Oh cool! That's fun. I went and pimped mine with the rear end from a Tamiya 251. Definitely...not worth the effort.

Stik,

I would not mind joining. I have a number of Revell/Monogram kits to pick from. Such as the 1/48 B-29, F-86, BF-109, 1/72 B-52..... and so on. Can I choose before the start date Stik?

Godfather, I respectfully submit my entries to your GB.

I'm going to do both of my T-28's.  One will be OOB with the white and red scheme, the other I'm going to do up in Navy yellow.  The Mig-15 will be old school Soviet metal.  Not sure if there is a difference in the T-28's.  It appears that it's just the box size and number. Only guess is they must have been produced and shipped at different times.

Out of curiosity... I have Revell 85-7324 custom chopper in the stash. Not sure by scalemates.com. Can I get a ruling?

I grabbed the first 2 out of stash I found.

If these are pleasing to the Godfather... I respectfully submit:

Monogram 1/72 F7F Tigercat 1993

Monogram 1/72 F8F Bearcat 1973

Going to do the Bearcat as Beetle Bomb from Blue Angels probably

F7F as a Marine bird of course...

Looking at Scalemates history of that kit, I'll say yes. Do you have it in your stash already? If so, check the sprues for a "molded in" or "made in" tab or mark.

Before we begin I would like to thank don stik for calling this fourth meeting of the family.  Let's be frank though. We are not all the same. We don't all have the same challenges at home.. at the bench. We don't all have wives and sons.  My wife for instance is not a big fan of the family business. She is not happy with me spending to much time with sprue cutters in my  hands.. She does not like me coming to church with red paint under my fingernails...  That being said it is very possible she will be very unhappy about me joining this build.  She may try to forbid me to bring more kits into the house or even to look at them on ebay...  However, with the help of  my friends here I think I can come up with a plan that will be acceptable to the family.   If somone, such as silentbob (because he has a good name for the job), would arrange to have two kits, preferably in white boxes, planted somewhere in my basement...somewhere my wife would not think to look... If someone can do that........... Then.... I will build them both.     Maybe if someone here has contancts in the newspaper, maybe they could run a story about a red tag sale at TJ Max, to get the wife out of the house--you understand.. Well, if we all agree, then I will swear, on my collection of unopened Pollyscale luftwaffe colors, that I will not be the one to break this agreement we have come to today....

Wow so many people are building the TBD! makes me want to build one too Whistling

I'll build a TBD also - the Monogram TBD-1 Devastator with Yellow wings! Kit# 7575-0102, boxed in 1974.

I will add the Monogram ProModeler Kit# 5920 A-26B Invader (nose art "Stinky") for my second kit. I won this kit in a raffle a month or two before I got out of the Marines (so, early 1995), and tried to start on it with my oldest son (who was 10 at the time), but never got farther than opening the box and admiring the parts.

Do these two kits count, Stik?

Devil Dawg, those two are pure blooded from the old country. They will do nicely.

Sprue, GM's... or maybe it was that Bondoman's... Rommel's Rod was in one of the previous Monogram Mafia GBs. I'm not sure which one. Check the face page on those for the build.

Stick,

What do you think of this for my second entry. It should work since it was born in the 70's as an AMT kit. I have other options if this dosn't work.

Hey, MC, just my 2 pennies,  but I think that one is a 90s mold. Not that it dq's it, but when it came out, it was considered a very good kit.

I'm sure your right Mississippi, I'm not up on car kits although I do like building them on occasion.

If that dosn't work I always have a P-40 to fall back on.

Nice looking Avanti GM.

Hi,

I'm hoping to join in too, if I have the time and can finish up a couple things 1st.

For my 1st kit a bought an old Revell box scale Douglas DC-9 which looks to be from the mid 1960s, according to Scalemates.

DC-9

Other than an alternate paint job, and maybe just a very small tweek to the main gear struts, I hope to do this pretty much straight out of the box.

For my 2nd kit, I figured I should probably do something that was originally from Monogram, since this is called the Monogram Mafia build Smile.  As such, I think I might try this 1955 Panel Truck kit.

Truck 1

Although my box says Revell, Scalemates seems to indicate that it was originally from Monogram as shown below.

Truck 2

This model looks like its meant to be a "modernized" truck with new wheels, side pipes and some other upgrades.  I'm thinking of maybe of trying to "backfit" it a little to something closer to a "stock" version of the truck.  For the most part I think it'll only be removing the side pipies, looking for older style tires/wheels, and maybe do a few small mods to the seats and engine, etc. Smile

Ok all youse, the roster has been updated.

I welcome the new applicants, PFJN and lewbud, and have updated GM and Modelcrazy's kit selections. It looks like the inclusion of AMT is expanding ou Auto entries, very nice.

Just under a week until we start.

Don Stick,

Just when I thought I was out of this thing, you go and call a meeting of the family.....I can ignore the call no more.  With your approval, I will rejoin the family on this build. I scored a major deal on eBay with a "Young Modelers" collection of Monogram kits.  I will have to dig them out to see which kits are included....I beg your indulgence!!

If we get a new "soldier" asking to join, someone needs to build the "Red Baron".

Well folks, it looks like Photobucket is going for the hostage routine- give them money or you'll never see your hosted photos on another site again. So who has a image hosting site they can recommend?

Some use Flicker, a few use Google or something I, PJ, and a few others use Imageshack. There is a yearly fee which is $40 I believe but I have never had ANY problems with them. As fay as moving stuff over, I still have a PB account the I'll cringe and go into on occation. I'll copy a few pictures and move them over but I found that I don't need most of those old pics anyway. The pictures that are valuable are stored on a USB.
