I just received my kit of Vallejo acrylics 'RAF colors bomber and training command 1939-1945 paints in the mail from Amazon, so I am just about ready to begin.....now, where did I leave that time?

Great work everyone!  Some really nice kits being done for the GB!  This is turning out to be a super GB!

With that being said, I have some update pics!  And I have started the 1/72 Buccaneer to go along with the Victor K2!  It's an 1989 boxing from Airfix.  NO cockpit detail at all, but it will be hanging with the Victor being refueled by her.  So the cockpit is not a big deal for me.  The fit for the Bucc is much better then the Victor!  The Victor is.....rough to say the least.  And what's funny is that the right side of the kit is terrible with the fitting.  The left side is much better.  I've never run into that before! Huh?

The major obsticles I'm having (other then the fit of the Victor), is getting the right colors for the Buccaneer!  Good Night!  Bish has been an awesome mate and has been helping me with it (and really helped out with the Victor colors..THANK YOU BISH!), but now I'm running into not being able to GET any of the paint!  Hannants won't ship enamals over here and SB has the desert pink in Humbrol, but it is out of stock!  Angry If anyone here in the states can give any advice on where they may have gotten these colors before, it sure would be appreciated.  I have the decals for the Victor coming in, and can get the decals for the Bucc from the same place.  The paint is the bugger.  I have the Vallejo Hemp and MM Flat Gull Grey for the Victor coming from SB.  So I have what I need for the Victor, but the Bucc is giving me a fit.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Like I said, I can get the decals from the same place I got the decals for the Victor, but the paint.  Wow! Didn't think it would be this hard to get paint.  LOL! Stick out tongue

So here are some pics for you!  Thanks for looking!

I know!  Every place I checked (except Scale Hobbyist!  LOL!) either would not ship an enamel, didn't have the color I wanted, or were out of stock!  This must be the color for 2017!  LOL!

Hey Justin,  thanks for the link!  You know, I might just get a bottle of that and do a comparison.  Besides, can't have too many paints!  Whistling.  That, and with the scarcity of this color, might be a good idea to have a small stash of it.

Thanks again!

I'd like to second what Bish said....thanks to all who helped with the color and info you gave.  Much appreciated.  Bow Down

Hello from the west bank of the "Pond"..

American by birth, but family came from Nottingham in the 1860's.

I would like to join in the GB, with a 1:48 scle, Hobby Boss Boulton-Paul Defiant.  I know Airfix does an outstanding kit of the aircraft as well, but I wanted to see how this one stacks up.  I have seen Airfix's offering built up, and it is a beautiful kit.

Anyway, I'd like to contribute, and help celebrate the anniversary, of one of the most truly storied military organizations to ever take wing.

Best Regards

Frederick J Seitz III

Eagle, Airfix do a 1/72 Valiant, and it's a recent kit so it will be good. I've got one in the stash myself.

Bish - There is no way I am going to do a Valiant :)

Cheers

Bob, yep, if its RAF, it counts. Would be nice to have some from thatarea of operations.

Tony, is it a bit to big Wink. If Airfix re do the Vulcan, i would not mind getting all 3 V Bombers myself.

Come on...it would be fun.  LOL!

I'm seeing that the Valiant is hard to come by.  Saw some on evilbay.  Going to have to do more research and see where I might be able to pick one up.  That would look cool hanging in my room.  The 3 V Force bombers all lined up.  I'm really leaning towards doing the Vulcan now!  Whistling.

Ye, it does seem rather hard to find. I think the Valiant would be the least popular of the 3 given its short life. The other two both had a much longer service life and at least both saw action, even if it was only in the tanker role for the Victor.

Looks like I will be able to start on the Airfix 1/72 A.W. Whitley Mk. V this weekend.  Got the paint in for the interior (Mr. Paint) and going to give this brand of paint a try for the first time.  Looking forward to this build, first multi-engine in 20 plus years for me lol - should be a lot of fun.

Hey Bish... Getting ready to get started on my build. First up, I have a Hasagawa Mk.IB Typhoon (my favorite RAF aircraft of that time period) and I think I'd like to do a craft of 451squadron, North Africa 1943. I also like the tropical aircraft. It'll be pretty much OOB since the Hasagawa kits are fairly well detailed. Now... Question... While researching Typhoons I ran across a EF Typhoon in WWII colors, a commerative I would guess. I'd like to do that one too if OK with the Wing Commander. I'm not much into jets, but this looked too cool to pass up. Thanks, Take care!

Been plugging away at the Canberra and am rather enjoying this. Its needed quite a bit of work with every major part needing sanding before fitting and then filling and sanding after. My testors silver enamel pen has had a really good outing on this build, certainly proved its worth. Before adding the wing the main wheel wells were fitted to the side of the fuselage.

But before the wings could be fitted, the mateing edge had to be thinned to fit in a slight gap above the wheel wells. In hindsite, both wings should have been thinned before they were put together as the fit over the wells was very tigt, i was surprised the sems did not burst.

But with a bit of encouragment they did go on. And after the horizontal tail, the front and rear of the engines, canopy and the few small portrusions were fitted. O, and not forgetting the clear piece which includes the camera window, and its all ready to hit the paint booth.

Al being well, i will get her primed and painted over the weekend and can star the decals Mon/Tues.

Diggen the Canberra Bish, my Tempist is started but only the simple things. Tail planes, rudder, boxes for the exhaust stacks. Kit does not have an engine so....the stacks are resin though and are very crisp. Pix coming soon.

And so it begins; all the players have assembled.  1/48 scale diorama will be composed of:  Tamiya Spitfire Mk. 1; Airfix Hurricane Mk. 1; Airfix Albion Refueler; various ground crew and equipment from ICM (saving the Spitfire Mk. IX for another project), and other bits of ground equipment from Pro Modeller and/or Airfix.  I've already started on some of the smaller bits of ground equipment:

Doug, now have you on the roster. I saw your post in the To little too late GB and could not understand why you were not on the roster. Now i see you posted as i was doing my update and i didn't scroll up to see yours. So sorry about that. What scale is the Hase kit.

As for the EF Typhoon, i take it you mean this one.

To bloody right that counts, i was hoping someone would do this one. It was done in 2015 to commemorate the 75th anniversay of the Battle of Britain. I think Hasegawa did a 72nd kit and there are AM decals out there for it. The Canadians did the same thing with an F-18 Hornet.
