Just stunning LA, as I said even though you had some problems the NM looks perfect in the photos!

LA, excellently done. Yes

Great natural metal finish you achieved there.  Is that a pair of red maple leafs on the tail - any Canadian connection?

Jack

And a very nice something it is there too Stik.

And here are the Lightning photos, finished at last!

The new Airfix Lightning is a good kit, a few fit issues around the cockpit and some monster ejection pins marks, but otherwise great. I caused some problems by not getting the primer coat nice and glossy, but clear sailing apart from that. The kit decals went well over the Vallejo metal coat.

Bish, again thank you for running another great GB. Although I joined later, I watched the builds with interest. Some time soonish I will get to the Commonwealth GB, so see you there...

Yeah, it's a very nice looking gunsight SP.

(Not that I'd like my tail in the middle of it).

Thanks Bish. It’s from a generic 1/48 RAF/FAA set by Reheat. Great to have for those little missing details such as this. It may not be accurate, but it’s better than what was there before or nothing at all.

And the forward progress has resumed!!!!

Nothing too substantial, but I did get some Tamiya Gray Liquid Surface Primer airbrushed on over the PE brass that I added last.

More to come soon....

Wow, stik, that gunsight would send me cross eyed!

So I put the wheels on the Lightning and was worried it could be an *** dragger:

But with everything installed up front it levels out well. So after a bit more work, the lightning is complete:

And I will take some good photos outside in natural light in the next couple of days for my closing post.

Sorry Bryyn, this GB closed on the 1st April, we just have a few unfinished builds carrying on. But on Tues will start its follow up GB, aircraft of the Commonwelath which of course includes all things RAF.

Be happy to have you join in there.

Hey!

I'm not sure how long this GB is going for and/or if it's too late to enter, but if I can I'll enter with Airfix's 1/72 Folland Gnat T.1.

It'll give me a chance to try out a NMF for the 1st time :)

Lost, your Lightning is looking very sharp! I really like that blue spine.

I added a few more PE pieces into the cockpit area of my Vampire: a brace for the armor plate at the rear and a gunsight for the front portion.

Love that Lightning LA. I had a serious Lightning fixation years ago, and I think it's resurfacing. I bought the Trumpeter 1/32 F2A/F6 at a recent swap meet.

The blue is right, what did you do the NMF with ?

Cheers

Tony
