Oh ya that looks terrific Nick, just figured out your name. That pigment binder did the trick. Great looking T-62!

Nick, that looks fantastic man!! Bow Down I'll HAVE to remember that trick.

The base painting is complete and the vehicle is in its place. I started to add some cotton for the splashes at the front, sides and rear wake. I'll add more coats of acrylic varnish to deepen the wet water look then add some more cotton. Eventually I'll add the thrust tails from the jets.

Steve

Steve! Amazing work. You don't see muudy water effects too often and that looks great!

Nick: So I'm guessing you mixed the pigment and sprayed it? I've tried pigments before and never got it to look the way I wanted it. Yours turned out terrific!

Steve: That looks great! I too wouldn't have thought of doing a muddy river. Looks amazing.

Griffin25 thank you its been a change using vallejo I hadnt had much luck with their paints but the pigments work very well.

modelcrazy with all that mudddy water you gotta have some dirt on the tools lol

gamera I mix it until it looks like muddy water and spray at 15 or so lbs. to build up slowly this stuff is very forgiving. I had a harder time applying it dry

I must admit that I've never done dirty water before. I like pushing my limits. My biggest push was the Puffer launch.

Nick: Thanks! I'm going to drag out a old test model and give that a try!

Steve: Think I'm going to go look over your USS Puffer diorama again. Great job, it's worth the time for me to stare and drool once more!

Thanks guys,

SD, I would say maybe around a month, working on it a couple hours 4 or 5 times a week.

I'm done with the PT-76. I made the spray from the jets but just couldn't get them to look right so I removed them. The tank seems to be able to swim with or without them so I'm leaving them off.

That is an impressive dio Steve.  Do you have a preference for which picture to post on the first page for completed models?

You make this look like it is easy (and we know it isn't).  Just about the best complement I can think of.

That looks terrific Steve. Very original scene too. The paint job and the weathering have a great balance. Bravo !

Looks great Nick. It looks like I'm watching The Beast with the crazy tank commander (tank boy). Yes

Great job on that kit, Nick.  I think you nailed the dusty look!  Thanks for being a part of the GB!  I am going to use the last picure for the front page, if you don't mind.

WOW!!  Just like that - two completed builds!

modelcrazy - what can I say?  Great, great perfect water based vignette for the PT-76!  Can't think of a better way to show a vehicle doing what it was designed to do in its environment!  Yes

crown - super work on the T-55 Beast!  Love the dirty, dusty look!  Oh, and nice Hulk model too!  You need to get that built and "greened up"!

I've had to slow down on my two builds.  Been having lots of neck and back pains, probably from too much time hunched over the bench Dead...guess that happens with ageBlack Eye

I got the suspension built up:

The Friuls took longer than I expected, but they are defenitly worth it. I did some dry fitting and it finaly looks like a tank:

To sand the mold lines off the wheels I carved a piece of sprue to fit in the hole then put it in my Dremal at low speed and held it up to some sandpaper. This is my prefered method for sanding wheels as it only takes a few seconds per wheel to remove the mold lines.
