Griffin, that is some nice work.  Pretty precise work on that lettering.  Gonna have to dirty up those containers after they are on the tank. Big Smile

Roster updated.  Welcome to the GB!  Box art camo is pretty wild.

This GB has been way more popular than I thought it would be.  Get to see all this armor getting built, which is great!

Does anyone know about (preferably) North American distributors for Star Decals, or an equivilant brand? I'm looking to paint the T-55 as Syrian during the 1973 Arab-Israeli war. Star has a set that look great and I can surely wait the time it would take for them to get here. I'm just looking for options.

Just checked, and Sprue Brothers has them.

Yeah. I like the tank on the box alot and that was my first thought. I'm just not sure I can pull off the look and feel in the paint job. I've got time so I may flip flop on which way to go.

I built that same kit way back when, before you even bought that one probably. It was one of my earliest Tamiya kits; it was a great, easy build then, I’m sure it still is!

EBay has them. A couple of US based sellers. Syrian is a great idea.

Ebay is probably the way to go unless you want to order some other stuff.  At least with Ebay, you won't end up spending more on shipping than on the decals.

Well I started the T-55. Nothing exciting. I love the way this kit fits together. The running gear was a dream.

Griffin: Nice work there! I have no idea if the writing is accurate but they look really good. Nice work on the hull and road wheels.

Uzi 9mm, 12guage autoloader, phase plasma rifle in the 40watt range.....Hey buddy only what ya see on the shelf. I though I was farther along but fortunately all I have done is the road wheels and some fiddly bits on the lower hull. I'm very excited that my wife has figured out how to post pix, it will be fun to show my progress.

Thanks bud. I copied from Google translate pasted to a Word document in the second smallest font possible. Printed it out on decal paper. Its a nice little trick for foreign language items.

Griffin,

Very nice work of those tracks. They look great.

Thanks Hunter! I really like the Friul tracks. Its relaxing to build them. I think AK Interactive weathering products makes a darkening solution that is basically gun bluing solution.

I've seen that at the LHS before they closed up....I wish I would have grabed a bottle.

I hope I can do it justice Hunter, I'm gonna try to finish it in the 2013 Russian Armor Show paint scheme,( I'll post a pic next week), it is three tone splinter. Looks really cool. Gonna put the mine clearing equipment on the bow as well.

Actually managed to crack open the KV-1 kit today.  Been having back problems, but was able to get a few short bench sessions in.  Nothing exciting, just working on cleaning up the running gear.  A little flash, but not bad.  No detail on the inner road wheels.  Not something I think you would see in a modern kit, but I still consider myself a novice, and an old Tamiya kit is great for learning painting techniques.  Construction wise, they just kind of fall together.

Thanks all for joining the GB.  Really going to enjoy seeing all these kits come to life!

Hey D,

I picked this up today and I may be able to get to it for this GB. Not sure though but wanted to put it in as a possibility. The T-72 is still the priority.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Looks like a fun kit.  Your que appears to be quite full at the moment.  If you get a chance to add this to the GB, I would be really interested to the WIP.  I don't know that much about Trumpy kits.  Do they have high part counts like Dragon?

Well I got the big parts together and test fit the wheels. Now on to the smaller bits. This kit is a joy to build so far.

Looking good Griffin.  I have heard that kit is a joy to build.  Sounds like you are having fun.

So had an MRI this morning, and met with a spine specialist this afternoon.  Diagnosed with a herniated disc, which was NOT what I wanted to hear.  Scheduled for a cortisone shot in about a month, which should help.  Going back to PT to strengthen the back.  The good news is that this will heal with time if I don't keep aggravating it and take care of myself.  He showed me the MRI, and it was pretty obvious there was a problem.

Talked to the doc about model building (actually showed him a picture of the T-34 I recently finished and he thought it was pretty cool), and it looks like I need to build a little higher working space.  Bending over is not a good thing.  I am thinking about building a little shelf to keep the work closer to my face and cause less bending.  I am NOT giving up this hobby.
