couple of episodes of "Doc Martin."

Rigidrider

You know Bish, I never even thought about color coding which would have been in use at that time. I worked with hydraulic systems of all sorts (repairing them) for 42 years and have seen these painted about every color known, but mainly either black, or primer red. Should have given it a bit more thought...

Doug

I'm sure differant nations have differant colours for different thing. I know the Oxygen bottles in USAAF aircraft were yellow so thats why it came to mind. Militaries like to have things standaised, helps to keeps things simple.

Thanks Doug, now that makes sense. I did think that was an odd place for the oxygen, but being yellow, that was my first thought. But now you have said that, its clear. I will have to check my photo's when i get home, but i think the Lanc wheel bay has them.

Brandon, Thank you so very much...

Bish, the little canisters are accumulators. They are sort of a shock absorber for the system. They still use them in some hydraulic functions even today. What you usually have is a bladder inside the canister that is generally pressureized with a gas like nitrogen to about 2\3 system pressure to help soften initial start, and stop of cylinder travel.

MC... The chipping is dry brushing, I like to use a semi stiff bristle round , or wedge shaped brush. Dip in silver or alunimum paint, daub on a tissue until almost all paint is removed, then lightly daub on the surface your working on.

Thanks again guys...

Doug

Thank you all for the very kind words... Gamera, yeah to look at it and think about the silly putty, it kinda gives you the chills thinking about what it will do when removed. BUT... as you said... cant do without it now!

Bish, Canbera coming along nicely, Very 1st gen. looking aircraft, but what a job it did! Love that tail marking you chose! Toshi , That pit is coming out GREAT! CMK, that is going to be a cool looking project when done... watching with interest.

Little bit more from me, the finish is drawing near, and I have to fight rushing...

Both sides about done now. I left the tail end undone in this shot just to show the contrast between the steps.

Canopy, car door and all weathering done now. I like during paint and weathering to use a Lazy Susan to work on so touching is kept to a minimum. I for one just simply can not work with latex gloves on.

Just another view.

OK, shes on her feet and just about done... Just a tad more to do, and I'll likely have finish shots on the next posting. Thanks all, and have a wonderful day of modeling!!!

Doug: Lol, my same opinions of Silly Putty. When I first heard about it I was thinking 'WHUT!?!' but now I can't do without the stuff.

Bish: Another great job there, looking forward to seeing her finished up, you're so close now!

CMK02: Looks good! Clever solution to the sinkholes. Idea

Tony: Great start on the Spit. Looking forward to seeing more work on those cool figures too.

Hi Bish,

As we discussed, I'd like to add this kit to the GB.

My plan is to build it as an aircraft flown by 453 Squadron RAAF, based at Skeabrae in the Orkneys in 1942. 453 Squadron was an Article XV squadron operated within Fighter Command. I'll use Red Roo Models decals for it.

The kit itself is started, as I did most of the cockpit a few years ago. The engine and engine mounts are done purely to add structure to the nose, they won't be visible in the finished model. Here is the current status.

The next step is to do the harnesses, and investigate what else  I hadn't done to the cockpit.

Given the harsh climate of the Orkneys, I think this one might have to have a decent dose of weathering.

Thanks

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Wow.

Those last three pages went by quickly !   . . . and the roster grows - cool !

No change in my build, but I just have to admire all the work being done here.

Great interior work CMKing, Justin, BrandonK, and Toshi.   I'll be keeping an eye out for that Hampden kit to add to my british-designed-twins collection.  Some of those old Airfix kits build up quite nicely with a little extra TLC.

Bish - the canberra looks great.  Super crisp finish and nice job on the decals.

Doug - really nice painting and fading.   It's nice when decals snuggle down like that.

Tony - the pilot and setter figures have cleaned up well.  They look nice already.  Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Chris

Airfix's Hampden (1/72):

Interior of the fuselage, painted in the unfortunate Interior Green

Crew area parts installed for the most part; some will have to wait till after the painting; the twin Lewis guns were a little tricky to assemble due to vague instructions; fortunately someone elsewhere on the web had built a Hampden, and posted a clear photo

There were a couple of spots aft of the bomb bay where the fuselage pieces were sunken and didn't line up so well--leaving a step from one side to the other.  I laid a piece of styrene rod in both locations, top and bottom, then saturated with Tamiya cement to build up the area; then I added CA glue and sanded things down

When I touched up the bomb bay, I sprayed on some black to check for imperfections on the bottom, where the misalignment was worst

Finally the crew areas; I made a seat harness from masking tape, but didn't add any more detail, since the canopies are pretty thick and won't permit much viewing inside after they're in place

This is looking really good!  You're making great progress.
